Patch idea for rspec_on_rails
I recently wrote a matcher for testing AR associations which allows
you to specify things like:
Foo.should have_many(:bars).through(:bazes)
I''m pretty darned proud of it and a couple of people have suggested
that I should submit it to the rspec_on_rails project. Before I go to
the trouble of writing out rdoc and fully spec''ing it, I just wanted

autotest and rspec_on_rails not happy
Hi,
I''ve been using the rspec and rspec_on_rails plugins quite happily on
my Rails project for a while now. Today I noticed the autotest
support in RSpec-1.0.3 and decided to give that a spin.
Oh tragedy!

Food for thought on these. I like have_one a lot. It speaks to me as a

should have_tag outside Rails
Hi
Google has not helped me here. I''m looking for a way to use the have_tag
assert_select wrapper outside RSpec on Rails (but in a Rails project) so I
can use it to check text strings.
Has anyone managed this?
Thanks
Ashley

[rspec-devel] rspec_on_rails (trunk - r3070) works with Rails 2.0.1
I figured most of it out. The Spec::Rails stuff was something in the
code which has been fixed by revision 3099. The test methods partially
make sense. Since the test/unit code has been integrated, methods with
test in them are automatically turned into specs. However, the test?
method is in a lib file that isn''t directly loaded into the specs. It
is a convenience method: def

RSpec on Rails 2.0
I have a project on edge rails that I''m trying to convert from Test:Unit
to rspec. I have the rspec gem version 2338, the rspec and
rsepc_on_rails version 2831 in vendor/plugins, and rails version 8117 in
vendor/rails.
I''ve been able to get a few specs passing, have gotten the specs running
from autotest, and am able to do "rake spec:doc" and get the basic

installing rspec/rspec_on_rails as system wide generator (or similar)
Hi all,
What would be the best/easiest way of installing rspec as a system
wide generator so I''m not having to download it or ./script/plugin
install it every time?
Thanks,
Alastair

how to connect to a remote PostgreSQL database from R on mac osx
Hello List,
I would like to connect to a postgreSQL database on a remote server and I am wondering what is the best package to do that. I have just installed RpgSQL, RPostgreSQL, Rdbi and RODBC.
The handiest to me is RPostgreSQL but I don't see how to connect to a remote server with it. For sure I can connect to remote server with RODBC, but since I am on a Mac OSX 10.6, I have quite

rspec_on_rails - necessary to force "test" env?
Hi all
rspec_on_rails/lib/spec/rails.rb starts:

That force into "test" environment is causing me trouble and I''ve
commented it out.
Why? I''m testing a plugin, and have a sort of mini rails app that I
use for the specs. The

rspec_on_rails, could someone provide an example of using mocks/stubs?
hi all
I''m still a little uncertain on how to use mocks/stubs with rspec when
dealing with associations. I know the point is to isolate the code being
tested and remove external dependencies, but I''m not sure how to implement
it. Can someone suggest how they would spec the code below:
I have a Book model and Review model
class Book < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :reviews
