Wine Client Error:b: write: Bad file descriptor
I'm running wine 0.9.2 on a specialized Fedora Core 2 linux computer.
I've actually had this running in similar setups on several computers
now, along with a custom program. I had everything working, and it was
all very nice, until I moved to a new linux setup, so I know it's
something in the wine configuration, not in my program. It's still FC2
and wine 0.9.2, but it's the

Weird Runtime Error
I'm attempting to use WINE to run a Windows MFC application on Fedora
Core. I have a couple of different versions of the application, though
to be honest, I'm not really sure of any differences in them (I'm an
intern, I was handed this to do and I'm learning about the programs as
I go).
When running one of the executables, it just pops up a window that
says:

AppDB
How does one go about getting a newer version of an application added to the
AppDB in order to provide reports as to what does and does not work with that
version of the application when run via Wine? In particular I'd like to add my
observations regarding v4.31 of Pegasus Mail but it is not one of the listed
versions.

?? Issues with playing WoW on Ubuntu 8.40 ??
Well I have installed Ubuntu 8.40, Wine 9.59, and World of Warcraft, and it took me some time to get it working, but I finally did. Now, however, I'm having several problems with the way it runs.
Namely:
-the mouse is very slow and skippy at moving when in WoW
-lots of objects in the game fail to render (the ground usually doesn't render either)
-my FPS in the middle of nowhere, with

binary R for Fedora Core 2 e tcl
I update my linux version of FC1 for FC2.
FC2 uses tcl-8.4.5 and R-1.9.0 (rpm version for FC1, not install/not
run).
We have the rpm binary version at FC2?

IMAP EXPUNGE disconnect/box hang - Fedora Core 2, Squirrelmail and Evolution
I'm a bit befuddled by this behavior. I've been using dovecot for close to a year, and recently the Fedora Core 2 Update: dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2 build came in via yum. Since then I occasionally get this EXPUNGE disconnect error. When the error hits, the box does not crash but I can no longer log in*, nor start any new processes. I happen to have gkrellm running and I see a slow but steady

Install config: lighttpd dead but pid file exists
I''m trying to run rails on RHED (centos 4) by following this tutorial:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/RailsOnRHEL
and something is gone a bit astray during the install process that is
not allowing lighttpd \ apache to run rails on the web.
Since i''m running Centos, I should mention I''m NOT running SELinux.
As it is, i''m at a total loss as to why

Common performance issues
Hi,
When writing a Rails app, what common tasks can likely result in
performance issues?
The one I''m aware of is something like:
Model.find(:all).each do |elem|
# do stuff
end
Especially when there''s lots of elements in the Model. What other
ones are there?
Also, does Rails do caching of queries? If I''m in a view and I do:
<% if user.admin? %> ...

3Ware Escalade 9500S controller question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Greetings folks,
I'm currently redoing my home server as one of the hard drives in my
RAID-1 array went down and I'm going to replace the lot of it with a
3Ware Escalade 9500S RAID capable card and four Seagate 200GB SATA
drives. These drives are supposedly the coolest and quietest SATA
drives available (better than the Maxtors I had anyway)

CentOS "upgrade" from fedora core ?
'Trying to figure out if it might be possible to set things up such that i
could "upgrade" (rather than an "install") from a Fedora Core installation
to CentOS.
'Had guessed that perhaps changing/faking the contents of
/etc/redhat-release might do the job, but ... that didn't seem to go.
Anyone know how it might be accomplished?
Or perhaps this isn't a

fedora core 2 + bitmap() + ghostscript (PR#7062)
Hi all,
A bug popped up recently when I upgraded to fedora core 2 (from core
1). Whenever I used the bitmap() function, ghostscript complained that
it couldn't handle png or tiff devices. This was NOT a bug with R. It
was with the version of ghostscript shipped with core 2. Going to
rawhide and getting ghostscript 7.07-29 (core 2 comes with 7.07-25)
solved this problem.
Unfortunately, I

Fedora Core 2 and Kernel 2.6
Hi All,
I decided to have a go at installing Asterisk on FC2 which now runs on
Kernel 2.6..
Unfortunately I didn't get very far..
When trying to build zaptel it required me to link /usr/scr/linux-2.6 to
the default source dir which is /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358.. I guess
thats still the RH infulence.. :)
After than I tried again but the page rolls with errors and finally ends

Oh, sorry, I should have clarified.
What I meant by "wait a year" was the time from the first .0 or
