Hardware requirements
I don't seem to be able to find the necessary hardware specs for an Asterisk server. What I have in mind is a dedicated server to serve 50 or so people. All users will use SIP phones and there will be an ISDN gateway for outgoing/incoming calls. Do you have any suggestions about the server specs (CPU, RAM, HD, etc)? Also, has anyone used Epigi Quadro ISDN gateway with Asterisk? If so, what is

Best Hardware for Asterisk Server?
Hey guys, In your experience what is the best way to go for a production asterisk box in your offices? With desktop prices so cheap you might think that you should just buy them off the shelf, but is that really a reliable machine? Anything you can tell me that would assist me in deciding the best way to obtain and maintain these boxes would be very helpful. I have even looked into building

How to select a motherboard
Not being familiar with chip sets and other factors that "hardware experts" understand, I am perplexed with the multitude of available motherboards. Is there a Web site that can be of help or a "strategy"? My goal is to replace my motherboard with one that is Centos compatible and uses a Pentium 4 in the 2 MHz range. As example, when I go to Mwave, I am presented with

tftpd-hpa: remap '/tftpboot/ncd4/foo' into 'ncd4/foo'
Hello, This about remapping in the HPA tftp server. A client does request for '/tftpboot/ncd4/foo' which should be 'ncd4/foo' I have created a remap file that looks now like this: r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/login.hmx ncd4/modshmx/login.hmx r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/setup.hmx ncd4/modshmx/setup.hmx r tftpboot/ncd4/modshmx/term.hmx ncd4/modshmx/term.hmx Because r

Ghost file.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I mentioned a ghost file. Also I can create another file with the same name in the directory. I cannot remove the file, or

[PATCH] vhost-net: add module alias
By adding the a module alias, programs (or users) won't have to explicitly call modprobe. Vhost-net will always be available if built into the kernel. It does require assigning a permanent minor number for depmod to work. Choose one next to TUN since this driver is related to it. Also, use C99 style initialization. [RFC] treewide: cleanup unreachable breaks
From: Tom Rix <trix at redhat.com> This is a upcoming change to clean up a new warning treewide. I am wondering if the change could be one mega patch (see below) or normal patch per file about 100 patches or somewhere half way by collecting early acks. clang has a number of useful, new warnings see

Multiple streams/window sizing options ala BBFTP?
This must get asked all the time, but I didn't see any results from a search in the archive, so... Are there any plans to integrate features such as using configurable, multiple streams, or configurable window sizes? Something like BBFTP or GridFTP features would be nice - is anyone working on this? Rsync is much more feature-rich than either, but they do have a few nice features in

Re-sizing R graphics for Sweave
I am generating a single graphic containing about 31 Boxplots; the issue I am having is that not all the labels (3 characters each) are shown. Interactively, within a R session, I can simply re-size the graphics window and all the labels appear. But, what can I do non-interactively to have all the labels displayed when using Sweave? Can the labels be rotated 90-degrees; would this help? I

quick overhead sizing for DDT and L2ARC
Two related questions: - given an existing pool with dedup''d data, how can I find the current size of the DDT? I presume some zdb work to find and dump the relevant object, but what specifically? - what''s the expansion ratio for the memory overhead of L2ARC entries? If I know my DDT can fit on a ssd of size X, that''s good - but how much RAM do I need

Sizing login_process_size and login_processes_count?
Any suggestions on sizing login_process_size and login_processes_count for a server expected to be doing 100 to 200 simultaneous connections? Is there a way to separate login_processes_count between imap and pop? I would like to have at least 50 imap processes ready, but we rarely have any more than 5 to 10 pop connections. Would be a shame to have 40+ pop login processes doing nothing most

drivers/vhost: sizing of ubuf_info and heads
Hi Michael, I'm a bit confused about why ubuf_info and heads are UIO_MAXIOV length arrays, rather than being the size of the ring? In particular, this is suspicious: linux/drivers/vhost/net.c:342: struct ubuf_info *ubuf = &vq->ubuf_info[head]; And it seems to assume we trust head: a malicious guest could put the same head entry in the ring twice, and we will get two
