Core show translation > 4000ms
Hi list, we have 2 asterisk boxes in VM (kvm) on 2 different Dell servers, one is Lenny kernel 2.6.26 asterisk 1.6.2.20, the second CentOS 2.6.18 asterisk 1.4.36 (Elastix). Both 64bits, no hardware involved, dahdi on both machines for meetme timing. Doing core show translation give on the Lenny server Translation times between formats (in microseconds) for one second of data

MeetMe hardware dimensioning
Hi all. What is the best hardware configuration to handle this following scenario? - 4 IVR menu with conference applications for each option; - Only SIP/g711 user access - 3500 simultaneous users(800 at the beginning) - No ZAP channels Where is the most important point of failure? CPU? Ethernet? RAM? Im planning to separate in three servers: Server01: 01 Xeon 3Ghz getting the 1st level of

Bad Bad Performance; Max 20 Calls on Quad Proc?
Here is the setup: Dell 6250, Quad Proc P3 500Mhz. Digium Single Span T1 card. System has 71 sip peers/users. All calls are G729; we have 10 licenses. All calls follow this path: UA -> Asterisk -> Digium PRI -> Class4/5 switch. The switch dictates if it should go out local PRI for local termination or out PRI to our Cisco AS5300 for LD termination. Our biggest problem is echo.

core show translation - difference in Asterisk Versions
Hello All, I was wondering if somebody could elaborate the change in translation of codecs specifically the amount of time increased in Asterisk 11. For example *Asterisk 11* * **alaw **speex * *gsm **15000 **15000 * *ulaw 9150 15000* * * *Asterisk 1.6.x* * **alaw **speex * *gsm **2 12002 * *ulaw 1 12002* I did recalculate the

Dual CPU performance in routing
Hello I have question, currently using linux box as router. It only route packets. Currently there is 80k packets/sec and this cause 90% CPU usage on Intel Celeron 3ghz CPU. Did multiprocessor system like 2x XEON DP 3.4ghz will divide CPU usage between 2 CPU and will allow double routing performance ? -- Golem

Asterisk 1.6.1.6 crashing
Hello all, I have a pretty much standard installation of an Asterisk 1.6.1.6 with no PRI cards of any type (full VoIP). Occasionally (it happens every 2 weeks or so), it just stops running. I was using safe_asterisk but it seems that safe_asterisk did not restart it. I do have the core dump file at /tmp/core.myservername-2009-10-20T18:36:20+0200 but it seems it's from an earlier crash. CentOS 4.4 smp on Dual Quad Core Xeon
I'm booting the default kernel on a dual quad core Xeon machine. I only see four CPUs and I expect to see 8. Do I have to build a custom kernel? Is there a switch or configuration parameter I need to set? Thanks, Jerry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Question about Intel VT on PowerEdge
Hi, I''m runing a Fedora Core 6 on a Power Edge with Xeon Cranford that I planning to running Windows as a guest S.O. and reading "Fedora Xen Quickstar FC6" as document to install Xen on this server. This document recomend a "grep vmx /proc/cpuinfo" test to verify if computer is Intel VT supported. Running this command I don''t find any information about vmx.

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
Dear list, I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons (5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4 on such a setup. Specifically: CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz Board: Intel S5000 chipset RAID5:

RE: Can''t show all cpu core in the top.
Hi Everyone, I install XCP on a 12 core server, and with Hyper threading the core should show 24 core, When I use “top”, it only show 4 cpu, and I use cat /proc/cpuinfo it’s the same, But when I user “xentop”, the Dom0 have 24 vcpu, My question is ,how can I make sure the XCP use all CPU? Can anybody give me some hint ? klein _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing

Slow performance
Hi folks. I'm posting this to both the Fedora as well as the CentOS lists in hopes that somewhere, someone can help me figure out what's going on. I have a dual Xeon 3GHz server that's performing rather slow when it comes to disk activities. The machine is configured with a single 160 GiB OS drive (with CentOS 5.0) and 4x500 GiB drives setup in a RAID-5 configuration.

Oscar, I be willing to donate some machine time to you. How about a 2 x 3GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 8GB? The question is how to get past the NAT. Email me privately if interested. Sending many faxes simultaneously with spandsp
I have a potential client that wants to send many faxes simultaneously, over E1 trunks. How CPU intensive is spandsp's txfax? How many concurrent faxes could be sent by a decent CPU (e.g. Xeon 3GHz) before timing starts to get disrupted? HW Capacity plan - How many Digium is recomended per server
Hello all, I'm evaluating a VRU project which has huge requirements. I'm looking for metrics but I haven't found anything that cover my requirements Initial estimation: Erlang 61.450 BTH 25.980 T1 req. 88 Digium HW support 4 T1 per card, assuming that each server host 3 Wildcard then 7 clustered servers will be required to support this load, but, How many Digium cards is

Asterisk on EM64T
I'm looking to install Asterisk on an EM64T Dell 1850. PERC raid 1, 1GB ram, single 3Ghz Xeon. Any red flags or anything I should know? Should I bother installing a 64 bit OS? (gentoo-amd64)? Does asterisk work in 64 bit mode? Should I turn hyper threading off? Etc?

People on this list who have experience with this server please advise me how is the performance of Asterisk on this server, what flavour of linux is good on it etc. Is Hyperthreading going to be a problem or not. High load on asterisk servers
I have a problem with asterisk. I got ~15 asterisk servers on new hardware (1 or 2 xeon 3ghz) sometimes I got high load between 1 and 10. No disk activity, no ram or swap problem. But asterisk main process is using up to 300-500% cpu. This happens both with 30 channels in use and 100+ channels in use. I'm not doing transcoding or anything. any clue ? One server with 300 channels load on 5
