Testers needed for VoIP router solution
Hi all,
We have put together a firmware for a range of inexpensive routers.
It has been configured to provide optimum VoIP performance.
We have internally tested it for number of months and it looks very good.
You should be able to run it easily with 20+ phones on local network ( we
still did not hit the upper limit ) assuming that you have bandwidth.
Your VoIP will get prioritized over other

Is anyone using * for 2 way video conferencing?
Hi,
One of my clients, wants to use * box to run weekly meetings between remote
locations over the internet.
What would be the best configuration for this? We are talking about two
conference rooms.
I am referring to the actual hardware/software and bandwidth requirements
for this to work well.
I have run two software video phones and I had marginal results with it when

How to verify availability of the DID connection?
Hi all,
Occasionally, DIDs from different providers stop working for some reason.
I would like to be able to monitor situations like that and react before any of my clients start going ballistic on me.
Any ideas? Scripts you know of or wrote and willing to share?
Any info?would be greatly appreciated.

Non-finite finite difference error
Hello, I'm trying to use fitdistr() from the MASS package to fit a gamma
distribution to a set of data. The data set is too large (1167 values) to
reproduce in an email, but the summary statistics are:
Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max.
116.7 266.7 666.7 1348.0 1642.0 16720.0
The call I'm trying to make is:
fitdistr(x,"gamma")
and the error is:

Standard error of mean for aov
Hi all,
I'm quite new to R and have a very basic question regarding how one gets
the standard error of the mean for factor levels under aov. I was able to
get the factor level means using:
summary(print(model.tables(rawfixtimedata.aov,"means"),digits=3)),
where rawfixtimedata.aov is my aov model. It doesn't appear that there is
an equivalent function to get the standard

Will Adtran TSU 600 work with *?
People on the list tend to think you can't make many cards work on a
regular desktop.
If you're willing to wait a couple of week I might have an answer for
you.

as promised description of my XEN HA setup
Hi all,
In threads posted by I believe Jonathan Tripley I promised to post my new XEN
HA setup. Hope it can be of some use to some people.
In this particular case I''m forced to use SLES 10SP3 with XEN 3.2, which
excludes the possibility of using things like cLVM (which I don''t think I need
anyway).

Developing Marketing materials ...
Hi,
I am working on developing a professional Marketing Materials for my
systems.
I plan on using a very good(expensive) company to do that so splitting the
costs with several people would be nice.
Let me know if you are interested on taking part in it.

yum problem
Hi, all.
I'm experiencing a problem with Yum. When I call 'sudo yum update' it
tells me that it can't find any mirrors & after doing a 'sudo yum clean
all' it just informs me it can't find any base repo & quits.
This is on a brand new installation of CentOS 6.2 x86_64. I suffered the
same problem with Fedora 19 too.
I have several Ubuntu & Mac OS X

VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings,
I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we
came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone.
I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering
between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom.
I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to
have my voice network separate from my

DRBD NFS load issues
My NFS setup is a heartbeat setup on two servers running Active/Passive
DRBD. The NFS servers themselves are 1x 2 core Opterons with 8G ram and
5TB space with 16 drives and a 3ware controller. They're connected to a
HP procurve switch with bonded ethernet. The sync-rates between the two
DRBD nodes seem to safely reach 200Mbps or better. The processors on the
active NFS servers run with a load

thanks for the feedback.

in the backbone we have HP ProCurve switches and all of them (except for
the oldest series from more than 10 years ago) separate their forwarding
database per vlan. HP calls

Problems with crashing IBM X3630 M3/ZFS
Hello. I've got a quartet of IBM x3630 M3 with one that is frequently
hard locking under heavy NFS load. I am running 9.0-RELEASE with all
the patches from freebsd-update.
My problem machine has 8 16 core clients, each doing IO intensive tasks
connected to it via a Procurve and the onboard igb0 interface. Mostly
network reads, typically 10MB read per MB written.

NT4 IP stack failure under heavy load when using smbfs
Hello,
i try to use samba as backup solution for our NT4 servers. At 03:05 every
night we automatically shut down the servers, boot DOS and create with
Symantec Ghost offline a disaster recovery image of the NT4 SCSI disks
(NTFS) on a separate DOS IDE disk (fat32). The down (aka DOS) time is about
15-20 minutes. Then the machine boots with NT4 again. The image (one or two
files with max 2G each)

What is acceptable network latency for voipconnection?
That "program" will be detected by your ISP within a day or so,
determined to be a virus, and your service will get disconnected...which
n turn will not help your latency or jitter at all.
VoIP can tolerate a fair amount of latency; latency over about 100ms is
heard as a perceptible delay resulting in a connection that appears to
be half duplex.
Jitter, on the other had, is the real
