*.ocx files only in system directory ?
I'm working on installing windows applications on a multi user gnu/linux box.
The application needs some native .dll and .ocx files...
Those files should not reside in wine's system directory but in the applications's directory
so every user can use the application without having to copy the files to his system dir.
Everything works fine for the DLLs. But it seems OCX are expected to

WINEDEBUG variable doesn't seem to work in 20050830
Is there a problem with the WINEDEBUG environment variable in 20050830? I've only been using Wine
for a little over a week. I recognize that the online documentation is somewhat out of date with the
introduction of the winecfg tool and use of the registry. I know that the WINEDLLOVERRIDES variable
still works as I've been able to use that to use native libraries to get Pegasus

wcmd crashes all the time on the set command.
Below is a crash I get on my gentoo box when I execute

caused by wine using the entire enviornment from my

dns name server under wine?
Hi all,
I am newbe here, please forgive me for asking something that might be
obvious to everybody.
I've spend last few hours searching through google for "dns settings
wine", "network settings wine", "nameserver wine" and through wine docs on
winehq, couldn't find anything which would help me.
Problem: win32 app (which uses FQDNs, not plain IP

Meetingmaker 8
We are running meetingmaker in the office I'm working in. We've been
using oldish version 7.5 which have worked fine. Now we are trying to
upgrade to meetingmaker 8, which is causing problems for our linux users
running it under wine.
There are two problems with meetingmaker 8 under wine: Something is
causing it to consume a lot of cpu cycles even when it seems to sit

Can't load native dll
When I try to load winelib dll I get an error message:
"err:module:MODULE_LoadLibraryExA Loading of native
DLL <dllname> failed (error 193), check this file."
The error message is printed for call:
DllHandle = LoadLibrary(DllName);
This happens even when I try to load standard Wine
dlls, like dlls/msisys.ocx.so
Did I miss something obvious?
Thanks,

Flash Movie Player Control in VB
Hi all,
I just started messing with wine (0.9.54 on Ubuntu 7.04-Feisty) a few weeks
ago and there's some educational software I want to be able to run. It was
made with VB, and I've managed to get it working fairly well except for an
ActiveX control for showing Flash movies (.swf). I think it's unable to
load the swf file because the box where the movie should show is blank, and

Problem with ADO connection
Hi,
First a big Thank You to the wine developers. Your efforts are greatly
appreciated and have allowed me to move users to Linux that I could
never have moved otherwise.
I am currently setting up desktops for 7 end users, but doing so
requires that I get a particular application (The Electronic Manual)
which is a parts catalog for the restaurant equipment service industry.
The application

IE7
Ok I got IE7 working, mainly because of Steam, but I wanted to see if I
could get flash working, aparently activex controls won't install
correctly. Is there a way to fix this? (i've tried Winetricks for flash but
it tells me the .exe hash doesn't match or something). Anyways, just
curious, not to use ie in linux but mainly to get flash working since steam
seems to use IE for

Specific DllOverrides won't work...
Hi all,
I recently succeed using on of my apps under Wine. But with the config,
I meet a problem : I can't have both IE and my app workig, due to the
use of native comctl32.dll and commctrl.dll.
I wanted to specify this only for my app, as others won't work if I set
it as global DllOverride.
So here is what I did :
[DllOverrides]

[AppDefaults\\maxpayne.exe\\x11drv]
"Desktop" = "800x600"
loading winedbg/wine MaxPayne.exe --debugmsg +loaddll,+reg gives :

DCOM98.DLL & DLLOVERRIDES for 0.9 ?
Hi. I only had wine 20041019 on an FC2 install Had to run winesetuptk to get
a config file, and also thanks to Franks Corner installed DCOM98 and ran the
DLLOVERRIDES stuff. I've now DL'd version 0.9-1 for FC1,2, and 3, also on
Debian with aptitude. Right. I've installed the .rpm on FC2. Set the windows
version to win98 in winecfg, and that is also set as default to use Alsa. I

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Start Windows application from another windows application]]
Just some extra info:
I used my knoppix 3.8.1 CD (which I occasionally use on my company XP
laptop) to boot and I installed ptgui, panotools, autopano and enblend
(which required some tweaking due to the ramdisk config). Everything ran
fine as it used to do in windows. Knoppix 3.8.1 is a modified debian
system running kernel 2.6 and it uses wine 20050310.
So my problem can't be a hardware

Problems installing Watchguard Firebox System software in wine (installshield)
Hello,
I am trying to use WINE (20050725-r1 on Gentoo Linux) to install/run
Watchguard's Firebox Management Software (WFS). The WFS installer uses
an installshield installer of course.. I've been looking thru the FAQ,
wiki, etc and have found info about DCOM98 needing to be installed.
I've tried a bunch of things so far, and here's where I stand:
First, I tried getting

Probably a newbie problem, but my knowledge in Linux is so limited, so please Help!
Hi
I guess I should start by telling the truth, I'm not a Linux user (yet)
and I've never tried Linux in my entire life.
The reason that I got very interested in WINE is that I've developed a
Strategy Game for WIn32.
I don't like to discourage Linux people to enjoy my game. Since it's a
rewrite of a Mac game, there's a bunch of Linux users who would like to.
The game,
