Not possible in the current implementation. In principle it
would be possible to extend earth so the user-defined "allowed"

New package "earth"
The "earth" package is now available on CRAN.
Earth builds models using Friedman's MARS.
Earth's principal advantages over the existing function mda::mars are that

OT: Google Earth, v.4.3.7284.3916 (beta) on CentOS 5.2 (32 bit)
The version of Google Earth I installed last December was working
great this morning. Then, I decided to update to the latest version
and when I tried to do that with yum, I didn't have the right name for
the package (now, I think it may be "google-earth"), so I downloaded
the file (GoogleEarthLinux.bin) and installed with "sh

Google Earth & wine_cvs-20060318
Hi everybody,
i am experiencing textures problems in google earth.
I should say i never managed to use it since my first try, with wine-0.9.6.
the app installs nicely, and actually runs pretty well.... except the earth in
the render window is always desperately black. Everything does work, i can
"fly" and make the earth turn (i see the stars moving) but the earth surface is
just black.

Using earth.dist function
Hi Everyone,
I am a graduate student who will be using R to do my analysis. I need to do
a spatial analysis, and the first step is to calculate the geographic
distance between my study sites. I am hoping to use earth.dist because it
allows for multiple pairwise distances to be calculated at one time. I have
done a sample calculation, and I seem to have a problem between the steps of

Google earth doesn't work?
Hello,all
I know from winehq.org that Google Earth works well under wine. But I can not
even install it successfully.
My wine version is 20050830, and google earth should be the latest version
from Google as I just download it from their website.
Till now, I can run winrar, Bitspirit well under wine20050830, but not include
google earth at all :(
Can anyone give me some clues to follow?

selection of hinge function with restrictions, machine learning, earth package,
Hi,
I have a few questions regarding machine learning packages in R, e.g.
earth package
and its forward pass and prunning pass, and hinge functions selection in the
example below.
1) How could I force the algorithm to generate knots in hinge function only
with values < 90 for e.g. variable doy?
2) Is it possible to restrict the algorithm to generate maximum number of
terms per a selected

OT: Google Earth - How to uninstall, before installing newest version?
Desktop is CentOS 5.4 (32 bit). I have Google Earth version
4.2.205.5730 (13NOV2007 build date) installed. I have checkinstall
(spelling?) installed, but am not sure if that was installed before or
after Google Earth was installed. I have the Google Repository
installed, but apparently Google Earth cannot be updated via yum and
probably it was not installed via yum.
