odd issue with the with SIP over VPN
I've run into a odd issue where inbound calls to the SIP client work
fine, but outbound from the SIP client do not.
The path between the client and the server is as below.
N900 SIP client <-- OpenVPN --> Asterisk
The version of Asterisk in question is 1.6.0.18.
Any suggestions?

OpenVPN tunnel and one-way audio - Do I still need a SIP proxy? (bruce bruce)

I'd be rather astonished if OpenVPN itself were responsible for this.
As far as I know, OpenVPN doesn't do higher-level-protocol rewriting
of any sort. It just provides the "bit pipe" through the tunnel.
I'd suggest several other

WiFi SIP phone w/VPN?
Hi, all. My subject line says it all: is there a WiFi SIP phone with VPN
abilities? Failing that, a WiFi phone that runs Linux? I already know
one phone that does meet my requirements -- the iPhone. The new software
comes with a Cisco VPN client, and a SIP client can be had from
third-party vendors for jailbroken phones. And, while I'm not averse to
the idea,
a) it ain't cheap, and

Asterisk 1.6 and OpenVPN RTP problem
Hello All,
I have installed Asterisk 1.6 with openVPN in the same machine. I have set
up a VPN connection between 2 SIP clients and Asterisk using x-lite.
The 2 clients connects to Asterisk. SIP signaling goes ok over the vpn
tunnel.
When attempting to make a call between the clients, the siganling part of
the call goes well. But, when the call is set up, some RTP packets are
exchanged at

Playing flac files from external hard drive
Hi,
Many thanks for this! I was looking for an inexpensive solution, and a Nokia
tablet is too expensive for me. I was hoping for a cheap mp3 player with a
USB connection, but thanks for the advice anyway.

sshd exponential backoff patch
hi,
I wrote a patch to openssh sshd.c which enables "exponential backoff",
so that an attacker cannot brute force your password by making hundreds
of login attempts.
here is the code:
http://sam.nipl.net/sshd-backoff/
An attacker who fails to login is locked out (by IP address) for 1
minute, and the lockout period doubles for each failed login after that.
Normally three logins are

If you're up to writing a bit of shell script, and are running
on Linux, you could automate the conversion process so that it
happens as soon as the recording is completed.

Playing flac files from external hard drive
I use an old laptop running linux. Works great, and it is a very inexpensive
solution.

Time to add exponential backoff for SSH interactive login failures?
I'm accustomed to systems where even the first failed login attempt
incurs a 5 second delay. I don't think that's too harsh, but everyone
has their own needs and considerations. This could be made
configurable.

QoS & VPN
I've got multiple satellite office all linked back to the main office
via VPN. Each office has their own asterisk server which registers back
to the main office's Asterisk server. Each office also has a 1Mb
downstream / 384k - 768k upstream connection. The branches are using
Speex for their connections back to the main office. The issue I'm
having is that there are times that

Asterisk , ISA Firewall/VPN , STUN and other
First, I assume that you will be running NAT at both locations, if that is not the case, then the configuration will change.
When you said VPN, are you using PPTP or IPSEC? Microsoft supports PPTP. In order to connect a PC over VPN to the office, which has a PPTP VPN Server, you will need to runs VPN software. After it is run, the PC obtains a new IP address from your office, If you are using

Playing flac files from external hard drive
Hi Kerry,
Thanks for the detailed information. I have seen some mp3 players that claim
to play flac, so I think that this is not a problem any longer. My disk is
formatted to FAT32 because in the past I tried to access it through some
backwards Windows system and had to make sure it could be read by it.
The only problem remains accessing the data through a USB connection,
because the disk is

[PATCH v2 0/3] Allow ASYNC flip with atomic helpers.
This series is a folow-up on
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9501787/
The first patch makes changes to atomic helpers to allow for
drives with ASYNC flip support to use them.
Patch 2 is to use this in AMDGPU/DC.
Patch 3 is possible cleanup in nouveau/kms who seems to have to duplicate
the helper as we did to support ASYNC flips.
v2:
Resend drm/atomic: Save flip flags in drm_plane_state

IPSEC VPN tunnel with dynamic DNS
Hi all
Hi everyone
Shorewall 3.2.6 and OpenSWAN 2.4.4-18.2 are on SLES10 machine with public
fixed IP address on Internet interface. I am trying to establish IPSEC VPN
tunnel to network behind D-Link DI-804HV VPN router who is on dynamic IP
address. For this I am using dyndns.org alias on DI804 side.
Shorewall is stopping all packets comming from DI804 whey trying to
establish tunnel. Log on
