Asterisk + Cisco 7920 + chan_sccp or chan_skinny
Greetings,
I have seen a few postings in the past regarding the interop of Asterisk and
the Cisco 7920 WiFi phone. To date, I have not seen a definitive method to
getting the phone working. Assuming someone has this actually working, can
that person step up and answer these questions.
1) What Channel is it working with (chan_skinny or chan_sccp)?
2) If code was used that is not a part of a

More Success on the Cisco 7920 and SCCP !!!!!
Hi All,
have some decent success on the 7920 "activation" in Asterisk.
Latest status:
chan_skinny does NOT work with 7920
chan_sccp does WORK with 7920 (!!)
however:
to remove coredumping the chan_sccp just comment out the MWI
(messagewaitingindicator), then it compiles fine.
Then change sccp_helper.c: return "P0060302" instead of the old value.
and voila:
Phone is

Cisco 7961 + 7914, speeddials, BLF & Asterisk 1.4?
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with a Cisco 7961 + 7914 Operator
Console setup and speeddials/BLF on Asterisk 1.4? Would appreciate
feedback if this works reliably. I have a 7961 on skinny registering on
an 1.4.19 box with chan_sccp and speeddials work fine so that part seems
ok. I have no experience with the BLF part.

cisco 7920 makes 7940 reboot
I have asterisk 1.09 running with chan_sccp.20050701 on Fedora core 4 with
kernel 2.6.12.
I have a Cisco 7940 working with X-lite working on XP too, connecting to
each other, Asterisk and FWD. The 7940 upgraded to SIP7.4 with
xmlDefault.cnf.XML getting delivered via tftp using the loadInformation8
parameter method taken from voip-info.org ("Configuring Cisco 79xx phones
with Asterisk"

Newbie 2 PBX VOIP, protocol ?'s using Cisco 827 7910
I am replacing a dead pbx with *. There are four lines I will be using.
There is a Cisco 827-4v already in place so I will move the lines from
the pbx to it.
I am working with Cisco 7910 phones and I understand they use the
Skinny/SCCP protocol. I am not sure if I should use chan_skinny or
chan_sccp?
However my main question is with communication. Do I need to use the
same protocol between the

chan_skinny & XML Files for 7920
Hi,
I have a Cisco 7920 that I'm trying to get working with my * box. When the
phone boots it requests XMLDefault.cnf.xml and SEP<MACADDRESSHERE>.cnf. I
assume I set the line number, etc in the latter of the two. However I
cannot find any reference to how this file is structured. Anyone know?
I assume this is why I'm getting the errors below:

Cisco 7970 with skinny on * 1.4.1
Evnin' (o;
As chan_sccp is pretty much dead, doesn't compile on FBSD anyway
and isn't supported on * 1.4.x I tried going with chan_skinny...
The Cisco 7970 registers and is being acknowledged by * but that's it...
I see no lines on the 7970 display configured and it is not reachable
or it can't make any outboudn calls...
The docs are pretty non-existent for skinny and the

Same here, no joy so far.

The default file should only get requested when the specific file wasn't
found.

Problems with Cisco 7920/Skinny/Asterisk
Hi,
the last 2 days i was working on getting the 7920 Phones to work with
Skinny & Asterisk; however no luck (yet).
Does anybody has a SEPDefault.CNF.xml and a SEP<mac>.CNF.xml handy for
me ? it should be documented at the cisco page, but it isn't :-(
I still have the issue that the 7920 spits out "No Service - IP Config
failed" but Asterisk is giving me sign that the

WG: Cisco 7920 WLAN Phone
Hi,
I?ve been following some information about the latest
chan_sccp drivers for a few weeks. I installed and tried
about any variant of driver that exists in the chan_sccp system.
Despite a few little changes in the CLI options I am still
encountering a lot of problems with the phone.
When not using the phone for a while, it "disconnects" from
asterisk (1.0.7) after a few hours

Cisco 7960G and *
It'll work, either as a SIP phone with the SIP image, or as skinny using
wither chan_sccp or chan_skinny (check the wiki).

Skinny + XMLDefault
Please forgive me my ignorance ...
I've spent two days trying to find out something about the format of the
default configuration file, which CCM produces. The only example I have so
far is the one from the chan_sccp source.
There were tons of references on entering the callmanager commands on a
cisco command line - which I don't have (don't need thanks to
chan_skinny + chan_sccp).

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series.
The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here.
For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html
The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it
will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the

chan_skinny issue
Hey all, I have set up my cisco 30vip using chan_skinny because
chan_sccp wont register. The problem I am having is, everytime a call
is sent to the phone Skinny/200@jason it rings once, then asterisk
segfaults.
heres the output

WiFi Phones (was Looking for Wireless Heaset for Polycom 501)

I had seen your other post and sent you a message off-list, but I never got
a response. What do you feel is the most lacking that does not make it ready
for a production enviroment.

I've been using a SIP deskphone in my office and usually some sort of ATA at
my house, both as the primary phone. I've also had mobile phones from almost
every carrier. Each one of these devices

I got it (was: Cisco 7940 with asterisk)
Hi again,
I found chan_skinny and that seems to work pretty good. the SCCP one
filled out all the buttons really nice, but skinny seems to be
working.
How do I fill out the second line button on the phone with skinny.conf?
Thanks much!

SCCP questions
Hi!
I have two, not too related questions:
- the probably simpler one: if anyone can help me out using a Cisco
7905G with chan_sccp? I did already managed to get it working with a SIP
image, I'd just like to see it work with this one as well. It's probably
something I screw up with the configuration, as the phone registers,
only I don't get any lines with it, although I have it

Chan_SCCP vs. Chan_Skinny
Lacy's response in the thread 'Why does
everyone seem to dislike *now?', has a small
bit that caught my eye.
Chan_Skinny made a lot of progress between 1.2 and
1.4, and even more in the later 1.4.X releases.
I am curious as to which features/functions that
chan_skinny might be lacking compared to chan_sccp.
