fit to spike with exponential decay : optim() question
I finally got (mostly) what I wanted. In an attempt to figure out how to get nls to deal with a non-differentiable function, I had (stupidly) 'simplified' the problem until it became singular. Can I do something to make optim() less sensitive to my initial guess? For this example, I get a lousy solution if I make the initial guess for t0 = min(t) = 0.05. Thanks again, -- Robert Merithew

STAR (Spike Train Analysis with R) uploaded on CRAN
Hi all, I've uploaded STAR (Spike Train Analysis with R) on CRAN two days ago. The package is designed to analyze neuronal spike (action potential) trains. It uses S3 classes and methods and makes heavy use of other CRAN packages like gss, R2HTML, mgcv, survival. * Analysis of both spontaneous and stimulus evoked activity is implemented for single neuron spike trains as well as for many

Singal channel spike in controls with custom microRNA slides - Normalization help needed
Hi, I'm working with custom slides(Cy5) and working in the normalization of the arrays. I have three arrays (technical replicates). I have sucesfully normalized the data using vsn, however i would like to normalize using spike in controls. My controls are annotated as CTL-1 to x and i would like to do etiher a normalization by block per array or the mean of all the controls per array. The gal

Outbound traffic spike every 30 minutes
Since Sunday morning, one of my CentOS servers has been generating a small spike of outbound traffic every 30 minutes (X:00 and X:30). It's not enough traffic to really cause any notice except for the fact that it is a very regular pattern and it started abruptly at midnight Sunday. This server is used for mail (Courier-MTA), and DNS (Bind). I cannot find anything unusual in either of

dovecot-auth Temporary But Frequent CPU Spike
Hi.. I am setting up a new server (2GHz CPU, Ubuntu 8.10) and am using dovecot for an IMAP server. I have installed dovecot 1.1.4 and Squirrelmail 1.4.15. sudo dovecot -n shows this: # 1.1.4: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf log_timestamp: %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S protocols: imap login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable: /usr/lib/dovecot/imap-login login_process_per_connection: no

yp server resources spike
BTW, there seems to be an issue with the yp servers traffic handling. After motherfish came back up today (from 3 days of downtime) mysql drove the load average up to 200, with the maximum number of mysqld instances all spinning in some kind of active wait. I attached to several but strace showed no activity during the period I was watching. This is quite bad; we assumed something was wrong

Anyone know of a pass through ATA
Anyone know of a company that makes a pass through ATA? By pass through I mean have an Ethernet switch built into the ATA, like most desktop phones have. All of the dual ethernet ATA's I have seen have WAN/LAN ports, not two LAN ports. I fooled around with DMZ etc...but it just doesn't work as well. Could Asterisk be crashing under high context switches?
Hello! I have been struggling with Asterisk 1.6 and DAHDI for the past few weeks. We are an outgoing call center with 30 internal analog phones hooked up to 2 Rhino CB24 channel banks. The banks are connected to a Rhino R4T1 card in a Dell 2950 server with 8 gigs of RAM. The 2 other ports on the R4T1 go to our 2 PRIs. In this configuration, we have trouble maintaining stability. It may be fine

System load spike on dovecot reload
Hi everyone, I'm running dovecot with quite a lot of users and lots of active imap connections (like 20'000). I'm using different user IDs for users, so I need to have imap {service_count=1} - i.e. I have a lots of imap processes running. Everything works fine, until I reload dovecot configuration. When that happen, every client is forced to relogin in the same time and that

Polycom - Buddy Watch not a choice when adding Speed Dial
Hello, On our Polycom phones we can not activate the Buddy Watch feature. When you add or edit a contact, the list ends at "Auto Divert".....I know it is the end of the list b/c the down arrow on the right side of the screen disappears when I get to Auto Divert. When I add <bw>1</bw> manually to the speed dial file it doesn't change anything. The buttons work well for

Force Jitter Buffer for SIP to SIP calls
We have a customer on a wireless connection that has very bad jitter. They can hear people fine, but people have a very hard time hearing them. They are connected via a SPA-2102. It is a SIP client going to a SIP trunk. Something like this in sip.conf [general] would be in effect for all SIP clients: jbenable = yes jbmaxsize = 150 jbresyncthreshold = 1000 jbimpl = fixed jblog = yes I only want

Tinc Network Spikes
Hi, ? I've recently moved from OpenVPN to Tinc for the mesh setup. Everything works nicely except for some looping packet issues. ? I have 12 servers around the United States, including a couple of moving clients. Every now and then the network is flooded with what I assume is looping packets. 200-300MB of bandwidth per node over 10-45 minutes (normally < 20 KB/s, idle). Most if not all

Interesting One Way Audio
I have an Asterisk box, 1.4.30 with a PRI. A Mitel 3300 is connected to the Asterisk box via SIP trunking. When a user calls from the Mitel through the Asterisk box the user can speak but can not hear the far end. But - when I route the Mitel user to echo() it works, send and receive. The Mitel user also can record and playback greetings. One thing I have noticed is that when the Mitel user

Asterisk 1.62.13 - CPU spikes every 10 minutes
Hi, I've been getting regular CPU usage spikes(50%-80%), due to asterisk (according to top). I never noticed this on 1.4, and I have top running in the background pretty much all the time. In between those spikes Asterisk stays under 10% CPU usage (I have a transcoder card, which helps). It's very regular, never any missed spike, or any spike in between the regular spikes. I

Zap Clocking - Frame Slips - tdm400p wcfxo zttest cpu spikes spandsp
I've made some modifications to zttest in order to use it as a frame clock accuracy tester / slip detector. I'm not certain if that was it's original purpose, but it seems that a lot of folks try to use it that way. The result is something that I'm calling ztclock for now to help avoid confusion. I'm including the source at the end of this post. You can compile it by placing
