failure of status 127
With 32bit etch debian, following an yesterday: #aptitude update (and upgrade) Daniel: As you migth remember, I got the error "failure of status 127" as on last June 10 (on that occasion following apt-get update and upgrade) At that time the remedy was: #apt-get remove libwine followed by #apt-get install libwine Now I prefer aptitude or dselect, so that yesterday #aptiture update

Observations regarding recent versions of Wine
I use Wine to run Pegasus Mail (PM) v4.31 on my SuSE 9.3 distribution of Linux. It looks like some fine progress has been made in the development of Wine during the past couple of months but I have not been able to take advantage of it. The last version of Wine that I have been able to make work reasonably well in support of PM is 0.9.8. Wine 0.9.9 and Wine 0.9.10 both sent a signal to PM to

Re: Can Garmin's (MapSource) USB map-card reader be used in Wine?
Hello, I tried to install Mapsource 6 in Wine (20050211.2) on MDK LE2005 but it didn't install... The same with GIDroute which installed but didn't want to be launched. I will give it a try on MDV 2006 but I don't expect a miracle. And the pseudo map applications for Linux are not really what we can consider as useful and easy to handle with... Possible Samba Memory Leak
Hi All, We're currently trying to use samba in an embedded application, so we're working with samba 3.0.2a compiled for PPC. We have a test application which will basically write, then read back and compare data files on the disk. The problems we see occur when we try using just over 3500 small files (< 10k each). It seems that after about 200 or so iterations of this test, we start

limit to flood
May I ask whether it would be possible to create a wine list for fundamental problems of wine, leaving out all problems related to war, game, and so on, software? If I were interested in I would have taken Windows, while such e-mails are really flooding. There are people interested to run a few scientific applications that are not yet available on linux or other unix OS (while expecting that

Cpus_allowed_list issue in RHEL6.4
Hi All, I am using RHEL 6.4 on a Dell Server with 32 cores. But in the Cpus_allowed_list only 30 cores are available. Why is that? See the snippet from cat /proc/self/status: Cpus_allowed: 7fff7fff Cpus_allowed_list: 0-14,16-30 The allowed list is same for the init process as well (see below). I didn't see this issue, in RHEL 6.2. Why is that? Is there a way to change it? -miraj

Pegasus Mail and recent versions of Wine
Has anyone succeeded in running Pegasus Mail with a version of Wine newer than 0.9.8? With Wine 0.9.9 I experienced a termination of Pegasus Mail every time I closed a message composition window. This was not "fixed" in Wine 0.9.10. With Wine 0.9.11 and Wine 0.9.12 Pegasus Mail appears to be unable to display anything other than its startup window with the flying horse and the

I upgraded my wine version from 0.9.5 to the newest 0.9.12 and I can't get wine to run. when I start wine my system hangs, an wine binary "wine-preloader" eats up all my reasources and just hangs! I used the official 9.1 binary rpm from sourcefordge.net and a build from the wine source but the resoult is the same wine-preloader just hangs. The strangest thing is that when I start

Installation of IE6 and Office2000 with wine 0.9.12
Hi, I used some time ago the winetools package to configure wine older than 0.9.10 with IE6 and Office 2000. Updates of wine up to 0.9.10 where also succesful, so that I was able to continue the usage of MS Office2000. But since the Desktop changes in wine 0.9.11, 0.9.12 the old installation does no more work. ## My experiements to install IE6 and Office 2000 without winetools are not yet

virsh vol-download uses a lot of memory
Hi all: I am using the libvirt version that comes with Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS. I have written a script that backs up my virtual machines every night. I want to limit the amount of memory that this backup operation consumes, mainly to prevent page cache thrashing. I have described the Linux page cache thrashing issue in detail here:

Bad EXE format for
I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid. I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...) Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says: warn:module:load_dll Failed to load module

Hi, Seems that such migration is currently broken, at least for 0.9.11|0.9.12, with 0.9.8 all works fine: virsh migrate --live testvm qemu+tcp://towerbig/system ---snip--- 2012-05-17 21:22:30.250+0000: 16926: debug : qemuDriverCloseCallbackGet:605 : vm=testvm, uuid=feb7ccb6-1087-8661-9284-62e3a1e9f44a, conn=(nil) 2012-05-17 21:22:30.250+0000: 16926: debug : qemuDriverCloseCallbackGet:611 :

LAN games no longer working in Starcraft
My nephew was home last night and I couldn't play Starcraft with him because selecting UDP or IPX LAN games no longer works. When they're selected, a message box appears saying: Unable to initialize network provider I had the same issue in 0.9.11, 0.9.12, 0.9.13. I was able to play multiplayer LAN games previously, but I'm unable to say what version I was using at that time. I first

I downloaded wine 0.9.12 yesterday, and saw the news about iexplore.exe being included. So, I just had to try it. It downloaded the Mozilla ActiveX control and installed it, but then after the installer completed, I get the following errors: fixme:shdocvw:iecs_QueryInterface unknown interface {00020400-0000-0000-c000-000000000046} fixme:shdocvw:iecs_QueryInterface unknown interface
