the EXTRAVERSION problem in dh-kpatches...
... is actually old & very well known by the maintainer! there is a bug report for exactly this that is 3 years and 124 days old! http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=165505 I can also add my report to this bug and mention that we need a fixed version for our xen packages, but as it looks for me (at the moment) the maintainer is not really interessted in getting this

Do we have one make more than necessary?
Hi, I was noticing that our debian/rules did: ... debian/stamps/build: mkdir -p $(@D) rm -rf debian/install $(MAKE) all DESTDIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/install KERNELS= GCC=$(CC) CC=$(CC) HOSTCC=$(CC) touch $@ install: debian/stamps/build rm -rf debian/install $(MAKE) dist DESTDIR=$(CURDIR)/debian/install KERNELS= XEN_PYTHON_NATIVE_INSTALL=1 CC=$(CC)

Unstripped stuff
Hi! I was running lintian on our package... Among the copious errors and warnings there are: W: xen-utils: manpage-has-errors-from-man usr/share/man/man1/xm.1.gz 668: warning: can't find numbered character 160 Should we try to fix this, perhaps? cpufreq support status
Could anyone summarize what the support status of cpu frequency changes is at present. I don''t seem to recall generic changes to the hpyervisor in that respect, but the linux tree has fairly extensive changes to the powernow-k8 driver (which would make sense to me only if all other cpufreq drivers are fully supported now, too). Thanks, Jan

Bug#414471: xen-hypervisor-3.0.3-1-i386-pae: small bug in package description
Package: xen-hypervisor-3.0.3-1-i386-pae Version: 3.0.3-0-2 Severity: minor The package description reads: This version of the hypervisor is built with PAE enabled, in order to support systems with more than 4GB of memory. If you have less than that you should probably choose the non -pae version. That's not entirely true. I tried installing the non-pae version on my ProLiant

Problems on compiling deb from vorbis-tools trunk
Hello, I have download the current vorbis and vorbis-tools trunk today using subversion. I am using debian testing and tried to build the debs using dpkg-buildpackage. The process went smoothly with vorbis but failed with vorbis-tools. Being more specific to compile vorbis-tools I do: 1) Download source using svn co http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis-tools/ 2) Run autogen.sh 3) Run

Bug#536175: Bug#536175: Bug#536176: xen-utils-3.4: trying xen-3.4 once breaks xen-3.2 (?)
Here is a patch to the Debian xen-3 3.4.0-1 package that reenables ioemu. I have been using it for the last four weeks. (I understand there are reasons this cannot go into Debian yet, but hopefully it will be useful to people that depend on running HVMs today.) debian (1.2.22-3~bpo8+1) package build failure
I'm trying to test a trivial patch to set FD_CLOEXEC on the flintlock lockfd when using F_OFD_SETLK and am running into a build failure even in an unpatched state. This is on a Debian jessie amd64 system building the jessie-backports version. The stable version (1.2.19-1+deb8u1) works and builds fine using the same commands, however I also encountered a similar build problem in a sid chroot

Samba 4.7.8 Available for Debian Stretch (amd64/i386)
Hai. I've finished the 4.7.8 package for Debian Stretch. You can find them in the repo stretch-unstable. (Note, these are not unstable, but a bad choice of words was made here.) This version is alligned with the debian samba patches up to 4.8.2, but adapted in this 4.7.8. The Build logs can be found here: http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/Buildlogs/stretch/ So, i've made a few

My Xen package plans/thoughts/ideas for Jessie
Waldi, There's a few things I'm intending to look at for the Xen packaging in Jessie, which I thought it might be useful to share with you. If there's anything on this list you explicitly do not want done please let me know so I don't waste my time, likewise if there are any which you intend to work on yourself. Otherwise I shall tackle these as and when I get a chance and post
