External MWI question for Asterisk
Hey there. I've been working on a project to integrate Asterisk with
Exchange Unified Messaging via sipX using large parts borrowed from:
http://blog.lithiumblue.com/2007/04/accessing-exchange-2007-unified_29.html
... and everything works surprisingly well. The one problem I have is MWI,
or a lack thereof. Exchange 2007 doesn't support MWI of any kind (!), so

Bunch of set-up/usage questions (SLA, MWI, SMS proxy's, crypto, Fax, etc)
Howdy,
Excuse the neophyte questions... I was wondering:
(1) what's involved in setting up a call with encrypted media (I'm on a
cable network and don't want my calls snooped);
(2) is there a cheat-sheet for configuring Sipura handsets/hardphones
like the SPA-942, and in particular for message-waiting indicator and
shared-line appearances?
(3) my PSTN service provider that I

problem to get MWI working
Hello,
I am trying to get MWI working after integrating Asterisk with CCM.I have followed the instructions in http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+Cisco+CallManager+Voicemail+IntegrationMy problem is that I don't see externnotify's script being called at all in the logs, and not sure if I miss something here!
In Voicemail general I addedpollmailboxes =

Asterisk 1.6, IMAP Voicemail and externnotify
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I have Asterisk sitting between the PSTN and a legacy PBX. Asterisk is
doing some IVR work prior to forwarding calls to the PBX and it also
acts as the voice mail server for the PBX, with Asterisk configured for
IMAP storage.
When a call comes in and the caller leaves a voice mail, the VoiceMail
application calls the program configured in

A way to run extenrnotify when IMAP events take place...
I have IMAP voicemail working with Exchange 2003 using a single username
and password for multiple mailboxes.
Right now, I am setting up asterisk to use voicemail with my Cisco Call
Manager (Which I detest BTW...) and I have everything working, EXCEPT:
I cannot get my externnotify script to run when any changes have been
made to the VoiceMail...
Scenario:
Bob gets a call -> Bob

Remote MWI via IAX?
We have a couple of Asterisk boxes with one being the main system with
everyone's voicemail and the other a slave used merely to link a couple
of remote phones to the main system using IAX.
How can one propagate message waiting indication from the main system to
the remote phones?

Execute command after hangup / MWI
Hi guys,
is there any way to execute a command *after* a caller has hung up the
call? Something like
exten => s,1,Voicemail
exten => s,2,AGI(mwi.agi)
I'd like to turn off the MWI on my cellphone (which is done by gammu[1])
Or does anyone know a way to check the state of the MWI from outside,
i.e. with a cron-job? I'm turning on the MWI with the email-notify from
voicemail, but

Voice Mail Notification
Hi,
Here's the deal. When someone leaves me a voicemail message I want Asterisk to call me on my cellphone by dialing my cellphone number and tell me I have a message. Is this possible? Can anyone cite examples? Most commercial voicemail systems produced in the last 10 years can do this. Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Mike

MWI-related SUBSCRIBE message to send NOTIFY messages changing phones MWI
status.
This is fine for me but I'm wondering what if I were using SIP hardphones
refusing any such NOTIFY without prior SUBSCRIBE (does such phones exist ?)
?
1. In this case, which URI shall use a hardphone to build its SUBSCRIBE
message ?
Here is a hand written example.

voicemail call back loop
I have "externnotify = /var/lib/asterisk/agi-bin/vm_notify.pl" so that when
someone is left a voicemail it will call the person's mobile phone and
prompt them with the new message. The perl script simply originates a call
to a persons mobile phone and connects it to their voicemail using
VoiceMailMain. Problem is when user hangs up from checking their messages,

Voicemail notification
Besides email notification, is there another way to get asterisk notify
the user that they have a message?
Example: Some analog phones have a blinking light that lets the user
know that they have a voicemail message.
Is asterisk capable of doing this?

Externnotify on pollmailboxes=yes
Not sure if this is a bug yet, so I wanted to ask around to see if anyone else was having this issue. I have pollmailboxes=yes set in voicemail.conf but externnotify is not called. I know it isn't the externnotify script because if the changes are done in asterisk then it is called properly, if the changes are done via our webserver then it is not. Also, we use odbc voicemail storage.
Thanks

OT - Explain RDNIS
Hi,
1. Can you explain what RDNIS is when it should used with Asterisk ?
I've read this http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/RDNIS but I'm still
wondering if I should use it.
My understanding is:
when dialing out through an ISDN line, Asterisk is sending two numbers
(using signalling channel) :
- one is CALLERID(num) which is supposed to be whatever the Asterisk admin
whishes to be,
- one

Newbie question: how to proxy the *real* caller-id on find-me/follow-me
I've got the following set up:
Someone calls into my PBX on a single number (via SIP trunk from my
carrier), and the get a voice menu of extensions.
On one of the extensions, it rings a bunch of internal SIP hardphones,
plus ringing my cellphone via a hairpin through the cairrier's SIP/PSTN
gateway.
The issue is that my cellphone shows my PBX's number, not the original

outdial to phone for new VM notification
Hi all,
Does anyone have an application/script or extensions.conf file which will do
the following?
"When a new VoiceMail is left for a user, the asterisk system will place a
call to a cellphone/pstn number(via some provider). When the user answers
his cell/home phone, comedian mail will ask for his password and he can
check his Asterisk VM?"
Anyone have any examples of it

Cisco 79xx logon/logoff
Hi All,
I'd like to know if anyone has figured out a way to be able to have
users logon/logoff manually from Cisco 79xx phones (with SIP firmware
loaded)?
Scenario is, user walks into office, sits at a random desk, and logs
onto the phone. The system would need to "log them off" of the last
hardphone they were on, and then configure the new phone for their
extension.

Can asterisk give half-ring periodically for MWI?
Hi all,
Configuration: Analog phone connected to TDM400p.
I'd like the phone to give a half-ring (chirp) periodically when there
is a message waiting. Can this be done? How is it configured?
The visible "Message waiting" indicator and the stutter dial tone are
working fine, but are not sufficient for me.
Thanks!

email notification regression between 2.2 and 2.3
Hi,
Hello.
For the last year, each time i've tried updating dovecot from 2.2.x to
2.3.x, I had to rollback because of the following problem:
Users don't "see" new emails arriving in subdirs.
To be specific
* we mostly use/tested thunderbird client
* we use maildrop for delivery
* this is using imap, not pop3
* when a new email arrives, thunderbird renders the dir name in
