Help creating a shortcut in wine
Can anyone help me with how to create a windows shortcut in wine? I want to create windows shortcuts on a Linux box that windows clients can then access. I'm trying to use wine to allow me to create the shortcut on the Linux box. I'm using the wine-0.9.31 version of wine on Fedora Core 5. I've tried two approaches, both fail. I've tried using an autohotkey script. This script runs

Some shortcut bugs...
Hi! I use Ubuntu 8.10 and when a program wants to add a shortcut on the desktop, it create a .lnk file, is this a bug or not? Is it maybe because there's no "Desktop" folder in my home directory, but a localized directory (Bureau in french), but it is correctly set in winecfg! Thanks.

How to create a Wine shortcut on the Desktop (KDE)
Hi Friends, I want to create a shortcut on the desktop (Fedora 16 with KDE 4) to call a windows executable (a ".exe", let say "discus.exe") . This programme does not need any install (so it does not appear on the K menu under the Wine section), it just has to be called via Wine. How to proceed to create this shortcut ?

Difference between samba 2.0.0beta4 and NT4.0 ?
Hi Samba-gurus, I have a problem with samba 2.0.0beta4 on solaris 2.5.1 (samba 1.9.18p10 behaves the same) : 1. I have a ordinary text-file on a samba-share (foo.txt). NT4.0 sees the samba-share (\\sun100\tmp) as a netdrive with the letter K:. I've done a 'net use k: \\sun100\tmp'. 2. I can doubleclick in NT4.0-explorer on foo.txt and notepad comes up correctly. 3. hello, on Windows XP I created some directories and files - and some links (.lnk-files) to files and directories and saved them on a ntfs-disk. Now I want to use it in Debian (testing, Gnome) but the links won't work. When working in Nautilus 2.26..3 there just a little window appears telling me, that there is no application installed to view this file. If I want to "open with"

Hi, I am using Wine 1.3.20 to run the Office 2007 suite and it works almost perfectly. But each time I open an Office file (docx, xlsx, ...) a .lnk is created even if I do not press "Save". Another .lnk is create on exit. And a few others when I save the document as far as I can tell. They are all created in the current directory. This problem looks a lot like bug 15480 - Saving files

"No such file" error when reading Win98 profiles
Hi all, I'm having an odd error with Samba 2.2.5 and I'm wondering if anyone can give me a hand with it. About a month ago, I upgraded from Samba 2.2.1 to 2.2.5 on RedHat 7.2 and, since then, my Win98 users have been receiving "No such file or directory" errors during login. The upgrade was installed using John Terpstra's RH 7.2 RPM package. Users are set up with roaming

In WinXP I would like to launch R by dragging and releasing a text file on top of the R shortcut on my desktop. Then, I would like the working directory to be automatically set to the location of that text file. That's what works in MacOS, but I can't figure

Fix for win32-shortcut
Hi all, I''ve narrowed down one more problem for cygwin/mingw. For win32-shortcut, it appears that you need to add "-luuid" to $LIBS. Once Takaaki tried that, it worked. How does this look for the extconf.rb for win32-shortcut? # extconf.rb require "mkmf" require "ftools" if RUBY_PLATFORM =~ /cygwin|mingw/i CONFIG["CC"] = "g++"
