engines causing problems with mocks
As I delve further into using engines and rspec together I am noticing more strange issues. describe "Requesting /admin/collections using get" do controller_name :admin_collections before(:each) do Collection.stub!(:paginate) end it "should return a collection of collection objects" do get ''index'' response.should be_success

CC.rb and RSpec
When trying to configure a rspec 1.1.2 based app in CC.rb, I came across the following: /home/bryan/cruisecontrolrb-1.2.1/projects/support-engines/work/vendor/ plugins/rspec_on_rails/lib/spec/rails/../../../../rspec/lib/spec/ runner/options.rb:218:in `files_to_load'': File or directory not found: cc:build (RuntimeError) from

RSpec, plugins and stubbing controller methods
Hello, I have some code that is going to be used in other applications, so I decided to bundle the code (mostly controllers and views) into a plugin to make sharing easier. I copied the RSpec tests for the controllers into the plugin as well. The plugin RSpec tests run, however when it gets to stubbing controller methods it does not work. For example:

Autotest with RSpec Rails and Engines
Hi We have a Rails project using an engine which I want to run autotest with rspec against. So the project specific specs are in the specs directory but the common specs are in the specs directory of the engine plugin (e.g. vendor/plugin/engine/specs) Just wondering where I would be looking to change configuration so that autotest will also look for the specs in the engine directory?

ANN: RSpec 0.6.2
I just released RSpec 0.6.2 Hopefully this fixes the couple of glitches that went into 0.6.1 - the RSpec rake task was heavily refactored in 0.6.1 and didn''t work properly when packaged as a gem. This should be fixed now. Holler if things are still broken. Cheers, Aslak

Problems with rspec 1.1 required inside rake tasks
This is interesting. The default rspec rake tasks generated by Hoe give you an rspec.rake file that looks like: > begin > require ''spec'' > rescue LoadError > require ''rubygems'' > require ''spec'' > end > So far so good. When you invoke rake to do something, say check_manifest > rake check_manifest > You

using rake db:fixtures:load with rspec fixtures
Hi, I''m new to rspec. I have some fixtures in /spec/fixtures. If they were in /test/fixtures they could be loaded with rake db:fixtures:load. Is there any way other than a symlink to load my rspec fixtures into the database with rake? Or, can I cause rspec to load the fixtures from /test/fixtures? Thanks, Paul

Combining autotest, rspec, rspec_on_rails and spec-server
Hello, I''ve been trying to google the definitive way to combine autotest, rspec, and spec-server, but to no avail. It seems like there are lots of suggestions from old versions. Furthermore, some commands such as rake:autotest don''t seem to be around anymore. So, is it required to install ZenTest as a gem? I have version 3.9.1. I believe this gets me the autotest

strange results when using rcov with rspec
I have some specs tucked away inside my vendor/plugins directory that I want to run when I run rake spec. I''ve got the rake task working just fine, but for some reason rcov seems to choke when I try to tweak the included/excluded files to ignore any files in app/ but to include files in vendor/plugins/ plugin/app/** The error I get is this: No file to analyze was found. Trying to get rspec-rails working.
Hi, I have a rails 2.3.3 app I am migrating to 2.3.11. In the process I am adding bundler support. When I add rspec and rspec rails (1.3.4) to my gemfile, then try to install rspec-rails per the instructions (here https://github.com/dchelimsky/rspec/wiki/rails) using the config.gem method link, I can''t get the script/generate rspec command to work (I am told rspec generator not

hpricot as dependency for building rspec?
It looks to me that hpricot is a dependency to building rspec: euclid% rake pre_commit (in /Users/smtlaissezfaire/ruby/projects/rspec/hpricot) rake aborted! Could not find RubyGem hpricot (>= 0.0.0) /Users/smtlaissezfaire/ruby/projects/rspec/hpricot/rakefile:9 (See full trace by running task with --trace) Let me know if I''m wrong. Otherwise, I''ll submit a patch in the docs.

subdomain based namespacing makes RSpec incorrectly state that the route doesn't exist
Hello, I''m doing namespace routing based on subdomain, rather than path, so that http://admin.example.com/pages leads to app/controllers/admin/ pages_controller.rb. Cucumber is following this fine, but RSpec is complaining that the requested route doesn''t exist even though "rake routes" shows the route. When I add a standard namespace below the "scope :admin"

RSpec beta 22 with Rails 3
I am working on a Rails 3 application. Recently bundler got an update for rspec, which upgraded it to 22, (previously we were using beta 20). After the update we are unable to run the old using ''rake spec:rcov'', while running with ''rake spec'' is running fine. When you do rake spec it does not give any output and finishes the task. something like below : $ rake

Can I get RSpec NOT to abort rake on failing specs?
At work we''ve got a rather complex app with both specs and tests. Our default rake task runs all our our tests and specs. We''ve also got separate rake tasks to run groups of tests and specs in the various subdirectories. The default task simply lists all the individual tasks as pre-reqs. We do a lot of branching and merging, so we really want to run all of the tests and specs

no output from rspec -- fixed
Resend from 10/29/2010 due to bounce back. This is in reference to an email sent to the group on On Oct 18, 2010, at 1:24 AM. Short version: The solution was indeed to downgrade to test-unit 1.2.3 gem ''test-unit'', ''1.2.3'' Longer version: I went through my github repository and found a version of my gemfile that worked with rspec. I then carefully compared
