GoogleEarth
Has anyone installed GoogleEarth successfully? I saw mention of it as a working app, but there are dozens of fixme's when running from a shell window. The program sort of works, I can navigate around (sort of) but the status/coords area on the screen is full of junk characters. Jim Adamthwaite

I recently upgraded wine from 0.9.7 to 0.9.12 and while checking out that things were working I started up Google Earth but had the following error in terminal: Message from syslogd@TheVoid at Sun May 7 02:40:26 2006 ... Various OpenGL apps crashing in CentOS 5?
Hi All, I'm experiencing odd behaviour with various OpenGL apps I'm (trying to) use. I have an IBM Thinkpad X60s with the Intel GMA chipset, the 945GM to be precise. I have glxinfo/glxgears working normally, disabled composite in xorg.conf and everything seems fine. However, there are a few applications that I use that show rather strange behaviour that I think is related to the same

Printing - using WINE
Hello out there, perhaps anybody has some idea for my problem. I've had several nice successes with WINE. GoogleEarth e.g. or some of my old tools of the windows-times. Now yesterday I've sent my tax-declaration (in Germany: ElsterFormular) to the tax-administration, online. BUT: I couldn't print the declaration!! NOTHING at all happened. I havn't ever tried to print, it was not

How can I save plot()/points() using SHP files into KML format?
Hi, I am new to R and am a very basic user. I'm importing SHP files, adding plots of random locations within my polygon (these files have GPS data), and then want to save these plots (intact with added points) as KML files to look at in GoogleEarth (or possibly as SHP files which I can then convert into KML). This is as far as I've gotten (code below) and am lost as to next steps, Any

Google Earth: WINEDEBUG=+relay makes wine-preloader <defunct>
Hello! Using the latest cvs version Google Earth finally installs without using native DLLs. As it does not run I'm trying to find out why. When running it, GE stops with a message box apologizing for not working. So I'd like to run it in winedbg, but I only get WineDbg starting on pid 0xa Process of pid=0x0000000a has terminated and not the friendly box. Perhaps GE uses some kind

wineprefixcreate fails relating GLX
wineprefixcreate failed to complete. I saw error messages about GLX. Here's the unique situation. It was running within a vncserver environment. The NVidia driver is running on the desktop. wine 0.9.15 on Mandriva 2006.0 wineprefixcreate works if it is not running within the vncserver but rather on the regular nvidia X session. By the way I got the GoogleEarth beta to run on the Nvidia

Google Earth - displays nothing, moans about graphics card
I have installed Google Earth under wine 0.9.5, using winetools 0.9jo-III. I believe it is going quite well - it tells me I have an unrecognised graphics card and asks me to log in when the form appears. The program appears and, since installing the mozilla ActiveX , just sits there with nothing showing in the main display area. I am wondering if it is possible for me to get any further. --

Google Earth on EL6.x x86_64
Has anyone gotten 64-bit google earth to run on el6 x86_64? It dies almost immediately, complaining for lack of ld-lsb.so.3. Perusing user forums at google I see a few others with the problem, but no (working) solutions. Thanks in advance! -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ----------------------------- "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any

Centos 5.8: starting firefox-16.0.1 kills X
This just started happening this evening. a little history: way back last year, or thereabouts, I posted about a weird problem I was having. over the course of 2 or 3 days I figured out how to fix it, but not what the cause was. the fix amounts to navigating to my user's .local/share/mime directory and removing the file named "globs". So, back in the present: this evening that

OT: Google Earth - How to uninstall, before installing newest version?
Desktop is CentOS 5.4 (32 bit). I have Google Earth version 4.2.205.5730 (13NOV2007 build date) installed. I have checkinstall (spelling?) installed, but am not sure if that was installed before or after Google Earth was installed. I have the Google Repository installed, but apparently Google Earth cannot be updated via yum and probably it was not installed via yum. Question: What is the best
