Here is Step by Step Example of Asterisk PBX System Install and configuration
Our small company is replacing Cisco CallManager with Asterisk (because we are tired of sending them money) and I am documenting the process as I go on my blog. I am trying to make the notes as easy as possible in hopes that I can ease someone else's pain. Here is the link:

Commit dialplan & other config. in memory to disk?
'lo,
So yesterday, one of our clients had the misfortune of having the disk that their Asterisk config (*.conf) was stored on take a dirt nap. Of course, Asterisk was still running at the time, and everything continued to work (except for voicemail, which was stored on the same disk) right up until I shut down Asterisk to investigate what was going on. Because the disk was dead, though, I

OT: Accountless, free, skinnable, browser based SIP client wanted
I have a client that wants to put a phone on their web page for customers
to call them via their Asterisk server.
) A keypad is needed to enter credit card details.
) "Speed dial" buttons like "Tech Support," "Sales," etc. are a
requirement. Actually, passing the SIP address in the HTTP link would work
with a bit of arm twisting.

IAX based war dialer
This may be of interest -- as a tool we can use to test our systems and as
a weapon that may be used against us :)
http://warvox.org/
A brief read-over looks like it uses iaxclient and ruby to war dial a
range of numbers and record audio samples to be analyzed to identify if
the call was answered by a modem, fax machine, human, etc.
The calls are placed through a PSTN termination

New feature: calling all bug marshals
Hi.
I wanted to write a "popcorn" app for myself, both to learn how to
script in extensions.conf, but also because it was something handy.
Along the way, I found myself doing something like:
[popcorn]
exten => s,1,Set(FUTURETIME=$[${EPOCH} + 10])
...
exten => s,n,While(${EPOCH} < ${FUTURETIME})
exten => s,n,Wait(0.01)
exten => s,n,EndWhile()
exten => s,n,Play(beep)

No audio on Zap (T1/PRI) channels
I have 12 T1's going into 3 servers, 4 in each into "Digium, Inc. Wildcard
TE410P Quad-Span togglable E1/T1/J1 card 3.3v (rev 02)" cards.
Each "group" of T1's have the primary D on 24 and the secondary D on 96.
The first server (ts20) and the last server (ts22) can playback
"demo-congrats" fine. The "middle" server (ts21) cannot -- just dead air.

Choose IAX or SIP trunking?
Asterisk 1.6 behind a firewall and NAT. We are terminating multiple DID
calls, originating and transferring.
A provider offers both SIP and IAX trunking. Cateris paribus, what is
the preferred solution to choose? What points to consider?
I can name the provider if this is not against this list policy--is it?
Thanks,

URGENT - How to exclude one ZAP channel for outgoin and incoming calls
Hi Guys,
Currently, I have a Sangoma A400 installed with 20 ZAP PSTN analogue lines.
The first line is giving me problems due to rain (probably coroded line). My
server using FreePBX dials out with g0 (group 0 which includes all 20 lines)
and it happens that the bad line is the very first line.
Can I simply put ; in zapata.conf like this to seclude the first zap line
from getting calls in or

[IAX] Up-to-date list of soft- and hardphones?
Hello
There's a lot of information on VoIP at www.voip-info.org ...
but there's also a lot of outdated information there as well :-/
Since SIP is a pain to use when NAT is involved, especially when both
the Asterisk server and the remote phones are behind NAT... I'd like
to try IAX to see how it works and if it solves the issue.
I'd like to start with a softphone (Windows

Incoming extension not working.
Hi, all. I'm probably doing Something Dumb(tm), so please feel free to
point out whatever I'm missing, no matter how stupid.
Anyway, I've got IAX set up to Vitelity. When I try to call my DID, I get:
Rejected connect attempt from 64.2.142.19, who was trying to reach
'6031234567@'
This leads me to my first question -- why doesn't it show a context?

Looking for a cheap SIP termination point.
Hi, all. I'm trying to do some rudimentary testing of an Asterisk system,
but, for various reasons, I have to do this covertly, which means I'm
paying out-of-pocket. So I'm looking for somewhere that will do *cheap*
SIP and/or IAX termination, preferably with at least two simultaneous
calls, and one DID. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Questions on IAX client

"Unable to create channel IAX2 (Cause 20 Unknown)
I am using Asterisk 1.8.7.1

asterisk-users Digest, Vol 54, Issue 53
Hi Steve;
Do u mean by the Iaxy2 is that IAX digium gateway adaptor?
If yes, then it has a codec limitation and it does not take ddns name (it needs IP address), also it is gateway and not IP Phone.
Or u mean something else?
Do u have a link for it so I can see it?

High Volume Call Center SIP versus IAX2
I wont say we are extremely high volume (40 concurrent calls) but I get
occasional complaints about quality.
Setup (at same location):
Asterisk 1.4.26.2 FrontEnd
Asterisk 1.4.26.2 Gateway with Sangoma A108D card with 2 PRI and LDT1
Connected via IAX2 trunking on its own VLAN
Is IAX2 the way to go or would SIP trunking be better.
I know its a pretty vague question but I am just trying to

Conditional "includes" in iax.conf
Hello-
For maintenance purposes, if possible I'd like to use the same iax.conf
file in several different asterisk systems. However, on one of the
systems only, I would like to include an IAX "register" command to
another external system.
Within iax.conf or other configuration files (other than
extensions.conf), is there a way of determining what system I'm running
on,
