Asterisk 1.8 IAX Registration
Hi,
Have just been testing asterisk 1.8.0, 1.8.0-rc5 and a trunk version from about half an hour ago.
IAX Friends (Zoiper Softphones) don't stay registered for more than a few seconds they start out with status unknown and quickly become unreachable, I am using realtime with postgresql, with tables and configuration that have worked fine for IAX in 1.6 and a trunk release from a few months

RHL init.d/sshd ipv6 hack
Hello all,
I'm using the attached patch.
With it, if you add
OPTIONS="-6"
in
/etc/sysconfig/sshd
(this kind of sysconfig/<name> is a pretty normal RHL practice), then you
can enable ipv4 and ipv6 on RHL without problems and without having to
modify the init.d/sshd script.
This or something like should IMO be added.

CEL ODBC problem in 1.8.0
Hi,
I have been experimenting with CEL in a trunk version of asterisk for some time and have upgraded my test machine to 1.8.0 today.
Made a few calls and it looks like the eventtype field is missing in the CEL insert query when using ODBC. I see the following errors on the console:
[Oct 22 21:46:09] WARNING[952]: res_odbc.c:634 ast_odbc_prepare_and_execute: SQL Execute returned an error -1:

GotoIfTime problem - possible bug
Hi,
I'm currently doing some testing against asterisk 1.6.1.7-rc2 (keep meaning to upgrade) and am having a problem with the GotoIfTime dial plan function.
The asterisk book says that day of week field can include the ampersand (&) to combine multiple days / day ranges but this gives me an error.
For example mon&wed gives the error (in the asterisk console):

Realtime and Local Channel Crash Problem 1.8.3-rc2
Hi,
I have been having a problem with asterisk crashing when using local channels and realtime on asterisk 1.8.3-rc2.
The example given here is I think the easiest way to reproduce this problem.
In extensions.conf I have:
[internal]
switch => Realtime/extensions/p
exten => 301,1,Answer()
exten => 301,2,Dial(Local/501 at internal)
exten => 301,3,Hangup()

VMware tools not installing init.d script
Has anyone else seen this on Centos 6.x x64?
Running vSphere 5.0 and I install tools from the VMware tar.gz file with '
vmware-install-tools.pl -d' it seems to do all the usual/right things. Once
completed there is no 'vmware-tools' listed in 'chkconfig --list'. A reboot
of the box leaves vmware tools not running.
I have tried completely uninstalling tools and

bug?: building RPM of 2.5.1p1 uses wrong pam.d/ssh file for RH6 vs RH7
(I'm using RedHat 6.2 and openssl-0.9.5a-3)
After rebuilding binary RPMs using openssh-2.5.1p1-1.src.rpm, I was unable
to ssh in to a system upgraded to the new openssh-server-2.5.1p1.rpm
After the failure, /var/log/messages on the destination indicated lots of
PAM errors of the form "sshd[22814]: PAM

OpenSSH 2.3.0p1: Problem with the init script in the RPM
There is a problem in the contrib/redhat/sshd.init script: it starts
sshd without specifying the full path (/usr/bin/sshd for the RPM
installation). The daemon starts up and works, but dies when it receives
a SIGHUP, because it is unable to re-exec itself without the full path.

Bug#404078: "/etc/init.d/xend" wrongly shows /etc/init.d/xen-utils
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
Severity: minor
Here's an excerpt from /etc/init.d/xend:
*)
N=/etc/init.d/xen-utils
echo "Usage: $N {start|stop|restart|force-reload}" >&2
exit 1
;;
This will obviously display a wrong path when the script is called with
unknown arguments.

PATCH: make contrib/redhat/sshd.init work with older RH releases
Damien--
Attached is a patch to contrib/redhat/sshd.init which eliminates the
dependency on the success() and failure() functions from
initscripts>=4.16. This allows sshd.init to be used for both early and
recent releases of Red Hat Linux (i've confirmed it works on both 4.2
and 5.2 as well as 6.2).
The patch also removes the 'Requires: initscripts >= 4.16' line from

/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs freezes during boot up
I have another problem, but I have found a work around. However, I don't
know why it works. I was hoping someone could help.
With some help from some previous people on the list, I have my CentOS 4
install to work. I had some previous problems with PCMCIA freezing which
was caused by my video card. The next thing to freeze was
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs. My first work around was to linux

Can't start pand -- is the problem in /etc/rc.d/init.d/pand?
I have been stepping into pand. There is nothing I can find on this
list about getting pand working. There are some instructions on
wifi.bluez.org that seem to be redhatish, but....
I have edited /etc/sysconfig/pand:
PANDARGS='--listen --role GN --master'
I have created a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bnep0:
DEVICE=bnep0
BOOTPROTO=none
ONBOOT=no
IPADDR=192.168.201.101

start valgrind and asterisk via init.d script
List,
Anybody have a script around that will do this? We have to run
valgrind and asterisk to help troubleshoot a bug in the tracker.
Since we do not know how to reproduce the error, we'd like to run them
from an init.d script (simalar to safe_asterisk), email on crash, and
restart asterisk.
Ideas?
Thanks,
PB

/etc/init.d/ overwritten
Hello,
Upon trying to install 3.0.2, after executing install.sh, all of the
system''s /etc/init.d/* scripts are gone. Only /etc/init.d/xend and
/etc/init.d/xendomains remain.
Thanks,
Brian

debian/{rules,init.d} DESTDIR and $VPNMASK fixes
The two one-liner patches below are made against the current tinc CVS
tree. The debian/rules patch replaces the prefix=blah on the "make install"
line with DESTDIR=blah. The prefix is correctly set for /usr, but is
overridden with the current make install. DESTDIR is the clean way to
relocate the installation into the debian/tmp build dir.
The second patch strips the newline off
