need help using tftp for polycom 501
Hi,
I have a Polycom 501 that is currently unusable because I started a
firmware and sip upgrade that I can't complete.
The Ubuntu box address is set static at: 192.168.1.101.
The phone address is set static at 192.168.1.51.
The phone settings for the server menu are:
Server Type: Trivial FTP

Polycom 501 netboot not working.
When I try to boot my 501, it runs through the usual stuff, then stops with
Config file error
Error is 0x4020
and then reboots.
The log on the FTP server shows:

0105164155|cfg |3|00|Image bootrom.ld has not changed.
0105164159|cfg |3|00|0004f202f803.cfg could not be downloaded, getting
next file.

Rebooting Polycom's - Could not create address for 'XXXX'
We are running a PBX box for our small company's phone system. There are two phones on our network that are not working though.
When I reboot a phone that works correctly, like this (note 4907 is the phones extension):
asterisk -rx "sip notify polycom-check-cfg 4907"
It returns this:
Sending NOTIFY of type 'polycom-check-cfg' to '4907'
and the phone proceeds to

Polycom autoprovision behind a NAT
I am having an issue with doing FTP auto provisioning of Polycom 501's when
they are behind a NAT. If I put the phone on the same subnet as the
provision server it loads the configs and changes fine but as soon as I put
in behind a NAT it comes up with cannot contact boot server. I have tried
behind and replicated this behind a PIX 501, a Linksys SOHO router and a
Motorolla SOHO router.

Serial Console Not Connecting to Dom0 on Ubuntu Server 12 Running Xen 4.1.3
Xen-users,
I have what I think is a bug in the serial console interaction of Xen and Ubuntu. Essentially, the serial console appears to work just fine until it is passed off to dom 0 from Xen. Then it stops communicating with dom0, but still communicates with Xen, if I use the control-A escape sequence. Google will not show me anything related to this.
I have local RS-232 serial console working

Sonicwall potentially causing long ping times to SIP phones
Hi,
I'm having an issue where some phones behind a sonicwall are auto-congesting.
The status on "sip show peer" shows ping times anywhere from 80ms all
the way up to 1100ms.
PCs behind the same firewall have a ping time of about 30ms to the PBX itself.
Does anyone know if the sonicwall is inserting delay into the SIP
signaling path and lagging the OPTIONS messages for qualify?

[OT] Yealink Phones
I've just started deploying these (well the T28P model) after years of
Snom issues and they look pretty good (although the documentation is
execrable; if you thought the Snom stuff was obtuse Yealink have got
them knocked into a cocked hat!).
Anyway, for provisioning I use HTTP with a DHCP entry like:-

Taking the derivative of a quadratic B-spline
Hello,
I have been trying to take the derivative of a quadratic B-spline
obtained by using the COBS library. What I would like to do is
similar to what one can do by using
fit<-smooth.spline(cdf)
xx<-seq(-10,10,.1)
predict(fit, xx, deriv = 1)
The goal is to fit the spline to data that is approximating a
cumulative distribution function (e.g. in my example, cdf is a
2-column matrix with x

how to guarantee 1/numflows bandwidth to each flow dynamically
I am looking for a simple way to guarantee to each flow
going through my traffic control point 1/numflows of
bandwidth. I thought using SFQ would do this effectively
but it appears to be quite unfair: a very high speed
download that fills the pipe easily starves smaller flows to
the point where it becomes unusable (especially if they are
at all interactive)
Because numflows is dynamic,

Samba WINS issues over VPN
I am running Samba 3.4.8 as a PDC on Solaris 10. I recently made this
the WINS master- previously the BDC (Samba 3.0.37 on another Solaris 10
server.)
I also use Sonicwall ipsec VPN for remote access (Windows XP clients.)
The sonicwall client creates a virtual NIC on the client so that the
client can have an IP address directly on the company LAN (ie. the same
LAN as the samba

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt
style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues
with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up
performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some
reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node.
I created a new tinc instance using TAP

Dovecot pop3 and SonicWall?
Hello
Has anyone else run into a problem with dovecot pop3 and sonicwall? A
week after switching to dovecot we had two local customers call and
report they could no longer download emails with attachments. It
turned out to be the email macro filter on the router. After the first
report I thought maybe the customer had just changed something or it
was a fluke, but then a day later we had the

IAX2 + Sonicwall
Hi all,
I currently have an Asterisk test server behind a TZ170 Sonicwall
firewall / NAT box, with several DIDs.
I've found that inbound IAX2 calls don't work reliably (i.e., I get a
busy tone) unless I enable "Use Consistent NAT" in the Sonicwall. This
feature is poorly documented by Sonicwall, so I thought I'd pass it along.
Has anyone else run into this, or figured

best MTU?
Hi all,
I have several locations, each connected by a Sonicwall VPN through
PPPOE DSL, with Snom 360 phones.
I've found that I have to tweak the Asterisk server MTU (inside one of
the firewalls) to get everything to work "just right". Set the server
MTU too low, and the Snom phones don't communicate correctly anymore.
Too high and the phones work, but the server can't

Sonicwall with Firmware 6.6.02 - SIP?
Sonicwall now has "SIP transformations" check box in
the Access section of the interface - does anyone know
how to make sense of this function? Tech support is
useless, and the help description is confusing. Using
on office network to connect Grandstream and Cisco
phones to asterisk PBX at remote location. I hate to
use linksys or belkin, but they're (ironically) the
