Alternative to Adobe Audition 3 for G723 > G711 uLaw ? (old Cool Edit Pro)
Can anyone recommend a codec pack with G723 for use under Vista? I have G723 prompts (about 70 prompts totaling 1MB) needing to be converted to G711 uLaw. I tried Audacity but it doesn't have G723 codecs. I tired some google found adware free tools and websites with no success in converting G723. It does appear the old Cool Edit (now Adobe Audition 3.0 for $349USD) can do it -jason

G723 pass-through and codec negotiation
All, Our users have a softphone client that supports the G723 Codec which we want to use for bandwidth reasons, however we do not wish (or have the funds) to license the codec on our Asterisk servers. We have G723 pass-through working between the clients just fine, however calls fail when terminating with Asterisk itself (i.e. Voicemail) or out to the PSTN due to transcoding issues. If it

Codec Selection
Hi, I have 2 g729 licences - what I want to do is use g729 by default but if I get more than 2 calls at a time, use gsm for the others. So, I put this on all my sip providers: disallow=all allow=g729 allow=gsm However, this just seems to use gsm for everything. If I comment out the gsm line, it then uses g729. I thought it would use the codec's in the order they are allowed - is this

g723 transcoding
It appears that there are no transcoders from g723 to anything else in Asterisk 10.7.1. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Asterisk Codec Translation Table
Hello list, I have always though codec translation table is dircetly connected to system speed, utill i came across this: in my lab, i have 2 boxes, First box is an Intel Celeron 1.7 GHZ with 256M RAM: show translation Translation times between formats (in milliseconds) for one second of data Source Format (Rows) Destination Format (Columns) g723 gsm ulaw alaw

My G729 problem re-visited
Ok, I built a test system to duplicate my problem and provide myself a platform that I can mess around with to try and break any features. My problem is G729 pass-through from a gateway to a phone. I think I even have transcoding working, which makes me more confused on what's wrong with my pass-through. It must be a configuration issue. The basics... *CLI> core show version Asterisk

SIP codec preference order ineffective
Hi, I set a preference order of the codecs to my sip.conf [general] port = 5060 ; Port to bind to bindaddr = 0.0.0.0 ; Address to bind to context = default ; Default for incoming calls of not registered phones disallow = all allow = g729 allow = g723 allow = alaw allow = ulaw Connected a 'Sipura SPA' sip phone to asterisk with g729 as its preferred codec. Problem: asterisk cannot make

No audio format found to offer.
This *should* be something that's easy to fix, but apparently I'm not doing something right. Our SIP long distance provider is telling us to only use formats G.723 and G.729, so I've set up their trunk configuration in sip.conf as such: [t564] type=friend host=XXX.XX.56.4 context=default disallow=all allow=g723 allow=g729 However, the Dial application gives the following error:

GSM codec is a good choice ???
Dear all, I have Asterisk 1.4 with SIP. I have a voicemail implemented with GSM sound files. The problem is I have IP phones Utopix HyperPhone 202 which support only G.729a/u and G.723.1 high/low, but not GSM. If I choose G.729A the "pass-throu" calls among users are OK, but Asterisk can't transcode GSM to G.729A in voicemail calls. My company doesn'y want to pay for a G.729

SIP codec negotiation / manipulation
We're having an odd issue with codec negotiation from one of our SIP providers. Here's the basic situation. We receive an invite from them advertising support for G711, G729, and G723. In our response, we send back that we support G711 and G729. In about half the cases, this results in no problems, with audio being encoded with G711. The other half of the time, they send us a second

How "expensive" are the different codecs? (Regarding CPU time)
Hi! The encoding, decoding and recoding cost cpu time, that's sure. But does this time differs much depending on the used codec? Is - for example - a G729 faster than a GSM codec? Bye! Michael

Asterisk and Digium TC400B
Greetings, Because of the heavy load and the high expectations of an asterisk server offered as a solution integrated with our CRM software.. we were looking into other possibilities than software Licenses for G729 and G723 codecs.. to lower the pressure on the processor giving it more space to do more work. We heard of a hardware (PCI CARDS) can be used with Asterisk that does the work. And we

Codec problems
hi, hi we have G729 codec from Digium, without the G729 codec, we can do the hash transfers to other sip phones fine. but once we are using the G729 codec, the asterisk is not responding to hash transfer, ie, when we press "#" it does not detect it and says "transfer..", is this a problem with G729 codec? (for testing purposes we have bought licenses for 2 chs) this also

Codec negociation
If you don't want to proxy the media through * the put this setting: canreinvite=yes this will allow the 2 end points to connect directly for the RTP bypassing you. otherwise I have noticed the same when I try to proxy I have to make sure everyone is using the same codec or it doesn't work well. .o-------------------------------------------------------o. sip ... codec conversion matrix
Hi, I have asterisk 1.2.18. I just took a peak at the command: > show translation and I saw that I can only convert from/to ulaw, ulaw, gsm and slin. No speex, no ilbc ... do I need a license or compile something extra? The G723, 726 and 729 ... I need a license, is that it? one for all of them? or for each? How do I get them to work? not just pass-through ... I need conversion. Thanks a

g723 to wav conversion
hi everybody, I try to record a call with *1 - one touch record feature in g723 format. exten => _00[1-9].,1,Set(TOUCH_MONITOR_FORMAT=g723) exten => _00[1-9].,n,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@ext-sip-account,,wW) I have chosen g723 format because in my CLI> show translation there is no translation between g723 format and wav (default for *1 feature). After pressing *1 sequence I have two
