Poor man's High Availability solution
Hi,
I'm wondering what the best option to obtain a high availability
asterisk server is.
I currently use a TE410P (4 x E1) card.
I'm thinking of 2 different solutions:
- 2 servers configured with Heartbeat + DRBD (drbd mainly for
voicemail....) and the E1 span plugged to the 2 servers (with a TE410P
in each server).
- 2 servers configures with Heartbeat + DRBD with the E1 span hooked

After Dial execution, using DIALEDTIME, ANSWEREDTIME
Hi,
I noticed that when dial terminates it does not return to the dialplan,
and therefore can not execute any entry after Dial().
Is there any trick to overcome this limitation ?
How I am supposed to handle the returned vales DIALEDTIME, ANSWEREDTIME if
I can not execute anything after Dial()?
I made a workaround with DeadAGI (below) but it is unreliable: if 2 calls

member (In use)
Hello list.
We just upgraded to 1.6.1.11.
We are using real time information stored on mysql databases. That is all
running fine.
Now, since we upgraded, some member don't get calls from queues.
In CLI: "queue show" shows something like:
611 (Local/611 at agents) with penalty 20 (realtime) (*In use*) has taken no
calls yet
We use the extension 611 in different computers, in the

C caron character in R
Hi!
In R 1.6.1. for Windows using RGui interface I try to use characters of
Slovenian alphabet. Slovenia is a small Slavic country south of Austria
with 3 characters which are not found in English alphabet, namely C, S
and Z- all with caron. As S and Z are presented OK in both Console and
Graphics window, this is not the case with C caron, which is shown as E
acute- for an example please see:

Answered time on channel
Hi,
I have a dial plan where I need to notify an external system when a call
was answered and when the call hung up. In both requests the start time
needs to be the same. My Dialplan looks something like this:
[outbound]
Exten => _X.,1,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@1.1.1.1,,U(call-answer-from-carrier))
Exten => h,1,NoOp(ANSWERED_TIME: ${ANSWEREDTIME} >>> DIAL_TIME:

Polycom phone registration problem
Hi,
One of my users is in trouble with his polycom phone hooked to an
asterisk server.
The phone works fine for a few days, and then disappears from the
registered sip peers in asterisk.
The user is able to place outbound phone calls, but can't receive
incoming calls until the network plug is unplugged/plugged.

Samba 3.0.5 - Can't change password
Hello,
I upgraded samba to 3.0.5 (debian sid) in the hope of getting windows
password change to work, but had no success.
The password is changed (fortunately), but the computer still displays a
message saying the old password is incorrect.
Do you know how to fix it?
Thanks

AGI: Dial and Recording my own CDR
Hi folks --
I have a FastAGI Perl script running, handling calls. It works great.
At one point I have a Dial() command. If the called party hangs up, Dial()
returns 0, and when I call my own recordCdr() function using the channel
variables ANSWEREDTIME, DIALEDTIME and DIALSTATUS, everything is fine.
However, if the called party picks up, and then the dialing party hangs up
Dial() returns -1,

Server load while using Zlib compression
Hi,
I wonder if some users are using this plugin on production setups.
If yes, how does it perform in terms of cpu load compared with the same
setup without compression ?
Thanks

Accumulated call time
Hi All,
Asterisk 1.4.12 CentOS 5
My ISP account includes nearly 500 minutes of VOIP calls per month but
the service is expensive for unbundled minutes. So I'm trying to find
a way to keep an accumulated total of calls made through that trunk so
that I can automatically switch to a lower-cost provider when my
bundled minutes are used. The plan is to store the accumulated time in

/etc/security/limits.conf : rss
Hello,
I run CentOS 5.6 on a Dell PowerEdge R815 with 256 GB of RAM.
We use Sun Grid Engine to schedule jobs on this node.
I want to limit the memory usage about 150 GB per process.
So i use the /etc/security/limits.conf configuration file. I test this
configuration with some tools with a lower GB limit (about 2 or 4 GB),
and it works !
But, at least one process (oases - a bioinformatics

It seems that what ever I set in my answer handler does not show up in the
hangup handler. In order to do billing I can't rely on the g option where
the caller hangs up the call. Looks like I can either use h or a hangup
handler along with the shared function.

codepage/UnicodeData: tcase() data
Three questions:
- Where did the file come from?
- Does tcase() stand for toggle case (or otherwise effectively the same thing)?
- Should uppercase characters like, the latin capital A, have tcase()
data in addition to the lcase() data?
