Almost desperate on rsync from macbook to NAS
Hello list.
I'm almost getting exhausted, thus I have to bother you people to get some help.
I simply want to sync my "iTunes Music" folder from my MacBook over to my NAS.
The scenario is like this:
source path: "/Users/bonny/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/" (in here there
are all the subfolders I want to sync over to the NAS);
destination: "rsync://root at

Another mail_crypt question: figure out to password secure using mysql
Hello Community,
(sorry to be more busy, hence more running questions in parallel :) )
As mentioned in another post, I am testing mail_crypt plugin.
I was wondering how to really secure the process sothat even the admin
cannot have any access to the other users mail content.
My current config is simple:
- using per-folder keys (hence the per-user spaces are preserved)
- put the

net getlocalsid: is this a bug?
I noticed the following:
Suppose that we have a server called "SMALLSERVER" working as a PDC for
"SMALLDOMAIN**".
When I enter "net getlocalsid" I get the following output:
SID for domain SMALLSERVER is: S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx
But when I enter "net getdomainsid" I get:
SID for local machine SMALLSERVER is:

My Switch is being attacked using sip scanner tool (Service Abuse Attack)
An attacker is scanning my Asterisk Switch to gain illegitimate access to
VoIP call functionality.
Using a sip scanning tool, *it* sends REGISTERs with random identities. And
when it discovers one identity subscribed in my switch, it tries to
authenticate with random passwords using this user name.
For the moment, I have replaced this account. And also blocked the IP it has
used but each time

Voicemail prompts clipped when retrieving from some SIP phones
Hi there:
I know this has come up before. I'm having trouble finding the fix for it.
When I call into Asterisk to check voice mail, the prompt gets cut off.
Example -- on the Polycom IP 501, I press "messages"; All I hear is the
last part of the initial prompt, like so:
"assword"
So I enter my assword and listen to my messages.
The prompts for incoming calls are

Polycom Dialplan Digitmaps
I'm replacing a SoundPoint IP 600 with a SoundPoint IP 650.
I attempted to simply reuse the existing config files for the old phone
on the new phone, but the new phone would lock up on the 4th digit when
attempted to dial out certain numbers. So, I downloaded the newest
firmware and config templates from Polycom, and attempted to migrate the
settings. Seems I'm missing something from

idmap & migration to rfc2307
I *think* I may have encountered a bug, or a feature, in the idmap/winbind area.
I have recently added rfc2307 attributes to my AD, and am in the
process of switching over. This means that I still have
(unintentionally) some files/directories/etc. around with old UIDs
e.g. 3000007, rather than my rfc2307 specified UIDs.
What I am seeing is that the SID2XID mapping is initially correct for

Voicemail prompts garbled
I'm having problems with the voicemail prompts. The beginning of each
prompt is garbled. Prompts "edian mail" and "assword" can be
recognized, but when it starts on the short phrases it is completely
garbled. It is almost like the subsequent phrase starts before the
current phrase finishes.
I have isolated the LAN to the * box and the phones, so LAN congestion

List,
I purchased an SPA-1001 from voipsupply.com (which was great.. no hassle), but now anytime there is silence and then Playback() sound files the first half second gets cut off. For example, when I login to the VoiceMailMain() function I don't hear "Password", I hear "-assword". Then after I login I hear "- have no messages..." instead of "YOU have no

IDMAP_RID with Winbind works for groups but not users
Hi,
I've setup samba 3.4.7 to use idmap_rid as per the documentation:
idmap backend = rid:DOMAIN=500-100000000
idmap gid = 500-100000000
imap uid = 500-100000000
It seems to work for groups:
wbinfo --group-info="domain admins"

how to access my Windows Vista user folder from GNU Linux
Hi,
I have no problems whatsoever accessing and using my GNU Linux user
directory from Windows Vista, but the reverse is not true. My

~$ testparm -s /etc/samba/smb.conf
