persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello Ron,
sounds good. I have 2 tape changer. I persume, udev creates the same
link for both.
Can I modify
SYMLINK+="changer-$env{ID_SERIAL}"
The serial should be unique.

Changing Voice from Male to Female
Hi List,
I wanted to know if anyone knew of a way with asterisk to "switch the voice" of a caller from male to female or vice versa.
Thanks.

persistent generic device for tape changer
Hello,
mtx and therefor amanda use generic device /dev/sg<x> for tape changer.
These devices change on reboot.
How to make them persistent?
/dev/sch0 and /dev/sch1 seem to be persistent.
/dev/tape/by-id/ shows links from WWID to generic device
An UDEV rule could help? I have not found any example.

I've taken you as far as I can go. ?Now you will have to experiment a
bit for your use case. ?I should point out that at least in my system,
the link with the serial number in it shows up even with the line
commented in the rules file.
As always, YMMV.

Advice on accessing CD changer disks via Samba?
I've got a 5-disk CD-ROM changer that I'd like to access via Samba v2.0.4
on my Linux (RedHat v6.0) system. I already have Samba up and running
well, but I haven't had to deal with the CD changer until now.
The kicker, of course, is while there's 5 disks, there's only 1 read
mechanism. That means that the accessing of any given disk may mean first
selecting that disk to be

CentOS 6.6 Bacula-SELinux issue
I updated my backup server to CentOS 6.6 this morning. As usual, I
unmounted the current (nightly) tape from the changer before the
reboot. Now Bacula complains it cannot access the changer:

Quantum scalar i40 tape partitions
Hi All,
I have a Quantum scalar i40 tape library. I need to configure it to TWO tape partition libraries, e.g., library_a and library_b, so that each library has its own tape drive. Then connect this physical tape library to two different CentOS servers so that each server can see its own media changer and tape drive. I once had a successful configuration on one host but NOT on the other. One

Salut Alex.

sg device
What is the "sg" device?
The reason I ask, is that I have a file server running CentOS 4.2 on
a Dell Precision 1650. Disks are attached via QLogic FC. I backup to
a Qualstar TLS-4222 tape changer, with AIT-2 tapes, which is
connected over an Adaptec 29160 Ultra 160 SCSI. The software I'm
using is Legato Networker version 7.1.2. I'm backing up a bit under 1

Asterisk Voice sound level
Hi,
Is there a possibility to control sound levels (higher / lower) in Asterisk
(so the codecs). Somebody asked me to evaluate that but I didn`t found any
documentation about. I have the opinion that for these (audio) things the end
user client is the only part where I can tune around.
Problem is for example a (Austria) ISDN --> Asterisk --> SIP / IP --->

Hi,
Thanks very much for your advice! This is a real life-changer for me. I
had to fiddle a couple hours with Node.js and tweaking Vim until
Markdown was handled correctly, but now I have a really nice

st devices not showing up in xvm
I have a Sony lib-162 tape library hooked up to an adaptec 39160 scsi controller.
I''m running OpenSolaris / Indiana snv_98 with the CADP160 driver installed from
a SXCE dvd (snv_99). When I boot without xvm, I can run "mt config" and see the
configuration information for the first drive in the library. Under xvm, some scsi
operations still work - I can access the changer, move

Where to buy a db9 serial port probe
All
I apologize if this is slightly off topic, but I'm in the process of
trying to get NUT working and I've discovered the need for a serial port
probe that is native db9 - native db9 (the thought of hanging a probe plus
two db9-db25 adapters plus a cable on a UPS bothers me greatly). I'm not
looking for anything fancy, just a little gender changer with a buncha
LEDs on it.

HP Surestore 12000e and multi-LUN
I am running CentOS 4.4 and trying to bring up my tape library. When I
do cat /proc/scsi/scsi, it shows only the drive and not the changer
although both are shown when the Adaptec card initializes.
I recall in the distant past that I had to do "something" to get the
kernel to properly scan the SCSI bus for the additional LUN but I cannot
for the life of me recall what that was. It
