Hello, I have a Debian machine that is virtual-hosting 6 domains with exim4. I finally got exim4 working well enough where I can send and receive mail using the mail command on my machine. I would eventually like to have SquirrelMail (which requires IMAP) working on my website. For whatever reason, exim4 doesn't seem to support IMAP. I found out that Dovecot is a prominent IMAP server.

Hi, I have an exim4 and dovecot system. The system has multiple accounts. Exim4 is receiving emails in the /var/mail/user files and dovecot is configured to use /home/user/mail (mbox) folder. I have one account that dovecot is not processing replies/bounces/etc... The data is being written in the /var/mail/user file by exim4 but as far as dovecot is aware there is nothing in the pop3 inbox.

Am I wrong to expect that id user and getent group should list me the groups the user is part of. For example wbinfo --group-info=office shows me that user jdoe and lgaga are part of the group, but then when doing id jdoe or id lgaga the office group is not shown, neither in getent group. The mailbox format is mbox on local FFS filesystem (no NFS), and I use filesystem quotas (but both users are far from filling their quotas).
