ISDN, BRI, PRI, voice over IP, and more...
Hi, I am thinking of starting a project at Work to pilot to use of Astrisk and VOIP, and would like to tie in several projects together. Currently we are looking at purchasing an ISDN and H.323 based video conferencing system from Polycom. It suggests the use of 3-4 BRI lines (ie 6-8 B channels, but in the form of individual BRIs). We need ISDN for the video conferencing to communicate with

WiFi SIP phone w/VPN?
Hi, all. My subject line says it all: is there a WiFi SIP phone with VPN abilities? Failing that, a WiFi phone that runs Linux? I already know one phone that does meet my requirements -- the iPhone. The new software comes with a Cisco VPN client, and a SIP client can be had from third-party vendors for jailbroken phones. And, while I'm not averse to the idea, a) it ain't cheap, and b)

ISDN 4 BRI card for UK
Hello I want to setup an Asterisk in several offices with 4 BRI ISDN. I am looking for recommendations on hardware. Criteria would be ease of setup, reliability and cost. The Eicon 4 BRI cards seem fairly pricey. Shame Digium don't do a ISDN BRI card. Angus -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

"Decent" sub-$100 SIP phone.
Hey, all. I quoted a customer about $100 for some cheap SIP phones. I was planning on using the BT-102's, but he called said they look like "Princess phones," and I have to admit that he has a point. Some of the other inexpensive phones look decent, but (for example) the SPA-841's wiki entry says the remote end gets a lot of static. Since it'll be being used from a noisy

Ordering BRI From AT&T
Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I have a business customer in the U.S. (Michigan, AT&T Territory). I need to get 4 trunks into an asterisk Box. My intention is to use an Eicon Diva Server card with 2 BRI Circuits. The reason for this is that the business needs DID's on the trunks (20 of them). A full or fractional PRI is overboard for them, as they will

Samba for AD client?
Hey, all. I'm planning on migrating a W2K3 server to a Linux solution. It needs to be AD-aware, support ACLs, etc. This isn't something I'm doing Right Now(tm), so I can wait a little bit. A couple questions: 1) Are there any known issues with BTRFS? 2) Which version of Samba would be most appropriate for this? 3) AD integration: I've never really done it (with success); any

Receptionist GUI?
Hey, all. Just wondering if there's a GUI out there -- preferably OSS, but I'll take what-have-you -- that a) can run on an Ubuntu/Debian box, and b) allows a receptionist to see what calls are in-process, and forward calls from their phone to somewhere else. Your "favorite" Asterisk application.
Hi, all. I've done some Asterisk recelling, but recently got roped into a Sr. SysAdmin position. Our PBX is c. 1823, and -- well, as pretty much all circuit-based systems do, it sucks. It sucks to administer, moves suck... you know the drill. So, I'd love change to an Asterisk system. My boss, who loves to spend money for no particular reason, wants to go proprietary, though. So

o''reilly''s arrogance
although basically hopeful of the company''s ''rough cuts'' venture, i am insulted by the fact that o''reilly''s safari service offers important material to its regular subscribers only if they pay extra for it. o''reilly''s material on ajax is a good example: all of the introductory coverage is available only as pricey ''rough

Router Recommendations Please
Hello all, We've discovered that VoIP (IAX2) + Citrix + Video is pegging the measly CPU on the Netopia router our ISP provided. We've got 3Mb/3Mb and will increase to 4/4 next year. The Netopia simply breaks out our WAN IPs, and we've got a switch hooked up to it on the inside (Actually I've got a QoS box in-between). ------------- | Internet | | on Cat5 | -------------

Google Voice-like feature.
I'd *really* like to be able to have a call ring three different cell phones; then, if someone answers, they have to somehow acknowledge the call for it to be directed to them. That way, if one of the phones is off, or out of range, it doesn't go straight to that phone's voicemail. Asterisk 1.4 -- though I could probably upgrade. Suggestions on how to make this happen? Thanks!

PSTN to VoIP FXO gateways?
Sure would like to hear experiences using various FXO to VoIP gateways with *. It seems that any thread that has anything to do with problematic FXO interfaces goes on forever with speculation about everything under the sun. Unless there is someone out there with the engineering experience to build a better one it is a waste of time, let Digium deal with it. If the TDM400P can ever be made 99.99%

Voicemail in 1.4?
I got dragged away from Asterisk (somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse for system administration), but I'm thinking about seeing if I can't get it deployed at my new employer. Regardless, there are two things about older voicemail that used to annoy me: - Dial by name. Has anyone made it so it can be first or last? - Jump to voicemail; you used to have to actually dial the

Polycom firmware: split vs. combined
http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/sip_sw_releases_matrix.html Howdy, all. What's the difference between "split" and "combined" firmware, which can be seen at the above link? I've googled to no avail, I'm afraid. Thanks! -Ken -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

Anyone running a business hosting plan @ textdrive?
I currently run a handfull of sites on a MediaTemple VPS - which is blazing fast and very cheap for what I get. BUT installing rails and mysql v4 was a major pain in my ass, along with other things. I''m considering switching to a Textdrive business hosting plan but wanted to get some feedback from list members first. I pay about $200 a month quarterly for my MediaTemple service.

[LLVMdev] June 2007 LLVM Developer's Meeting
For those of you coming from out of the area and who may not be familiar with the bay area. TRAVEL: The closest airport is San Jose International Airport (SJC; 10 miles away). There is also San Francisco Internation Airport (SFO; 43 miles away) or Oakland (OAK; 49 miles away). IMHO, I would choose SJC, then SFO, and lastly OAK, depending upont he prices.
