Symbol __f95_sign not found.
Our computing services people have recently reconfigured the Sun
compilers structure on our network, and I can no longer install, on
our Sun/Solaris machine, a certain package (spatstat) with which I am
heavily involved. (The same problem may well pertain to other
packages as well; I haven't yet experimented except with spatstat.)

Porting from Linux to Windows
I intend to port an R project from Linux to Windows.
It involves C code that is loaded via dyn.load().
I could manage to produce a 'dll' File using cygwin which seems to be
o.k.
Now, using dyn.load("pcr.dll") i get:
Error in dyn.load(x, as.logical(local), as.logical(now)) :

Getting error ld: fatal: symbol `__SUNW_dof'' is multiply-defined:
I have 2 .cpp files in two different directories in which I need to put DTrace probes. They are compiled into two .a libraries one after another. In the end they are combined to a single .so file. This sequence I can not change. I get an error "ld: fatal: symbol `__SUNW_dof'' is multiply-defined:". What is the solution for this?
Here is my simulation of real world problem in

Trying old multimedia app, get crash
I'm running an old Windows 98-era app created by an outfit called the Media Cafe. It's called "The Ring Disc" and is an interactive version of Wagner's Ring.
I'm running Wine 1.3.23 on Mac OS X 10.6.8. The changes I made were to configure audio as CoreAudio, and to set the overall system to Windows 98 (and I tried ME as well). What I see is that the application starts

I wants to start a win Prog called "Mathe Coach" with wine.
And yes I know that there are ohter and better Progs for linux, but it has to be that one....not my decision :-)
The occuring problem is that wine hangs in a loop and i can't make neither head nor tail of the debug messages (the file is over 10 MB large, and i abborted wine after a few seconds to avoid larger files)

Thanks a lot! Helps you to be aware that you definitely missed something
important if you haven't the box rebooted during more than 45-60 days...

Shorewall and the latest kernel problem
I just installed the latest kernel 2.6.32-573.8.1.el6.x86_64 and when I
rebooted it shorewall (shorewall-4.5.4-1.el6.noarch) failed with the
following error
ERROR: a non-empty masq file requires NAT in your kernel and iptables
/etc/shorewall/masq (line 15)
Question is is this a problem in the kernel or is it a problem in
Shorewall?
Booting the previous kernel allowed shorewall to start

I upgraded to C 7.4 from C 6.9 on my laptop and all was well.? As with
C6 and the other C7 hosts that I have, if launch a terminal from the
desktop it opens in [ user at host Desktop ]$ which is just fine.
I restored parts of my C 6.9 home into C7.4 and now everything shows up
on my desktop and when I open a terminal it now opens up in? [ user at host

Obviously I overwrote the setting,

Upgrade from Samba 1.9.18p4 to 2.2.8a
I need to upgrade from this ancient version of Samba running on Solaris
2.6 to the latest and greatest, but I've run into a snag that I don't know
how to over come, or that it is even possible in the current version, so
I'm hoping that there is a workable solution.
In the current configuration all the samba shares are accessible without a
password, and as a matter of fact there

automounter with users home directories on centos 7.
----- Original Message -----
| Not tried automount with Centos 7 nor with selinux.
