Is 'xorg-x11-devel' equivalent to 'XFree86-devel'?
The readme states as requirement that XFree86-devel be installed for RedHat
boxes. I'm running FC4 which doesn't use XFree-86 but xorg-x11. Are these
equivalent, and will the installation of xorg-x11-devel meet the installation
requirments?

unhandled exception on 20050725 install from source on Fedora Core 4
I'm running FC4 with all the latest patches and kernel. I checked the basic
requirements for installation for all necessary packages.
Using the unpacked source, I installed by ./tools/wineinstall per the
readme. I got a long series of errors well into the process, posted below -
I've read the documentation and several help sites including this group and
the user list but can't seem to

IE and Windows Media Player?
Does IE and Windows Media Player (any version) work with Wine 0.9.10 or
the latest CVS version? If so, how to install? I've tried but failed:
* With the latest CVS and sidenet-1.9.1, using option "IE6 with WMP6
installation", the IE setup fails with "The download location information
is damaged".
* With Wine 0.9.10, using the FC4 RPM: The same as above.

MDAC not installing
MDAC is proving to be a pain for me to install. I have so far had nothing but failure. Here is a breakdown of what I'm working from. I am using Ubuntu Linux (Hoary 5.04) and the 20050725 binary install from the instructions here: http://www.winehq.com/site/download-deb Wine installs fine and I can get some core software installed w/o a hitch. I am using the script from here to get IE6,

dcom98.exe fails to install.
I used the tool wine-config-sidenet from
http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html which works great.
I installed wine 20041201 as recommended and started wine-config-sidenet
setup program and IE6 seemed to run great however, some URLs didn't work
for example: www.arkia.co.il.
Looking at the FAQ I noticed I should install dcom98.exe. When
installing it I got windows popup stating:

open/save dialogs hang wine
Hello,
I was really impressed when I managed to install IE6 and Office XP with wine
2005-01-11. They are even pretty stable. However, I have a problem which
renders all ms office suite applications almost unusable (for new documents).
Open and Save dialogs (those "modern" ones) just hang
word/excel/powerpoint/whatever using them and the only way out of this is to
kill wine. Does

Question on preparing WINE
I'm curious...
Since we can no longer use winetools or sidenet to install Windows
updates, components and other software (IE in particular) is there any
other method for installing needed components including IE (other than
IEs4Linux)?
I suppose using IEs4Linux would be okay if I could incorporate it into
my current wine configuration. But it seems to create it's own
implementation of

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
All,
So I have started working with Solaris 10 at work a bit (I''m a Linux
guy by trade) and I have a dying nfs box at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a

Printing through LPRng
At work I am attempting to set up Wine (20050725 with Sidenet) on an
application server with Red Hat 8.0, and the programs we need are
working well. However, the server has 28 printer queues for printers
scattered around the network, and is running LPRng. I found
documentation about creating printer ports that are tied to specific
queues, but I haven't found any sensible means to make

very close but some small error
I'm attempting to install and run a program called ACSL (advanced
continuous simulation language) on wine.
So far the closest I've got is by installing
Wine 20050725
on my Ubuntu (Debian) Linux by using the latest
wine-config-sidenet-1.8.6
which appears to install ok and then installs the software ok.
However when I try to run it using
wine acslX
which should start it I get lots of code

Wine 0.9.11 and Visual Foxpro 9
G'day
I am trying to install Visual FoxPro 9 with wine. I have been following
the instructions from "http://www.paulmcnett.com/vfp/wine/". I have had
to slightly modify the paths used for the symlinks because the format of
version 9 appears to differ from that of version 8. Or it's because they
didn't lend me the original disks.
Basically an extra directory level called

backward step?
Running my jigsaw program, BigJig, under Wine-0.9.17, the screen looks like
it did under early versions (0.9.12 and before), and all the jigsaw
selection thumbnails have gone. This has been the case since version 0.9.15.
I recall that I fixed the layout by installing fonts - something about the
size of the fonts set the size of the buttons. I am running Sidenet, which
links to the Linux fonts.
