OSHA requirement to "reach a live human" ??
Hi,
We're using Asterisk to develop a specialized IVR system for our
employees and someone is telling us there is some OSHA requirement that
you have to always be able to reach a "live human" on such systems. I've
never heard of that and google didn't turn up anything in my searches.
This is *not* some kind of "report a spill" or crucial system of any
sort.

Teliax problems, they say use SIP, more mature & better working than IAX
We have a Teliax IAX trunk that we use as an overflow for our four
regular business lines into our local Asterisk PBX (Trixbox). We have
our Teliax account set up so that it goes to a Teliax voicemail box if
it cannot reach our Asterisk server, and we have the channel set up for
5 simultaneous connections. Occasionally, calls are sent to the Teliax
voicemail box for no apparent reason. In

trouble loading R function code
I created an R function offline with a text editor and saved it as fhv.R
When I type in
load(file="fhv.R")
I get the message
Error: bad restore file magic number (file may be corrupted)-- no data
loaded
I've checked the file, and it opens up fine in Notepad and other text
editors. I also tried this from another folder and got the same message.
What's going on?
Thanks in advance.

Accessing examplars in apcluster (apcluster package)
Hi,
I was wondering how it was possible to access the actual cluster exemplars
from the APResult class. Currently it only spits it out onto the terminal
if you type the object but there is no other way to see which one is the
examplar.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Sachin

change the height or scale of the y axis
Hallo, All,
I have a question about changing the height or scale of the y axis. When I
use following two R codes, I can get two plots. Please look at the y axes,
the number of indices (x1, x2, ?) on the y axis in the first plot is smaller
than that in the second plot, and hence the space between any two indices in
the first plot is wider than that in the second plot. As the number of
indices

Query about creating time sequences
Hi All,
I have a query about time based sequences. I know such questions have been
asked a lot on forums, but I couldnt find the exact thing that I was
looking for.
I want to create a time-based sequence which will mimic the trading window
AND would span multiple days. Something like below:
"2011-01-03 09:15:00 IST"
"2011-01-03 09:15:01 IST"

Method for checking automatically which distribtions fits a data
Hi,
Suppose I have a vector of data.
Is there a method in R to help us automatically
suggest which distributions fits to that data
(e.g. normal, gamma, multinomial etc) ?

Stuttered Dialtone for multiple extensions
Hey all..I'm looking to start with a single FXS card but with 3
extensions for VM purposes only. I'd like to know if there is a way that
you can have different stuttering dialtones depending on which extension
has a VM. For example If x103 and x104 have VM can there be a distinctly
different stutter for each mail box and have them play back at once or
back to back so that when you

Open Source SCGP
Hey,
Someone told me an open source SGCP gateway was created for the Asterisk
project. I'm looking for a little more information.
I have two VG248s that I'd like to attach to my VoIP network; however,
Cisco's documentation seems to indicate that Cisco CallManager is
required for these things to operate. Cisco CallManager being a 10,000
dollar application, I would like to find

syntax of nlme with nesting
This may appear too elementary to some on this list, but not to me. My
apologies if this is the case. I have mastered the lme function but the
nlme function has me stumped.
I am attempting to fit a nonlinear mixed model with 4 levels of nesting.
I am getting a cryptic error message and do not know what is wrong with
the syntax of the call. This is the call:

help with syntax of nlme function
I am having difficulty understanding the syntax of the nlme() function for
nonlinear mixed models. The data frame is called Marouane.chlorophyll. The
model involves a dependent variable (Absorb) and an independent variable
(Ch.surf), which are both numeric variables in the data frame. The data are
hierarchically grouped as Espece, Plante nested within Espece, and Feuille
nested within Plante

I read the Ed Gibbs blog posting on BDD, and there was a reference to

Thanks!

comments on my first context
I have been curious about rSpec for a while, so I thought I''d give it a try...
I started reading Ron Jeffries'' articles on Sudoku
(http://www.xprogramming.com/xpmag/OkSudoku.htm), and noticed he was
doing TDD, I thought, this would be fun to do with BDD...
Can you comment on the following? (note that I added a method in the

Can't save a graph to pdf in R for MacOS
Hi,
I am using R 1.7.1 (carbon) for MacOS and I am running it on MacOS X
10.2.6. When I send a graph to the pdf device (or any other devices), I
get a zero KB file name "Rplots.pdf".
Before sending my graph to the output, I did:
> dev.off()
> pdf()
> boxplot(... my graph commands...)
> dev.off()
Is this the correct procedure? I did the same procedure on another PC
