Affordable SIP Trunk for Home PBX ?
So I have my asterisk box up and working internally at home and all is
good so far. The next thing I wanted to do was make and recieve calls
to regular land lines now.
I don't have a POTS line and was looking for probably a SIP trunk.
I have seen mentions of Skype integration with Asterisk, but does that
include say Skype IN and Skype OUT ? Or is that integration component
really just for

Siemens Gigaset S685IP Review
Hi there,
in case anyone is interested, I've just taken ownership of a small home
network (3 handsets) of the brand new Siemens DECT PSTN/VOIP phone.
It works great with Asterisk. Here's my overview and review so far...

SIP Softphones and Citrix ?
Anyone aware of any SIP softphones that might virtualize well with Citrix
presentation server? I suspect I know the answer already as I have been
researching softphones that work with Cisco CallManager that can be
virtualized if you will with Citrix and have come to learn that its not
something that seems to be doable at this time. I have to assume that the
issues affecting the virtualization of

How to properly mock a complex object "comment.initiator.group.name"?
I am wondering what is the best way to mock such expression:
"comment.initiator.group.name"
What I do now is:
===========================
comment = mock_model(Comment)
initiator = mock_model(User)
group = mock_model(Group, :name => "Admin")
initiator.stub!(:group).and_return(group)
comment.stub!(:initiator).and_return(initiator)

New Tutorial: Asterisk on EPIA VIA C3
Hello list,
after spending the best part of an afternoon trying to build Asterisk on
an old EPIA VIA C3, I thought that writing a tutorial would make life
easier for future compilers:
http://astrecipes.net/index.php?n=356
I had never compiled Asterisk for a different architecture, and I'm pretty
disappointed at how complex it is - building Zaptel, Libpri and Asterisk

Analog Adapters ?
I have a friend with a small business running a small SIP based phone
system. He was looking into providing some SIP phones for a couple of
remote teleworkers, but as he started to look around and ask me questions he
ran across analog adapters which made him curious.
He proceeded to ask me if there was an analog adapter that provided the
following functionality in which my reply was simply,

Remote Call Center Agents and Asterisk?
Anyone using Asterisk in a Call Center environment? And more importantly is
anyone supporting home based remote call center agents with an Asterisk
backend?
My experience with Asterisk is limited, however I have set it up and
installed it previously and had it working for home usage and for simply
playing around. My background however is with Cisco CallManager, Cisco
IPCCX for call centers as

Is GoVarion a fraud ???
Hi,
Some days ago I spent about US$700,00 in a Tormenta III board in
www.govarion.com. I used credit card.
I didn't receive any answer for my emails and there is no telephone number
to contact them..
Now, I'd like to cancel this order, because I couldn?t wait so long, and my
credit card was billed.
Is www.govarion.com a fraud ???? Does anybody know something about them ??
Thanks.

AMR vs Speex on wireless networks.
In order to develop a Voip application, today i should make it
robust to bit-errors over wireless networks. This is an actually
lack of Speex, infact what i've understood is that if a packet
arrives corrupted, i must pass NULL to the decoder in order
to let it know.
My target is to use UDP (with checksum field disabled) and exploit
also corrupted packets giving them to the AMR codec.
Otherwise

To DB or not to DB?
I lurk and comment a little on here and have been playing with * for a
short while.
I am interested in hearing about the pros and cons for using a database
backend to Asterisk. My current setup is simple, out of the box with
config files in /etc/asterisk and logs etc going into /var.
I notice a great many of the contributors here seem to use a db backend
(is this also called Real Time

Looking for better "Follow Me"
Hi everybody :)
I am a new member here and hope that someone gives me a hint for my problem:
Let's say I am at work and my SIP phone (KPhone in my case) is connected to my
private Asterisk. I want to call my wife at home so her SIP phone rings. She
does not pick up the phone (maybe she is somewhere in the house and has to
run to the phone) so after 15 seconds her cell phone should ring.

Discrepancy between intervals.lme and coef.lme
I'm using R on Windows v2.0.1 with the nlme package (v3.1-53) and am finding some unexpected discrepancies in the output of intervals.lme and coef.lme. I've included a toy dataset at the end, but briefly, the data are longitudinal data from couples in marital therapy. Each spouse's relationship satisfaction is measured 4 times; I've fit both linear and quadratic models to the

Listing function
Hallo,
I build a list by the following way:
Lst = list(name="Fred", wife="Mary", no.children=3, cild.ages=c(4,7,9))
I know how I can extract the information one by one. But now I want to
add a new entry which looks like
name="Barney", wife="Liz", no.children=2, cild.ages=c(3,5)
How can I add this information to Lst without overwriting the first
entry?

Setting up a blank table with column names in the hard drive
Dear Friends.
Greetings!
This should be a very common operation and I believe there should be a nice
way in R to handle it. I couldn't find it in the manual or by searching on
line. I am wondering if I could ask for some help in this community.
I am trying to record the results of my program to a csv file in the hard
drive so as to save memory space and also to read the results in excel

Stupid Question #1 - Testing the "s" exten from a SIP Phone
Can I do this?
I have a x100p card on my PSTN line and I have an incoming context for
these calls which uses the "s" extension. I'm wanting to set up a simple
IVR and would like to be able to test the dialplan as I go. But having
to dial-in on my PSTN line each time is going to cost me money. Can I
connect to my zap_incoming context from my locally connected SIP phone?
