Are they doing light work, mostly reading from disks? If they're not generating disk IO, then that's not related. However, during a recent set of benchmarks, I found that disk

E1 w/ TE420B EC
I keep getting a red alarm when trying to setup asterisk to use my TE420B EC. I only have a blank context setup in my extensions.conf as I haven't started to config that until I can clear this red alarm. I don't have physical access to the server, so I can't go reseat the modules/card/ethernet cable, though I have hands on location that have done this a couple times

Increase CPU usage on HV after upgrade (7.2 -> 7.3)
Hello , After upgrading the system from CentOS 7.2.1511 to CenOS 7.3.1611 I see that the average processing time has increased from 5-7% to 12-15% (doubled). Not critical but it is not pleasant. Server as KVM with 5 virtual machines. Someone noticed something similar? If so, how to fix that? Thx.

"load" has another meaning in the context of POSIX system performance counters. I'm pretty sure you're talking about CPU utilization and not "load", right?

During recent testing, I found that the read performance of software RAID volumes was worse under 7.3 than it was under 7.2. CPU Usage when idle
Hello guys, Did anyone noticed how green CentOS 6 is compared to the previous release? I've been running a couple of "CentOS 6" VMs (on our vSphere environment) for the last couple of weeks and noticed a BIG difference when it comes to CPU usage when the VM is completely idle. I would like to share what I've seen in our environment: PfSense 2.0 (FreeBSD) VM: 40 Mhz CentOS

FYI, not sure if it's of use to you... but... The digium tc400b is a transcoder card that can offload upto 120 channels of transcoding for g729 <-> ulaw... It's available as PCI only, but, if that's OK, it could be an alternative to replacing your server... G729 licenses are not needed when using that card... There have been posts by some people about having multiple CPU

This cpu usage doesn't seem right.
Perhaps my deffinition of multi-threaded is skewed/wrong... I've got asterisk HEAD running on a 4 proc machine. I'm using top as my guide (and yes I know top sucks, but what else do I use?). I just watched asterisk hit 63% cpu usage for about 5 seconds. There were 5/5 G729 licenses in use and 6 calls up during those 5 seconds. CPU #2 had an idle of 39% and CPU #3 had 98%. CPU's

What is normal CPU usage of dovecot imap?
I got Dual Core Intel Xeon CPU 3.00GHz, over 1000 mailbox and almost 1 dovecot login / second (peak time). Server stats says that load is continually over 2 and cpu usage is 60%. top says that imap is making this load. virtual users are in mysql database and mysqld is running on another server (this server is ok). Do I need better CPU or is there something going on that I do not understand? #

qemu-kvm high cpu usage with idle windows guest
Windows 2k8 R2 guest with updated virtio drivers is idle inside but on the host qemu-kvm process uses 7-15% cpu. Things that have been tried without any significant success - removed tablet device - manually set cpu topology for cores per socket Is it just me or the qemu-kvm has little tolerance with windows?
