What is the universal (world wide) understanding behind degaussing harddisks?
Good evening from Singapore! The foremost question which I want to ask is, what is the universal (world wide) understanding behind degaussing hard drives? I work for No Secrets Agency (NSA) Pte Ltd (fictitious company name used). interesting comment. New Physics?
While browsing about, found http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/TDM400P, where I found this comment: "Here's a tip passed on from an old telephone engineer. Where your copper 2-wire cable approaches the building, underground, finish with several large loops, about a metre in diameter, laid on top of each other. Fast moving, high energy spikes will spin off the outside of the loop as they

Strange Error -- ASterisk 1.6
All, I just noticed this in my logs, and am rather lost as to what module it pertains to. I would assume pseudo-realtime priority for the process, but I am looking for a little confirmation from the group: [Apr 28 12:28:36] WARNING[20773] asterisk.c: The canary is no more. feature request -- talk to the router, not the UPS
That kind of scheme should be handled by scripting - not by NUT. As far as having a _perfectly good UPS with no driver_, ANY UPS can be converted into a "dumb" UPS with the addition of 2 relays. The first relay is a primary 110 (or 220v) AC coil and a set of NO contacts. When main power fails the contacts close. The second relay is a primary 12v DC coil and a variable resistor and a

Ok guys I am having some issues with Samba via ADS. I went to browse a share I setup on my Linux box and it prompted me for a username and password. APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
?I've been using nut on an APC Back-UPS 750 for several years with no problem, seeing the walled "UPS on battery power" messages during short 1-2 minute outages. This is connected with the original USB cable that came with the unit. After replacing the battery recently, nut always triggers a shutdown when AC power is cut off, even if only for 1 minute. I see that the data fields

Digium FXS specifications and limits Question
Howdy All, I'm considering Asterisk / Digium as a replacement to my existing phone switch. I need to continue to be able to push analog lines between multiple buildings in a campus environment. The Digium Analog 410 Card manual states it's not recommended to go beyond 1500 feet distance for an FXS card, and no line should leave the building or be bundled. The 2400 Series Manual does

UPS has no built-in monitor. [GishPuppy]
OS: Debian Wheezy Nut: 2.6.4-2.3 Installation method: Synaptic Device: CDP B-UPR505 Traces, debugs, etc.: Not available or irrelevant Description: Where I currently live (Honduras), buying a UPS with monitoring capability means spending at least twice as much as a "plain-Jane" model - usually even more than that. Thus, since I can't afford the ones with monitoring, all I have are

APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
Arnaud, I was finally able to get back to this issue and would recommend adding these items to the FAQ #37 about recalibrating the UPS: 1a. It's important that the UPS be at 100% charge before starting the procedure; starting at lower will not work at all, not just produce inaccurate numbers. ? ? ? [I started the procedure when the UPS was at 91% charge. After that it would never report
