Siemens Gigaset S685IP Review
Hi there,
in case anyone is interested, I've just taken ownership of a small home
network (3 handsets) of the brand new Siemens DECT PSTN/VOIP phone.
It works great with Asterisk. Here's my overview and review so far...

Siemens Gigaset IP in USA (S685 IP in particular)
For some unfathomable reason, Siemens USA doesn't offer the Gigaset IP
range in the U.S. I'm particularly interested in the Gigaset S685 IP.
Since it's DECT 6.0, and there's an English (UK) version, I'm thinking
it should work just fine, after dealing with the walwart issue (and
maybe caller ID signalling).
Anyone imported one from the UK and using it in the US? for how

OT - DECT handset with Line key
Hi,
I need to replace digital handsets in offices where there cabling is
appareantly not Ethernet-compliant.
Today's usage is to press a key to toggle between private ou public line
before issuing an outgoing call.
Are you aware of a DECT handset (to overcome cabling limitations) that mimic
this line-key behaviour ?
For instance, acceptable behaviours would be to dial number string and press

Siemens S685IP registration problems
Hi folks,
I wonder if any of you out there are using Siemens S685IP base station(s) (with S68H handsets) on Asterisk and experiencing problems with SIP registrations where the SIP extensions do not ring and peers become unreachable after a period of time.
Symptoms are rather sporadic, but as described, SIP extensions being unreachable from Asterisk perspective. Also experienced 'not

UK SIP Gateway
Hi,
Now that I have Asterisk up and running I would like to find a good SIP gateway in the UK. I have looked at sipgate.co.uk and they look pretty reasonable. I am looking for peoples recommendations.
Apologies if this is the incorrect forum for this type of request.

Multiple SIP endpoint registrations
Hi,
With Asterisk 1.8 is it now possible to register the same SIP account at multiple endpoints and for both to ring when the associated extension is dialed ?

Question on Priorities
Hi,
I am attempting to change my dialplan to use 'n' priorities and labels
for easier reading, and less re-numbering :) but how do you handle the
plus 101 ? In my extensions.conf I have a simple plan for testing :-
[inbound-sip]
exten => uxbod,1,Dial(sip/1001,20,t)
exten => uxbod,n,PlayBack(uxbod)
exten => uxbod,n,VoiceMail(1001@voicemail,s)
exten => uxbod,n,Hangup()

SIP response 482 "Loop Detected"
Hi,
We have tried upgrading from 1.6.1.14 to 1.6.2.9 and have found that we are unable to URI dial our clients. We run a multi-tenant server and have set sip.conf to forward calls to a public context based on incoming domain name. This was all working before but not it is complaining of a loop back as the source and target server are the same.
Any ideas on how to overcome this problem as we dial

DECT SIP phones
Hi folks:
I know it's come up a few times before, but I need some more detail.
I'm looking for a SIP DECT (cordless) phone for North American
installations. I've heard only of the Siemens Gigaset S450/C450 phones.
Apparently these aren't sold for use in NAm, even though they're
supposed to be legal (in the United States, anyway).
On top of that, I understand they have some

DECT phone for home: siemens A510 v. Grandstream DP715
I have an asterisk server at home. I'm looking to replace my internal
phones with sip cordless (DECT) phones. I'm now looking at the Siemens
A510IP base ($90 ) and A510H handset ($40) and the Grandview DP715 base
($80) and DP710 handset ($45).
The Siemens has a feature were I can also use a PSTN landline, but I not
sure that's a great benefit.
Has anybody tried these phones? I

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect.
Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect?
Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable

DAHDI not detecting caller hangup
Hi,
Odd problem have just noticed in that when I call into the PBX DAHDI detects the call and hands it off to the extension, if I then hang up it still continues to process through the dialplan.
This is what I have in chan_dahdi.conf:
[channels]
language=en
echocancel=yes
usecallerid=yes
cidsignalling=v23
sendcalleridafter = 2
hanguponpolarityswitch=yes
rxgain=2.0
txgain=3.0

All phones ringing when temporary loss of Internet
Hi,
This is a real strange one and trying to phantom it out. One of our clients is connected to our Asterisk installation, from two sites, via VPN which works great. Every so often one of the sites VPN tunnel goes does for say a couple of seconds. When that happens all the extensions, including both sites, ring which is bizarre. Has anybody seen this before ? I only see two places in the dial

[UK SPECIFIC] DAHDI and a OpenVox Card
Hi,
Built a new server at the weekend and install Asterisk 1.6.0.9 and IAX and SIP work great :) The one problem I am having is getting the OpenVox (TDM400 type card) to work. It is successfully identified using WCTDM kernel module and dahdi_scan picks it up just fine. The issue is when I try and setup dahdi_channel.conf as it fails everytime. When running asterisk -rvvvv I see the port pick

[NEWBIE] Right dect to buy to use with asterisk
Hello,
I need to setup this configuration:
- asterisk as IVR;
- dect phones.
So basically I need a "standard set" of features:
- each dect phone has its extension so I can call it directly;
- handover of a call with "R" key;
- if a call is not replied by someone ring all phones.
I have little budget. I can choose to buy a fritz!box or a gigasect dect/ip
base station.

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed
