Lockups with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686
I updated my home server with the 6.4 CR packages, and I've experienced 3 or 4 hard lockups since. The server is a fanless VIA C7 "CentaurHauls" system with a 1GHz CPU underclocked to 800MHz and 1GB of RAM. It has a dual-port Intel 82546GB NIC in its single PCI slot. (It also has an on-board Realtek RTL-8110SC/8169SC NIC that is plugged in, but doesn't currently have an IP

Foip solution
Hi all, I've cross-posted this to the -users and -biz groups. Hope that's OK. I have a customer who REALLY needs to be able to send/receive faxes reliably. I could probably get hylafax configured, but I'm not sure how reliable it is. If it is considered reliable, would someone let me know? Otherwise, is there a product/service they can buy that will allow them to fax to/from

My target setup is: fax ---<PSTN>-- SPA3102

Asterisk stops registering
On several occassions lately, my home Asterisk box has stopped registering with my VoIP provider. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, and the log doesn't contain anything useful. How can I increase the log verbosity for SIP registration-related events? I've looked through logger.conf and tried searching with Google, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer. This

Make discard='unmap' the default?
Is it possible to make discard='unmap' the default for virtio-scsi disks? (Related, is it possible to make virtio-scsi the default disk type, rather than virtio-blk?) MIPS emulation broken - No PCI buses available
I am trying to create a QEMU MIPS guest, so that I can test some code for big-endian safety. Every attempt to create a MIPS guest is giving me an error: Unable to complete install: 'XML error: No PCI buses available' It seems like this is a known issue. https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2016-May/msg00197.html However, I am still getting this on a fully updated Fedora

How to disable i915 module
I am setting up CentOS 7 on my new firewall. This will run as a head- less system, accessed via a serial console when necessary. It's only a 2GB system, so I don't see any reason to have the GPU consuming any of the RAM. I've blacklisted the i915, drm, and drm_kms_helper modules and rebuilt the initramfs, but the i915 module is still being loaded. Anyone know what might be loading

my notes on bond, bridge, network, kvm, host and virtual so far
I put this page together just so I won't spam the board anymore begging for help..lol http://bobhoffman.com/vmissue.html This shows a working effort of bonded eths, bridged into a vm, and a few other things. The only missing thing is something on the host that ends up putting the VM internet connection into some kind of limbo. Whether it is hardware related, bug related, libvirt nat

Clarification - FAX on local network
Ok, ok, I know there has been plenty of discussion on asterisk and fax - from this I understand: 1) First and foremost, use g.711 ulaw 2) Packet loss, etc...makes faxing over the internet unreliable My need is for a fax to come in on a X100P and be forwarded to a fax machine on the local lan. I don't currently have any fxs as I'm using all sip phones at this point. I see the

T38 negotiation, the last step !
Hi, I've managed to get HYLAFAX---->T38MODEM----->ASTERISK---->CISCOAS5400 working, but when they are negotiating asterisk drops a message telling "Unknown RTP codec 96 received from gateway" Do somebody know how to fix it ? I did try that, but I wasn't able to get past errors about the machine type not supporting IDE (or something like that). I finally just gave up and use qemu-system-ppc directly, along

Kickstart with multiple eth devices
I have a Dell server that has two built-in ethernet devices. When I kickstart the machine, they are correctly identified as eth0 and eth1 (correctly meaning they correspond to the physical device ports 1 and 2). I need a third one and want that to come up as eth2. After adding the hardware, kickstart now fails because for some reason it goes through a rename process where it makes the newly added

asterisk fax in debian
Hello. i am running debian 6 with asterisk 11.4. The system has exim4 to send to email the voicemails. i would like to get rid of the analog fax machine and use asterisk to send/receive faxes. I do have a PSTN line with a SPA3102 adapter to interface it to asterisk. The number of the PSTN line is dedicated to faxing only. So i would like to: -receive faxes to asterisk and then send it as PDFs

Preferred partition type for raid 5
Hey All, I my research I came across a note that a specific partition type was preferable when creating a raid 5 array. I installed my HDs and used mdadm to assemble them into a raid 5 array. I then partitioned the array using gdisk. The default partition type is "8300 Linux filesystem" for the two partitions that I created. The article I read said that a specific partition type
