Playonline needs 32-bit true color
I installed playonline under WINE on Ubuntu. It installed without any problem, and when I went to load it up it even starts to open up like it would in windows. But then an error appeared: _______ Error Code = 20008027 Can only be displayed properly in 32-bit true color. Start Playonline viewer anyway? _______ If I click no, it closes. If I click yes it actually starts up, plays music, and I

Program Files Folder in Wine
Hello. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I cannot get Wine to run anything under the Program Files folder. It gives me the error message that it cannot find C:\Program (it's as if the space between Program and Files stops it). I have tried eliminating the space in both the folder name and in the command line. Nothing works. GRRRRRR I am trying to install Final Fantasy XI using

dll files
I'm a recent convert to the Linux lifestyle, and I would like to get to a point where I rarely, if ever, have to boot into Windows on my machine. While I'm not a huge gamer, I do enjoy Final Fantasy XI. I would like to get it to run under Linux/Wine. According to the information from the AppDB, the only way to get FFXI working under Wine is to have a copy of the dxdiagn.dll from Windows

I'm trying to scrape football projections from accuscore.com for the different positions (right now the projections are set to zeros, but that will change). I can get the QB projections, but I can't get the projections for any of the other positions (e.g., RB). How can I get the RB projections? I'm not sure what the actual website for the RB and other projections is. When I go to

AMD64 vs i86...
This may be a silly question...but... Currently I'm running the amd64 release of Ubuntu 8.10, and I am using Wine with minimal issue. I really only use Wine for one program, Final Fantasy XI. Following the directions step by step in the AppDB I got it running...acceptably. There are still some framerate issues when I am in a crowded area in the game, and I was wondering... Has anyone

Joypad axis not being detected in wine.
I've searched for this all over the place and couldn't find anyone having the same problem. I have a Logitech Wingman wireless controller. As far as I can tell from doing various calibrations on it, the kernel and all other programs detect all axis. However when trying to map the controller in wine, it detects all axes, including the slider bar at the top right, but the Y axsis on the

Problems with Final Fantasy XI Online - Japanese
Hello all, I've been trying (and thus far failing) to get the Japanese version of FFXI working under wine. I have been playing FFXI here in Japan since the release, so I have the original Japanese 4-disc CD set, plus the extra CDs/DVDs for each different expansion. I originally started with wine-1.3.8, and for the most part, the CD installs and POL/FFXI updates worked fine -- I was actually

array indexing
Hi. I have been pondering array indexing via matrices. > a <- array(1:27,rep(3,3)) > index <- matrix(c(1,1,1,1,2,3),2,3,byrow=TRUE) > a[index] [1] 1 22 as expected and documented. But what was the thinking behind the decision to access the array by rows rather than columns? The 'index' matrix is ordered as [1,1,1,2,1,3] and so the extraction is a[index[c(1,3,5)]]

virt-viewer via ssh to a remote host
Hi, I have a virtualization host running KVM and libvirt 0.9.12 (on Debian unstable). I would like to connect with virt-viewer 0.5.4 from a different host to a domain that has Display Spice configured as graphics interface. I can connect to the KVM host using virsh --connect=qemu+ssh://mh at fan.local/system and start m KVM domain from there, so I guess that authentication is just fine.
