security cameras
I heard about some inexpensive security cameras which get their power
through the same cat5 cable which delivers the data/pictures (which
would simplify wiring tremendously). Does anyone know about these? Do
they work with Linux, particularly CentOS?
tnx 4 tips.

OT: hardware: blackmagic video capture cards
Hi, folks,
I'm still trying to find a video capture card that won't crash Dell
servers, and ran across a Blackmagic BDLKDUO2 DeckLink Duo 2. It claims
to support Linux. I'm also seeing, in the few non-Blabkmagic or sales
pages I can find, that they like "binary blobs". I also haven't been
able to find anything about o/s or library requirements.
Has anyone run

OT: Video Surveillance SW on CentOS
I suggested to our Homeowners Association that we begin a Private
Forum (phpBB) and web site. That suggestion has been well received and
we will proceed with that.
Now, I have become involved in a much more complex and important
project, which is Video Surveillance, for the entrance to our
subdivision.
I Googled and found two (2) things for Linux that seem to be OK:

surveillance DVR
Does anyone know of a DVR that runs Linux that does NOT USE Active-X,
and/or allows logging in directly?
All I keep running into are crap that ->requires<- IE, and don't allow
directly logging in.

Grandstream GXW-4108 8 port FXO
Has anyone used either the 8 port or 4 port FXO device from
Grandstream? (GXW-4108 or 4104).
They seem to be the lowest cost multi port FXO devices that I can
find, so I'm getting ready to buy the 8 port version. I just want to
see if there are any opinions on the device before I commit to the
purchase.
If people have not used the Grandstream, are there any issues with

OT hardware question
With the continuing annoyance from motion, my manager's asked me to go
looking again for a video surveillance appliance: basically, a
motion-detecting DVR and cameras. The big thing, of course, is a) price
(this is a US federal gov't agency, and being civilian, money is *tight*,
don't give me the libertarian/GOP line about how freely we spend,
thankyouverymuch), b) it has to be on the

Stir-Shaken for asterisk
In a few weeks, no SIP call is going to terminate unless they are signed
properly, as mandated by law. We are in the business of Stir-Shaken,
signing calls, as an FCC-approved provider. A big differentiator between
our service and the rest: we are the only ones who don't need to receive
the calls in our servers to sign them. We do this over a MySQL call,
easily connectable to Asterisk via

showing camera on video phone
If I use a call file (/var/spool/asterisk/outgoing)
is it possible to have a video phone connect to a camera (linksys wvc200)
and show the camera stream and hear the audio?
How would I do that?

Morans I for Spatial Surveillance
Hello,
I am interested in using Morans I for different time intervals to detect disease clusters.
Ultimately I would like to use CUSUM - or similar monitoring statistic to monitor the results of Morans I - similar to the work by
Rogerson (2005) Spatial Surveillance and Cummulative Sum Methods in Spatial and Syndromic Surveillance for Public Health.
Thus far - thanks to the list I have

Polycom 501 Phones Rebooting
Hello,
At one of our locations, we have started to see Polycom 501s
(running 1.6.7 firmware) randomly reboot. We have taken packet traces of the
phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the
network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. There are
no errors on the ports. This appears to be affecting POE powered as well as
AC powered phones. The Polycom

Polycom 330 + Asterisk, phone locks up. * key will do it
Hello all,
We have an Asterisk server that has worked without issue for a while.
Before, only Sipura and Polycom 500 series phones were used.
Recently, we've added a few POE switches and 20 or so Polycom 330's.
The 330's seem to lock up often. One easy way to do this is by hitting
the * key. I looked thru the XML files for dialplan and what not, nothing
stood out.

Polycom 330/320
How do you guys like the 330 and 320? I've been looking at this as my
"standard" phone, since it's relatively cheaper than the 501 which is the
phone I currently push with my PBX systems. Most of my customers do not use
more than one line per phone, so having 3 lines on the 501 is not
necessarily useful.
Also, I read that the phone offers TLS security. What does that mean?

cameras and CentOS
Hi
I want to put up a few cameras connected to a CentOS box.
I currently have a box with one camera and that works (USB),
I can take a pic (the script does that) and see that on a webpage.
However, I want to have a couple of cameras a little further
away (more than 5 meters).
USB has a limit, I have tried that camera with a longer cable
and it does not work ... so I need to route that in a

video phones on 1.4.7
I have 3 phones
P1 is a non video phone - grandstream
P2 is a Grandstream GXV3000
P3 is a Grandstream GXV3000
Using P1 to place a call to P2 I get audio only (as expected).
Then on P1 I transfer the call to P3 and I still only get audio.
At this point shouldn't the two video phones P2 and P3 say
to each other we are video and so startup the video stream???
This is not working at this time?
