I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D --configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon. I'm trying to use rsync (2.5.6 on both sides) to copy a home directory from one system (Solaris 2.6) to another (Solaris 9); the command is running on the Sol9 version and is fetching files; I'm using rsync with SSH, rather than in client/server mode. The command line I've used is: rsync --archive --verbose --rsh=ssh rsr@fold:/home/rsr /home I've attempted this both as the rsr

Call for testing for 3.6
We are heading into a lock here. So we need to get people to test their respective platforms if they wish them to be supported out of the tar file. So if you have any patches you need to ensure your platform works speak up. We are looking at a lock on the 17th. I believe I have an AIX/Cray patch and a Tru64 patch sitting in my mailbox that I'll be looking at soon and more than likely

Here's a recipe for Samba+Active Directory on Solaris 9
Samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 9 with Active Directory =============================================== Dan Shearer Version 1.0 May 2006 Official Samba binaries for Solaris 9 are not enabled for ADS support. Enabling ADS is much harder than it looks, mostly because of the crazy Solaris 9 build environment. Here is the simplest reproducable recipe I could find for ADS-enabled Samba on a default fresh

passdb/pdb_ldap.c compile fails, samba-3.0.9
Any ideas? I've found similar complaints about ldapsam_delete_entry not building, but it wasn't helpful here. I'm using openldap-2.3.4 and krb5-1.3.1 on Sol9. Please CC me; I'm not on the list. Solaris NSS/winbind problem - large groups
Hello All, It seems that 'getent group groupname' hangs on large groups for Solaris 8/9 running winbind. Currently running Samba 3.0.20 but also tried 3.0.10. 'ls -l' also hangs if listing a file created by a user who's primary group is too large(such as Domain Users). Users can still access the files but netbackups hang. The problem I am experiencing is found in the

Buig in bin/R script (PR#9375)
Full_Name: Gordon Lack Version: 2.4.0 OS: OSF1 v5.1 Submission from: (NULL) (198.28.92.5) Changes to the bin/R front-end interlude script at 2.4.0 (cf: 2.2.0) have broken R on (Dec/Compaq/HP) OSF1. long filenames (8.3) issue
Hi there, We map a Sun Microsystems (Solaris 9) drive to a Windows 2003 server. This works fine except for the long UNIX (tm) filenames that are mapped as truncated 8.3 filenames on the MS server. Needless to say for backup purposes this defeats the object. I have scanned the archives but must be looking in the wrong places because I am unable to find a solution to this problem. Can anyone
