[charlescurley@charlescurley.com: Re: Wine tools problems?]
After I sent this, I realized it should also go to the list. ----- Forwarded message from Charles Curley <charlescurley@charlescurley.com> ----- Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2005 11:02:44 -0700 From: Charles Curley <charlescurley@charlescurley.com> To: Joachim von Thadden <thadden@web.de> Subject: Re: [Wine]Wine tools problems? Delorme Street Atlas 8 and ISO images
Being lazy, I'd just as soon not be swapping CDs in and out of the CD drive to use Street Atlas 8. So I slurped the SA 8 data CD into an ISO image, which I then mount as a loopback device. I created a symlink in ~/.wine/dosdevices, s: (and it took me a while to get the syntax for that right :-). winefile and fn.exe (http://www.charlescurley.com/fn.html) have no problems with the iso image. Street Atlas 8.0 Extractor
I mentioned earlier that I had DeLorme Street Atlas 8.0 working on wine. It comes with a separate program, the extractor. This will pull parts of the map CD and store them locally so that the main program does not have to refer to the CD for those parts of the map. I had one problem which I overcame: it was looking for h:\refnc. I have no idea why it was looking on h:, as the CD-ROM is on d: and

Wine success: HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
I had need of a bit of computer archeology (oddly enough, for a couple of archaeologists, but that's another story). I used Henry Bartlett' HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3) (http://www.hotkey.net.au/~hambar/habit/wsconvrm.htm) to convert some Wordstar for Mess-DOS files to text and HTML. It worked just fine under wine (http://www.winehq.org). wine-20041201-1fc3winehq on Fedora Core 3

Wine and Delorme Street Atlas 2005
Hello, I'm sorry if this is a repeat post, but I have been working on this for the better part of the year now. I am trying to get Delorme Street Atlas 2005 to run under wine. So far, I've been successful in getting the program to run and talk to my RS232 GPS. This means, I have all the database updates, IE6, etc loaded and apparently working (AFAIK). I am using wine to emulate

Street Atlas 8.0?
Hi, Lotus Notes 5.05 works great! Thanks....now, has any one gotten Street Atlas 8.0 to run with wine? I get the starting splash screen from SA8.0 and a bunch of fixme:font messages (I don't think I care about these?). Then I get both a Windows box stating "Failed to create empty document." and get "err:msg:DispatchMessageA BeginPaint not called on WM_PAINT for hwnd

[Q] Finale, Delrome Street Atlas, Real Flight G3
Hello. I found out that the new Windows Vista requires too much for my notebook computer. Although my Thinkpad R32 is quite usable and pretty fast, Windows Vista requires 128MB of VRAM and so on. So, I am thinking about replacing the Windows with the Linux. However, there are three critical programs I need to use on the Linux. 1. Delrome Street Atlas 2006 with the Earthmate GPS 2. Finale -

Running DeLorme Street Atlas
I have had a lot of problems with my XP system recently so I would like to convert over to Linux (Ubuntu) and the use of Street Atlas 2006 is the only thing really standing in my way. I installed Wine 1.0 and installed Street Atlas using it. SA brings up the basic map programs but not everything works correctly yet. I have observed the following error messages so far:

matrix inversion using solve() and matrices containing large/small values
Hello I've stumbled upon a problem for inversion of a matrix with large values, and I haven't found a solution yet... I wondered if someone could give a hand. (It is about automatic optimisation of a calibration process, which involves the inverse of the information matrix) code: ********************* > macht=0.8698965 > coeff=1.106836*10^(-8) >

Libvirt dnsmasq oddity
I seem to have hit an oddity in how dnsmasq operates for libvirt. I have two host machines each with several guests. One of those is also the local samba server. Guests on the non-samba server can resolve the samba server's host name correctly, so far without fail. Guests on the samba server sometimes get the correct IP address for the samba server, and other times get an IP address for the

wineconsole with Darwine on Intel Mac OS X
Hello. I'm trying to launch wineconsole in Darwine (binary distribution 0.9.12) to run a CUI based program. However, Darwine doesn't seem to include any of wine's command-line based executables to run in OS X's Terminal application. So I'm somewhat at a loss on how to run wineconsole. Can you guys offer any help? Thanks in advance!

Need help: wineconsole BAT file run hangs
I am using wine-1.1.42 on ubuntu 9.04 to run a winxp machine control program. The program is run using a BAT file: wineconsole run.bat If the program runs successfully, it will create a log file with OK message in the body. wineconsole : problem solved !
Hi Eric, I finally manage to use wineconsole. Fix needed : install the NVidia headers provided in the documentation part of the package when installing it with a RedHat distribution. They will overwrite the (wrong) headers needed to link with a Mesa installation provided in the default XFree86-devel package. They are for use of the builtin nv driver.

Out of memory using wineconsole
Hi, I tried to launch Windows ME's ftp.exe with wineconsole. Command line was : wineconsole --winver=winme ftp In result my system hangs, found in /var/log/messages : snoop kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 14041 (wineconsole). Strange, because I have no problem running ftp without wineconsole. I have sufficient memory (208 MB swap,256MB physical).
