Remote Connection to Asterisk
Hello all -
This is basically an updated re-posting of one I've posted a few days ago.
Thanks to the kind help provided but I still can't make it work. But I'm
moving a little further down the line (thanks to you folks).
Basically, I've got an Asterisk server in a LAB ENVIRONMENT on my home LAN.
The server has a Wildcard TDM400 installed but has no POTs lines/phones
connected.

Help! - Double NAT issue
Hi folks.
Please don't flame me but I've been googling around for days, read a
tremendous amount, tried everything, and still no go.
This is most definitely a typical newbie question. - I sure hope there's
somebody(s) out there who'll humble themselves to help me out.
I've set up an 'out of the box' basic Asterisk server running on Slackware
Linux. - It basically

TFTP - Good or Bad?
Hi Guys/Gals -
I don't post here often but I read with interest all the postings. - I've
been on a lot of mailing lists, but this one is by far the most interesting.
I've been doing a lot of work with 'tftp' loading Cisco 79xx phones with
firmware, configs. for asterisk, etc.
And I see where a lot of folks have trouble with 'tftp', use alternate port
numbers

This mailing list is being spam filtered on my site.
Sorry if this not the right place to post this.... BUT...
Since May 31st, ALL of these user list messages have been filtered by
"spamassassin" running on my Linux box. - Claim to be listed in "Bayes" as
spam. - Have no clue why this is happening.
Luckily, "spamassassin" sent the messages to the "probably-spam" folder on
the Linux box & I was able to

MOH question w/Cisco 79xx phones
Hi Everyone....
Got a newbie type question regarding MOH & Cisco phones.
I'm still new to Asterisk (very new in fact) & built up a AsteriskNOW box
just to get something going.
My simple test system has just 3 Cisco phones a 7905, 7940 & 7960. -
Everything's running SIP.
The 3 phones can call each other fine. - Can even leave (and retreive)
voicemail messages. - No problems.

[Bridge] Error while trying to setup bridge, appears to be a loop
Hello,
I've been trying to implement a bridge in place for a clustered firewall
at one of our office locations. Currently we NAT two class C's
internally. We decided, for performance reasons, that it would make
sense to put our servers into an official DMZ. So we started this
bridging project. Our goal is to have two redundant firewalls in place.
There is no need for active/active.

79xx's and call queues
Hey,
I'm testing out some call queues. I have 7940's and 7960's with the
SIP 7.4image.
I have a queue that looks something like:
[testqueue]
strategy = rrmemory
timeout = 15
retry = 5
weight = 0
announce-frequency = 0
joinemtpy = yes
reportholdtime = yes
I dynamically add a phone or two to the queue (AddQueueMember, not agents).
When a caller calls in, connections are made and

Query re Tom''s firewall (see http://www.shorewall.net/myfiles.htm)
On the firewall, what is the rationale for giving eth1 an IP address
that is also assigned eto eth0? (Rather than a private one.)

OpenVPN and DNAT
Hello Tom and all,
Quick question: Is it possible to operate an OpenVPN server from behind
a firewall?
Is it as simple as setting it up and placing:
DNAT net loc:192.168.10.20 udp 5000 - ipaddress

[OT] VPN/DMZ best practices
There is such a wealth of knowledge and personal experience on this list
that I'd like to get your opinions on our current situation.
Currently, we have a simple tri-homed firewall with the internal network
on one interface, the dmz on another, and the dirty internet on the
last. Also, there is a spare interface on the box which is unused. We
use CentOS and manually maintain our rule sets

Asterisk and VMWare
Hi,
There is any experience using Asterisk with VMWare?
I think about installing a virtual linux box over VMWare and then Asterisk
over it.
Thanks,

SMTP / DMZ
Hi Guys,
I have been trying to configure shorewall
1) Internet Access to internal users
2) Have a DMZ that will house atleast 6 mail / web / ftp servers that
will server our existing group companies outside our physical location.
3) Setup openvpn between our location and our group companies .
What i have done so far is :
- Created the 3 zones with the IP ranges as below.

MAC Validation and related problem that is killing me...
Hi there...
I want to use MAC validation for strict computer access rules to our
server and LAN. I do not want any computer have ANY kind of access
(neither LAN or Internet access, not even get an IP from the dhcp server,
or being able to connect to anything manually configuring the IP settings)
unless its MAC is on the list. Our server has two interfaces (eth0 & eth1)
and 2 zones (net and

remote access info please
Hi ya'll,
I built a new CentOS 5.1 server for a client, housing a Lotus Notes / Domino
server, and various other virtualized IBM software server guests, and soon
will have to physically move that server to another distant location.
My question is that I will need secure access to those servers via X, not
just the C/L terminal. What do you recommend for a good secure CentOS
program which

new to puppet - can puppet push its content to remote servers?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I was made aware of puppet a few weeks ago and I really like the way
things are working.
What I liked at cfengine was the capability to push content from the
central server to any node. There was no need to open a port from DMZ or
any other remote system to the central server.
Is there a similar way within puppet?
How is this solved by other
