Virtualization platform choice
Some may be bored with the subject - sorry... Still not decided about virtualization platform for my "webhotel v2" (ns, mail, web servers, etc.). KVM would be a natural way to go, I suppose, only it is too bad CentOS 6 will not be out in time for me - I guess KVM would be more mature in CentOS 6. Any experience with the free "VMware vSphere Hypervisor"?. (It was formerly

eSXI and Asterisk?
Hi Everyone, I don't have much experience with eSXI. I can really use some advise on how to run it without any trouble with Asterisk on CentOS VMs. First of all, is it a good option to run multiple hosted Asterisk instances on a VMware eSXI? or would you rather prefer something like Xen, proxmox, opennode, etc....? (All SIP trunking, no PRI or Analogue) If there are limitations such as

Check out Proxmox VE... can CentOS improve on this?
Greetings, I'm a big OpenVZ fanboy. I've sent a few emails on this list that proves that... and I'm sure I've annoyed some people... but be that as it may... I would like to draw everyone on this list's attention to Proxmox VE. What is Proxmox VE? Here's a review from the end of June: ProxMox: The high-performance virtualization server for the rest of us

Proxmox to libvirt conversion?
Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone on this list has come across the need to convert a Proxmox VM to a libvirt VM. Given that they use the same underlying technology (qemu/KVM), I'm pretty sure it's possible and just a matter of hashing out the differences in configuration (i.e. creating the necessary libvirt xml for the Proxmox disk), but figured I'd ask here first in case

Installing Asterisk from repository works great without the need to install Dahdi on Host Node of Proxmox - But trying to install from source fails. Why?
Hi everyone, I just lunched a CentOS VM in Proxmox and used the Digium repository to install Asterisk using "yum install asterisk16"...and it works great. Runs and it seems to have installed ztdummy as well without the need to touch the host node. But when I try to compile Dahdi from source on the same VM to install Asterisk from source I get this: #@root/usr/src/dahdi/: *make all*

Re: libguestfs on proxmox
OK, that seam to work however it is not exactly the correct solution for me since I need to make it one command to be able to call it from an API I have no name!@(none):/# ntfsresize /dev/sda1 ntfsresize v2012.1.15AR.5 (libntfs-3g) ERROR: Volume is scheduled for check. Run chkdsk /f and please try again, or see option -f. I have no name!@(none):/# chkdsk /f bash: chkdsk: command not found I have

Re: libguestfs on proxmox
Unfortunately I cannot use the latest version of libguestfs therefore I am stuck with the 1.20 since the newest versions need augeas 1.0.0 where debian wheezy has only 0.7 in it’s repository. But I will try to compile the ocaml 4.01 and see what is the result. Keresztes Péter-Zoltán zozo@z0z0.tk I haven’t lost my mind, I know exactly where I left it. On 01 Jul 2014, at 18:19, Richard W.M. How to override $::operatingsystem fact
Hi, I want to introduce "Proxmox" as new value in $::operatingsystem. "Proxmox" is based on Debian, so the normal value is currently "Debian". To change that, I just write a custom fact based on the facter fact "operatingsystem" Facter.add(:operatingsystem) do > ... > setcode do > ... > elsif

Virtualization

Proxmox VE is based on Debian. What does this have to do with CentOS? As it makes use of KVM you can run CentOS on top of it as a virtualization guest. Alexander

Urgent :) Procedure for replacing Gluster Node on 3.8.12
Status: We have a 3 node gluster cluster (proxmox based) - gluster 3.8.12 - Replica 3 - VM Hosting Only - Sharded Storage Or I should say we *had* a 3 node cluster, one node died today. Possibly I can recover it, in whcih case no issues, we just let it heal itself. For now its running happily on 2 nodes with no data loss - gluster for teh win! But its looking like I might have to replace the
