Fonts broken in post-0.9.1 CVS
Fonts on Wine CVS post-0.9.1 are very ugly: http://www.oakcourt.dyndns.org/~andrew/wine-cvs.png But if I replace a custom-built Wine CVS installation with the Wine 0.9.1 Debian sid package from Sourceforge, it looks much better: http://www.oakcourt.dyndns.org/~andrew/wine-0.9.1-sf.net.png I have the latest FreeType library from Debian unstable installed: 2.1.10. The same version

Newbie: Problem running FileMaker 8.5
Dear All I'm new to Linux, and even newer to Wine. So, please excuse... I've got a Dell D800 with both Linux and Windows installed. Linux is Debian Etch, Windows is XP. The reason for installing Wine was that I'd like to use FileMaker Pro 8.5 from within Linux. I've installed Wine to the Linux world by: sudo apt-get install wine This worked without problems. In the shell, I

FileMaker lock problem
We have a customer system running Slackware Linux (kernel 2.4.25) and Samba. The customer was running Samba 2.2.8 but we recently upgraded them to Samba 3.0.13. The customer has a FileMaker database on a public share. Before the upgrade, the customer was able to have multiple concurrent access to the database. After the upgrade, only the first user to access the database was successful.

R and filemaker pro DB
I have been looking for a database application to use in conjunction with R (on a Windows network). When I approached my organization's IT department to ask about using MySQL, they made a counter-offer of Filemaker Pro (v8). It is not specifically mentioned in 'R Data Import/Export', nor do searches of the archives turn up much information. Does anyone have any experience using

Parsing Filemaker 6 XML into something I can use
Hi One of our customers has a Filemaker database which needs to be accessed for some data. Using the Web Companion, I can query the database for an XML version of the data. I need to be able to push this data into an array of hashes, so I can access it in a more convenient way. Filemaker is able to provide me with 2 XML formats (DSO-XML and FMP-XML): *********** DSO-XML ***********

filemaker
Hi I am told that filemaker follows an SQL standard. We have filemaker pro 8.0 Can I access the database using activerecords or Rails? All I see mentioned is postgres, mysql, etc I found http://rubyforge.org/projects/rfm/ it requires FileMaker Server Advanced 7.0, But the server advanced is 1400$ for education and I can''t justify the cost right now. My goal is to develop a small

Samba 2.2.5 with Filemaker Pro 5.5 Databases
Hi, I am new to this list but I have tried to search for answers to this one. Ever since we moved the *.fp5 files off a windows 2000 server and onto samba filemaker is now 20% the speed it was before. It was happening with samba 2.2.3a and I have just recently upgraded to 2.2.5 and it didn't fix the problem. I suspect it's a locking issue and the speed of getting locks on the files.

Wine FileMaker 6.0 Calculated Date Fields
I am running FileMaker 6.0 via Wine on Ubuntu 6.10. I have a file/ table/whatever it is called Case.fp5 and another table called Actions.fp5. Case is a one to many relationship to Actions, related via the CaseID. Date Closed is calculated in Case: If Last(Actions::Action Type) = "Close" then Date Closed = Last(Actions::Date Created) (something like that since I can't actually see

Help please. WINE suddenly quits.
Hi everyone, I am running ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy) and have the latest version of wine installed (from winehq). The application I'm having trouble with is Filemaker Pro 8. It installed without any problems. It opens without any problems. Everything looks normal. I can create a new database and open an existing one. Both work. However after a short period of experimenting (just generally

--prefix, url_for and image_tag
First time here, so I hope this isn''t a FAQ (although I did check *the* faq). I''m using mongrel_cluster with --prefix, and it is very slick. Thanks for that. But I had one problem. At one point in my little app, I have something like this: image_tag(url_for(:action => ''picture'', :id => 1), :size => "160x200") In this scenario,

Rails - Postgres - importing data
I am writing a application where there is a lot of data in an old Filemaker program that I am going to need to do a 1 time import...1 main table and 2 related tables. I can get the data from Filemaker into a dbf or csv or Excel file without problem. Is anyone aware of a utility for postgresql or a rails plug-in that might make this easier? I am worried about Rails import since I can''t

A read.table mystery (data for Framemaker Mac)
Dear list, I have to read some clinical data a file coming from Filemaker on Macintosh (Ugh ! But it could be worse and come from Excel...). Exporting via Excel is out of question since the file has 467 columns and 121 lines (+ headers), which is out of reach of Excel. So I received an "mer"" files, which is what Filemaker exports as a text file. It seems to be a semicolon

Scaffolds auto generate tables fields.. and Database amounts
Small story , I am moving over databases from Filemaker. In the filemaker databases are some like near 100 fields for one table. Luckly they are not relational to anything just big fat one page docs of fields.. First I am wondering if this is smart from a database speed point. Or if they should be broken up into many different database tables.. Though they all need to be on screen for the

Common Controls 6.0
Trying to install FileMaker Pro 11 and it requires Windows Installer 4.5.. this has lead me down a very convoluted path.. I feel like I'm in Zork.. however. suffice it to say the error I keep seeing pop up just before everything blows up is the following: fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0) I've

Small mail agent ?
Hi, the proprietary FileMaker software -- which runs under an old WINE release -- requires a `mail sending program' or library. Apparently, Mozilla Thunderbird could fullfill this role. Unfortunately, the versions where Mozilla Thunderbird works are the newer versions where the proprietary FileMaker software doesn't. A simple fix could be a very simple mail sending program or library
