WebRTC as Softphone substitute ?
@Olivior I agree that seting up WebRTC is hard, however when done it is smooth to use. For replication you can build RPMs with working configurations. Regarding stability, it is not being used widly, so can't say it is mature. However we have no complain so far regarding audio or connectivity. sometime we provide support for "allow media / mic" type issues, but you know it is

WebRTC as Softphone substitute ?
Hi Olivior, We have recently worked on a WebRTC based agent panel. As based on my experience I think that WebRTC based phones are far better and cheaper then those soft / sip phone. the big plus is that they are easy to customize and developer can use the power of browser and web to build / offer features which are not possible with regular phones. Regarding your concern about BLF or call

I'm not able to register Softphone(X-lite) in asterisk(Which is installed in EC2 Cloud).
Check if asterisk is running or not first . If asterisk is running check iptables ( firewall ) might be blocking the connection . You can see listening ports with netstat -upln command On Mon, Apr 20, 2015 at 10:01 AM, akhilesh chand <omakhileshchand at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Folks, > > I'm trying to register softphone(X-lite) but I'm not able to register >

Can Asterisk "proxy" a SIP phone to make it look like a Cisco skinny softphone?
Hi there We have a Cisco VOIP environment here, with hard and softphones. I have a softphone account/etc, but I'm a Linux user and (as far as I'm aware) there is no Cisco softphone for Linux. However I can run Asterisk. So I was wondering if there is a way to "convert" a SIP phone transaction into a SKINNY transaction so that the Cisco environment thinks it is a Cisco

Softphone that emulates Skype API ?
There's a large number of gadgets one can buy that work with Skype through the API. One of the things I'm interested right now is the ability to properly use a mobile phone headset with a SIP/IAX softphone. Is there an softphone that emulates the Skype API? Are there legal implications in writing an softphone that emulates the Skype API? Should I just give up and buy a Siemens DECT

Anybody using X-Lite Softphone ? tryedtoforwarda call to X-Lite....
Mateo, Dialing the extension to your softphone is the same as any hardware extension. Exten => 1000,1,Dial,(SIP/1000,20,trf) pretty exten => 1000,2,Macro(vmessage,1000) exten => 1000,3,Hangup Change [mateo01] to [1000] in your sip and you will be saying that ext. 1000 is registered with the specifics you are using. Update the settings in your softphone to register the name and

Asterisk SIP cannot restrict call from softphone before registration
Hi all, I have problem with my Asterisk. I'm using the softphone Xten-Lite. I've removed the SIP client information in sip.conf. The softphone can't register to Asterisk, but it can make outgoing calls. I've tried to add back the SIP client information into the sip.conf, but make a wrong password in the softphone. The registration and outgoing calls are failed as expected.

What t38pt_udptl is ? Explain T.38 in 1.4
Hi, I would like to improve my understanding of T.38. 1. What T38FAX_VERSION_0 or T38FAX_VERSION_1 in chan_sip.c means ? voip-info.org implies one has to change values in chan_sip.c to make it work. Shall I set T38FAX_VERSION_1 or leave T38FAX_VERSION_0 in global_t38_capability ? Source code says "This is default: NO MMR and JBIG trancoding, NO fill bit removal, transferredTCF TCF, UDP FEC,

Softphone behind NAT issues

So far, we've been able to get the phone to register with the asterisk server, and it can receive voice from the asterisk server (IE, voicemail, etc). However, asterisk can't hear anything from the softphone. We have used 2 different machines to test this on. We are watching
