Redundant shared mail store?
Hi guys
I'm about to embark on a project replacing a legacy single mail server
running proprietary software with a cluster of Dovecot servers. We
clearly need a shared mail store for these servers, but we are not happy
with simply using a server running NFS as this becomes a single point of
failure.
What have other people used? AFAICT our options are:
* A shared block device (Fibre

Ast/Hyla/IAX Scalability?
Hello everyone-
I recently read the thread entitled "Faxing Success Rate on PRI" which dealt
with Asterisk/HylaFax/IAXmodem. I'm successfully using this 'recipe' in a
few instances on systems with only a couple of analog lines all the way up
to a full PRI worth of Iaxmodems.
However, I'm finding that I'll need to scale upwards in the coming months
and would like to

t.38 virtual fax software?
Can anyone recommend some kind of virtual t.38 fax software? I'd like
to test/debug some of the t.38 stuff, but it'd be much easier if I had a
software client that could just generate the faxes from a workstation,
rather than having to sit with the fax machine + t.38 ata to source
faxes from.
There doesn't seem to be much out there, and the stuff that's out there
is kind of

Call file structure and syntax
Hi there,
I?ve been looking to do an outbound dialer for systems alerting, etc. and
have in large part followed the recipe here:
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+auto-dial+out
That and the associated pages at voip-info give a basic set of recipes for
callfiles, but nowhere there or in my copy of the O?Reilly book by Meggelen,
Madsen, & Smith can I find a detailed

Autodialer - call simultaneously to both ends
Hello List,
I'm working on an autodialer project.
At the moment I use the Originate application then I "throw" it to an extension where I Dial() the other party and then both legs are bridged. The problem is that the Dial() will only run after the Originate finish its bit and I have lots of wasted time or even worse, the remote party hanging the call because instead of a human

spool directories and filename
Hi,
Is it possible to configure Asterisk to fetch for files from the spool directory in different directories? For example, fetch voicemail files in /abc/voicemail and call files in /cde/outgoing ?. And is it possible to configure the filename that Asterisk gives to files, like voicemail files?
Thanks,
Ricardo

Clearing Outgoing Call Queue
I have an app that generates callfiles in the outgoing queue, which
connect a channel to an AGI (Perl script) at an extension. The AGI calls
the Dial command over a SIP channel. Sometimes I need to stop the
outgoing calls after the requests have been made. I delete the callfiles
from the outgoing directory, but there are still some calls "in the
pipeline". Especially if Dials failed at

Problem with callfile and CDR
Good afternoon list.
I am experiencing a problem with the CDR and callfiles. What is happening
is this: When generating a call with a callfile, everything works
perfectly, but the CDR is recorded in the table when they answer the call
destination. The field disposition is being recorded correctly, but the
duration field is marked with the ring time and billsec is marked with 0.
This just happens

Realtime Call Files
Hi all,
Is there any way of originating calls in future without using call files?
We have 2 servers (1 active at a time). If we use call files with
modification date in future, on the 1st server and it dies and, we activate
the second server but we lose the call files.
I could have a cronjob on both servers and create callfiles reading
execution time from database, but this involves some other

Fan speed control on Supermicro X8DAL board with CentOS
Hello folks,
I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out why the CPU cooling
fans run at full speed on my Supermicro X8DAL-3 motherboard. There
doesn't seem to be any variable speed (the fans are PWM compatible) ...
they either idle at almost nothing, or suddenly burst into a
high-pitched scream that gets my ears bleeding after a few seconds.
Once they jump to warp-10, they

Dialplan help: hang up incoming call and call the number back
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Asterisk so that:
1. I call a specific number that goes to a defined extension from my
phone (an external line).
2. Asterisk notes my phone number (the CLID) and hangs up without
picking up the call.
3. Asterisk initiates a call to my phone and prompts me for a passkey.
4. Asterisk validates the passkey and lets me enter another number (say FOO).
5. Asterisk dials FOO

PRI D-channel signalling error? "Ring reques ted onchannel 0/1 a lready in use on span 1. Hanging up owner."
Now that's quite interesting - yes, this is a two way span. I thought that
the D-channel negotiation that happens before the B-channel is set up would
have implicitly avoid the glare condition through signalling the
intent-to-use to the resource to the remote end (a-la E&M wink start).
So what seems to be happening in my case is my CPE is set for a 'Descending'

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all.
I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find
a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed
all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed.
Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now?
Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry
it's a little bit long:

wxruby-swig progress report
Hey everybody,
I''ve made some progress on wxruby-swig, and have some good news and some bad
news.
The good news is that the MSVC version finally can run all of the samples provided in
CVS. I''m using the same solve-by-ignore solution to the GC problem that wxruby uses,
so there is far less crashing goin'' on. Depending on the next few weeks, we might be

n <- length(B) # get number of years of data
B0 <- par["B0"] # isolate B0 parameter

samba AD not working
Hello,
After classic upgrade from PDC to AD, most things look like they're
functioning but I'm having issues. Note that the upgrade did include a
system change, a new name, new IP address.
Using samba-4.6.5 compiled from git on Debian Stretch.
First issue I noticed was when trying to join the new AD from a
Windows machine I received:
