Re: FRS over *
On the various technical issues raised here (OK, we posted the rules, we won't discuss the legality anymore) I think there is only one main obstacle to using FRS radios for extensions on *. They are simplex (push-to-talk, release-to-listen). The protocol for dealing with voice-activated-switching (VOX) has been used in ham and public safety simplex autopatches but it's really tricky

icecast2 transcode?
I've got a dilema. For months, I've been planning and implementing a large project involving vorbis, ices2, icecast2 and wifi networking. The plan is to stream live audio from 10 Austin nightclubs during the SXSW music festival this March. Well yesterday, it was made plain to me that I must also provide mp3 streams, since "it's an mp3 world." I'm upset about this

VoIP over 3G/4G Data
What are the recommended settings to successfully implement VoIP over 3G/4G data connection. Assume we are talking about using Polycom phones, and the 3G/4G data connection comes from a Cradlepoint router that is plugged in with AC power and has high gain antennas. The device will be stationary, so we will not have to worry about tower handoff?s breaking the connection. This will be for fixed

Cellsocket Report Card (GSM/PCS to FXS gateway)
I recently purchased a Cellsocket, which is a cradle that holds some older Nokia GSM/PCS phones and converts them to an FXS interface. My test phone is a Nokia 5190 on the T-Mobile GSM network. After going through the ordeal of unlocking the phone (T-Mobile provided unlock codes that didn't work), I finally got it up and running. The good: - Disconnect supervision works - Outstanding sound

PHP framework for book sharing?
Several coworkers and I have scattered amongst us all sorts of resources related to the mesh stuff we do (RADIUS, networking, RF, antennas, microwave, R&S, Linux, etc), and most of these resources are in the form of PDF or Word docs. Is there a PHP framework that I can easily "yum install" on a CentOS box that would allow us to login and easily share these resources with each

RE: Samba locking problems
Hi Bernd, For now, we have backed down to 2.2.4. This seems to have solved our problems. This is frustrating, though, since we wanted to upgrade to at least 2.2.5+patches to possibly improve our situation with downloadable printer drivers. In my last post to the Samba mailing list, I mentioned that downgrading to 2.2.4 fixed my problems and asked for suggestions, but yours has been the only

My first choice for most

icecast2 transcode?
I remember working with a company called clubcastlive.com who were essentially doing the same thing - always wondered what happened to them - I guess as an internet company they went out of business. [LLVMdev] llvm.org outage
Dear LLVMers, There is some scheduled network outages detailed below that affect the llvm.org servers and LLVM Mailing lists. The LLVM server is housed on the fourth floor. I am not sure which rooms house the mailing list servers. All times are Central Standard Time. If someone from Illinois can distill the relevant parts of this message for LLVM users, I would be most appreciative. I am out
