Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
I was once told by a lineman that the cables they use didn't have that many twists in them because it wasn't needed, and that the extra twists would effectively use more cable and thus cost and weigh more than triple what they do now. He told me that with the number of twists in the Cat 5 cable it would cancel out any interference, but he also stated that the effective length was

T1 cable for Digium T1/E1 Cards
Is there any technical difference between a T1 cable and a cat5e patch cable as far as using them with Digium T1/E1 cards? Can PRI circuits terminating at a smart jack connect successfully to Digium cards using straight through CAT5e cables? If so, are they using all of the pins in the cable? Thanks in advance

T1, FoneBRIDGE, and dropped D-Channel
I hope someone can help me out with this issue. It has been dogging me for months and I can't seem to get it to go away. I have a Rhino Ceros box running Asterisk 1.4.21.2 connected via eth0 (nVidia MCP61 Ethernet) to a RedFone FoneBRIDGE2 dual-port with EC. The FB is the latest hardware rev and the latest firmware. I'm running the latest fonulator version and I'm running Zap-1.4.11

Trouble with asterisk-users mailman
I'm trying this again because the last attempt didn't go through (thus more or less proving one of the below to be true.) T1 Channel splitting PRI/data not working
I'll keep asking weird questions here: I have two T1 WAN circuits originating at my asterisk box and terminating at Asterisk servers at remote sites. Currently I use zaptel ppp assigned to all 24 channels for data. Now I would like to split off a few of these channels for voice trunks (I should use VOIP, but at the moment I do not have fast enough servers for the codecs) At one site

win2k dropping network connection to samba
Hello, I have a client that has a RedHat 8 box with samba 2.2.7 running as a basic file server. They have two win98 computers and 1 w2k pc. They have no problems accessing the files on the server from the win98 pc's but the win2k pc keeps dropping the connection... I would normally say... ok its some hardware problem with the win2k box... BUT if i copy files to and from shares on the win98

Logging just the movement of files
Hi: I would want to log the files that "moves" through my network. I have played with "log level" directive, but it's not what i need. I set log level to 3... and certainly, it's ENORMOUSLY HUGE the log written. It's the information i need, but it's impossible to catch somethin there And level 2 is TOO POOR... not information 2.5 ? :) I JUST need the files

PRI Down but zaptel lets calls through
Hi, i am having a problem with my point to point t1, which is being resolved and is a seperate issue. sangoma support has been a huge help and i am waiting on verizon to increase the signal output of the smartjack. But my issue is that in the meantime my fallover extensions arent working. Well they are on the CPE side but not on the NET side. The NET side still thinks its making calls, they

Best echo-free and trouble-free system?
We currently have a 15-phone system using Asterisk, a combination of analog phones/Grandstream HandyTone-286 and Grandstream BT101s, and 4 X100Ps connected to analog lines. The system works well except for the occasional echo problem. I have all the echo parameters configured, removed all the extra incoming analog lines except to the PBX, etc. following all the advice on the wiki and on the

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs. A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows: 1 - 4 2 - 5 3 - NU 4 - 1 5 - 2 6 - NU 7 - NU 8 - NU NU = Not Used I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you should be fine. As far as the shielding

Unix password sync
Hi all, Sorry if this has been answered before, but I've searched Google and the archives and it hasn't revealed an answer to my problem. Basically I'm trying to get unix password sync to work so that users can change both their logon and other services (POP3 etc) passwords from within Windows. but the problem is that if I enable unix password sync, it fails with the error of:

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
At Sangoma we do quite a lot of back-to back T1 and E1 connections. T1 is not a very fussy connection, as the baud rate is only about 750 kbps. In our experience, for error free communications you can use the following rules of thumb: Up to 50 ft: Flat patch cable Up to 500 ft: Ordinary twisted telephone cable Cat 5 may be overkill unless you are going hundreds of feet. HDLC errors
I'm running Asterisk 1.2.26.1 svn rev 79171 on Trixbox 2.2. libpri 1.2.7 and zaptel 1.2.22.1. The hardware is a HP dl360 single cpu with a TE220B. The system load is below 0.10. I moved the server into production, with one PRI, on Friday. On that day we handled a couple thousand calls and I only saw one HDLC abort message. On Saturday half the calls and two abort messages an hour

Purchasing a Sangoma A102 - should I get the hw echo cancellation or not?
Shortly, I'll be purchasing a Sangoma A102. I'm wondering if I should spring for the hardware echo cancellation circuit or not. Upon initial implementation, the 2 T1 Ports will be used as a passthrough as we slowly transition off of a legacy PBX. Eventually, we'll only be using one of the ports, and will be providing VoIP service to a bunch of SIP deskphones. So - with that usage

Sangoma A200 wt HW echo on 64bit Centos , 4 fxo and crosstalk!
Hi, Has anyone ever experienced crosstalk with sangoma analogue cards on 64bit? We have exhausted every test to try and replicate this and find a solution with Sangoma tech support, but we can not fix it. We are about to try the card and four *seperate* UK BT lines in a 32bit system. The current system is a 4gb, dual core cpu with pbx in a flash 1.4, Zaptel and Asterisk 1.4.21-2 Currently we
