More Cores or more CPU Speed
Hi Guys, in next week i plan to upgrade my Asterisk Server. To buy the optimal Hardware i have a question. What is better more cores (eg. 2x quadcore) or more CPU speed for a server that handle a lot of of Meetme Concerences with hundreds of concurrent G711 alaw Channels (no transcoding) ? in my opinion, more cores are better, because Asterisk ist multithreded and each channel has a good

How many threads?
Hi, Is there a relationship between number of sources <sources> and number for threadpool <threadpool> configured in icecast.xml? If I have 50 sources, what should be the value for threadpool? If I increase number of sources to 100, what should be the value for threadpool? Does it increase linearly? Thanks, Madhuri

MeetMe CPU resources
Hello, We would like to have a conference with 15 users aprox. We think that Pentium 4 3GHz and 1GB of RAM should be enough. Only Asterisk running. We wonder if somebody has some other experience, good or bad. We will use Asterisk 1.2 (it is a small and short project for only this). Use voice onset timing to identify voiceless
In increasing the computation time and bit rate with VBR: Has anyone considered implementing the standard audiological recognition technique of using the duration of zero energy (voice onset timing) to identify the presence of voiceless sounds? I would like a means of determining whether or not a given window will be full of voiced speech or not. Matt -- The swallow may fly south with the sun

*** Asterisk Sunday News: Conferences on the phone and IRL - "in real life"
Here in Sweden, it's supposed to be springtime. A wonderful time of the year, with sunny skies and wonderful weather. Almost summer. Today, it's not. It's winter all over again with rain and only 3 degrees celsius outside. Better to stay inside and write a weekly Asterisk newsletter :-) This week's topics: ------------------- * Looking beyond Asterisk 1.0/1.1 - what's up? *

Video Conference
Is Asterisk capable of handling video conference? I am wondering if there is anybody in the list who tried it with NetMeeting(s). If it is possible, is the * required to register in the GK for this purpose? or making it as h323gw only is enough. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Total newbie here looking to do a VoIP conference call?

All of the employees have high speed internet. Currently we dial up an AT&T conf using regular analog phones. I don't have a great grasp as to what Asterick is capable of, but my

I have benn having trouble with the Monitor Command. Basically any time that I send a call into a MeetMe room I am only able to monitor half of the conversation. File-in is recorded with the incoming voice but file-out does NOT record anything. I have tried this with both the b and m option as well as without any options to the MeetMe command. Also the Monitor correctly records both sides of the

Meetme with moderator
All, I have been beating my head against a wall trying to figure out how I would implement a separate moderator code and participant code for the same conference using meetme, the deal is I dont want the participants to be able to join until the moderator is in the conference. Is it possible to do this using the apps as they are , or is their a way to use an Agi script, is that the only way?
