similar to: mini-PCI FXS card?

Hi folks A common wisdom here is that one should use a proper hardware phone rather that an extra software on the user's PC. Why is that such a big issue? One thing that bothers me with the current crop of hardware SIP phones is that they are hopelessly properitary. So what would it take to build a fully-adaptable phone? Here are some of my thoughts. I was wondering if someone might be able to offer a suggestion to me about how I might go about dropping a caller into a context specific to their CID. For example, I would like to be able to dial Asterisk from a specific number (a mobile phone) and have it drop me into a context other then the one that normal callers receive that has more options tailored to things I might want to do.
