quartz device (PR#13115)
Dear,
The quartz device doesn't work in R version 2.7.2 (2008-08-25), on my
MacBook Pro. For example, when I just type 'demo(graphics)', the quartz
window stays empty and the clockwise time indicator keeps on running in
the R window.
What should I do to fix this bug?
Thanks in advance,
Vanessa

IO Errors on deleting documents with Ferret
I have a large index (~6GB, ~1 million docs) that was built by RDig.
I wrote a script to iterate through the index to clear out some
duplicate information to try to reduce the size of the index.
clients.each {|client|
docs = RDig.searcher.search("+supplier_id:#{client.id}")
docs.each {|doc|
data = doc[:data].dup #the contents of the web page

ext3 performance mystery
Help solving a performance mystery would be welcome.
I have two test programs:
* one totally CPU bound (it just infinitely loops)
* the other I/O bound (it loops, each time doing
* a write,
* an fsync or fdatasync (I get similar behavior with either),
* an lseek to back up to the same position again
Under ext2, if I run these two together, they each run nearly as fast

Still corrupt indexes in 1A4
Hello All!
Well I still have users which almost daily get corrupt dovecot files in
their IMAP folders (Maildir style) and are unable to read their mail in
this particular folders. When I delete dovecot files in this folder (rm
-rf dove*) user can again read all messages.
This is regular Linux CentOS 4.2 with SAN storage (boot from SAN) as
disks. So this is EXT3 on LVM.
BUT it is VERY

How to Affect Plugin Load Order
I''m using bundled_resource, login_engine, and a few other plugins. It
appears Rails considers plugins in alphabetic order. Turns out that
there is a particular order that will work and alphabetic ain''t it.
The login engine must be loaded first. Bundled resource then includes
''application_helper'' and the application helper includes LoginEngine. If

Making tapply code more efficient
Previously, I posed the question pasted down below to the list and
received some very helpful responses. While the code suggestions
provided in response indeed work, they seem to only work with *very*
small data sets and so I wanted to follow up and see if anyone had ideas
for better efficiency. I was quite embarrased on this as our SAS
programmers cranked out programs that did this in the blink
