Security question about suspect logfile entries
Hello,
in the last days I found some entries in nmb.log on one of my servers:
process_node_status_request: status request for name *<00> from IP 195.232.44.19
0 on subnet REMOTE_BROADCAST_SUBNET - name not found.
(repeated many times)
The host on this ip is not exactly in my domain :-)

sftp logging, filenames with strange characters and parsing the logfile
Hi!
The OpenSSH sshd sftp function can be configured to send logging to syslog.
When a file is open'ed or closed with unexpected characters, those
characters are send directly to syslog, e.g. a file with a '"' in it:

Function name exported incorrectly in DLL, strange entries in tmp.def
Hi,
I originally posted this on the Rcpp github tracker, but it was suggested I post it here.
I tried to compile the package https://github.com/khabbazian/sparseAHC/ under Windows. The package requires C++11 so I had to install the R devel build with gcc 4.9.3, and the latest Rtools.
I got compilation and installation to work using Rcpp (0.12.3, from CRAN source). Package loads fine. However,

Strange smbpasswd entries
Hello,
After I added a user with smbpasswd -a user, I get a rather strange entrie
in smbpasswd:
user:1012:lmhast:nthash:[UX ]:LCT-00000000:
What does the X mean in "UX"?
Why is the time (last change time) not correct?
I'm running samba 2.2.2 on a RH 7.1 machine.
UPDATE: This problem does not seem to occur with samba 2.2.1a.
Any ideas?

Bug#784880: [PATCH for-4.6] tools: libxl: Handle failure to create qemu dm logfile
If libxl_create_logfile fails for some reason then
libxl__create_qemu_logfile previously just carried on and dereferenced
the uninitialised logfile.
Check for the error from libxl_create_logfile, which has already
logged for us.
This was reported as Debian bug #784880.

Samba logfile rotation on AIX
I am running a Samba server version 3.0.23d on AIX and I am trying to
figure out how to rotate the Samba logs daily. I know the logfile can be
rotated based on size but how can I make it rotate daily without the size
parameter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
