solaris 9 and compiling
Hello,
I have a problem to build the samba_3.0 sources for sol9 , i am running
gcc-3.3. It works , but the binaries became huge , the samba.pkg is about
450 MB . Now my question; do i need any compiler flags ? i did it with
default-settings.
But as i said , it works , i can join domains , hope there is a sun-guru.

The command line I've used is:

Call for testing for 3.6
We are heading into a lock here. So we need to get people to test their
respective platforms if they wish them to be supported out of the tar file.
So if you have any patches you need to ensure your platform works speak
up. We are looking at a lock on the 17th.
I believe I have an AIX/Cray patch and a Tru64 patch sitting in my mailbox
that I'll be looking at soon and more than likely

Here's a recipe for Samba+Active Directory on Solaris 9
Samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 9 with Active Directory

Dan Shearer

Official Samba binaries for Solaris 9 are not enabled for ADS
support. Enabling ADS is much harder than it looks, mostly because of
the crazy Solaris 9 build environment.
Here is the simplest reproducable recipe I could find for ADS-enabled

problems building / starting test40 + test42
Hi
I was trying to build test40 (and then test42, since it came out in the mean
time) on my fresh Solaris 9 box at home, and ran into a few snags.
First problem was during the build. Make spat the dummy in the auth directory:
Making all in auth

Current working directory /home/pkg/dovecot-1.0-test42/src/auth

passdb/pdb_ldap.c compile fails, samba-3.0.9
Any ideas? I've found similar complaints about ldapsam_delete_entry not
building, but it wasn't helpful here. I'm using openldap-2.3.4 and
krb5-1.3.1 on Sol9.
Please CC me; I'm not on the list. Oh, and thanks :)

Solaris NSS/winbind problem - large groups
Hello All,
It seems that 'getent group groupname' hangs on large groups for Solaris 8/9
running winbind. Currently running Samba 3.0.20 but also tried 3.0.10.
'ls -l' also hangs if listing a file created by a user who's primary group
is too large(such as Domain Users). Users can still access the files but
netbackups hang.
The problem I am experiencing is found in the

Buig in bin/R script (PR#9375)
Full_Name: Gordon Lack
Version: 2.4.0
OS: OSF1 v5.1
Submission from: (NULL) (198.28.92.5)
Changes to the bin/R front-end interlude script at 2.4.0 (cf: 2.2.0) have broken
R on (Dec/Compaq/HP) OSF1.
There are 3 occurrences of "${@}", but this is the incorrect syntax for adding
$@, as on older Bourne shells this will add an empty (but present) parameter.
The result is that the build

long filenames (8.3) issue
Hi there,
We map a Sun Microsystems (Solaris 9) drive to a Windows 2003 server.
This works fine except for the long UNIX (tm) filenames that are mapped
as truncated 8.3 filenames on the MS server. Needless to say for backup
purposes this defeats the object. I have scanned the archives but must
be looking in the wrong places because I am unable to find a solution to
this problem. Can anyone

Fwd: Sol9 make failure of samba 3.2.2 with gcc 3.4.6 -- libtalloc.so.1
I'm on Solaris 9 sparc. Current versions are:
gcc 3.4.6 (sunfreeware pkg)
MIT krb5-1.6.3 (source)
openldap-2.4.11 (compiled with --with-tls and --enable-crypto)
