Wifi - Managed access points...
Hi, I'm working on a Wifi VoIP project specification. It will have almost 8 APs and 20-30 wifi phones. And after some research, I still having some questions ... 1) Are Managed Access Points (and switch controllers) really important to implement good wifi woip (w/ low latency and acceptable handover time) ? 2) What is the difference between (3com WX1200 + 3com AP 3750) and (DES-1228P +

OpenVox A400P01on thin client?
Hello, I'm thinking of ordering an OpenVox A400P01 (A400P + 1 PORT FXO Bundle) for use in a old IBM 8364 thin client: http://www.openvox.com.cn/products_detail.php?genre_id=9&id=28 http://silicon-verl.de/home/flo/software/netstation-8364/ Has someone already used this hardware with Asterisk, especially on a small piece of hardware like this, and could offer some feedback? Thank you.

auto dial out multiple destinations
Hi, I am searching for the most effective solution for the following scenario: Our users can call into our IVR menu and dial a specific extension and immediately hang up. This event should simply trigger Asterisk to make multiple simultaneous calls through a group of zap channels (5-10 calls). When the called parties answer, Asterisk should simply play a message and hangup. So I was thinking

DIAX, IAX2 and latency
Hello, today I tried a DIAX -> * -> DIAX connection over the internet (768/128 ADSL connection on both sides). The sound quality was great. However, we had some latency problems, and also, if both sides where not talking the first words had some problems getting thru. Is this expected, is there anything that can be done on our setup, any magical iax.conf entry? Thanks and best regards

Blank Voicemails
Hi, we're running Asterisk 1.2.10 and have been randomly being left blank voicemails with long messages that we can't hear. I've searched and searched but cannot find a solution. This is what happens: Internal Server runs Asterisk 1.2.10 where our mailboxes are Incoming Server (behind a firewall) runs Asterisk 1.2.13 and calls are bridged between this server and our internal server.

yum repository for Mplayer and Codecs?
Good morning, I've looked around a bit for a yum repository for Mplayer with all of the codecs. Does anyone know of a repository? (I admit I'm being a little lazy this morning :) ). Thanks! Jeff

How do point releases work?
I'm new to RHEL-like distros. When, say, CentOS 4.1 is released, will it simply be CentOS 4.0 + released updates in new ISO images? Or is it more than just the updated packages integrated into the full distribution? Put another way, if my 4.0 installation is kept up to date with YUM, will I basically have a 4.1 installation? Thanks.

OpenOffice Conversion
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 List, I have a rather unique question, that perhaps can be answered easily here.I did search google and only came up with one app that does this exact thing; however, it's an expensive tool. Thusly, not my cup of tea. I have need to convert approximately 100 documents in Openoffice's native format to Microsoft Word's native format.

Maximum Likelihood Estimation
Hi, I would like estimate a model for function of production's Coob-Douglas using maximum likelihood. The model is log(Y)= beta[1]+beta[2]*log(L)+beta[3]*log(K). I tried estimate this model using the tools nlm ( ) and optim ( ) using the log-likelihood function below: > mloglik <- function (beta, Y, L, K) { + n <- length(Y) + sum ( (log(Y)-

realtime jitter/latency measurements
Howdy, Can anyone point me to links or discussions about realtime jitter measurement? I read a long thread from 2007 (Douglas Garstang) that didn't end with any conclusions. I want to do the same thing he was trying to do - allow realtime jitter measurements to help control call routing with multiple upstream ITSPs. Cheers, j

Jitter buffer latency
Hi, I'm trying to use the jitter buffer feature that comes with Speex but I'm getting unexpected latency. I wrote a client application that does VOIP-like functions and without using jitter buffer, the end-to-end latency is around 250 ms (I'm using lowband 5.97 kpbs). However, when I tried to incorporate the jitter buffer feature, the latency would grow as time elapsed (up to a few

Jitter buffer latency
Hi, Our project is using the jitter buffer feature built in Speex. We noticed there are some latency when using the jitter buffer. Does anyone know what is the "worst case" latency inherent in the jitter buffer algorithm? I believe someone already mentioned that it's adaptive but is there a worst case hard number (in terms of 20ms Speex frames)? I'm not familiar with the

Jitter buffer latency
Hi Jean-Marc, Thanks for your response. Given a worst case scenario, what is the "worst case" latency (in terms of Speex frames) that the jitter buffer algorithm will incur? We're trying to determine the worst case hard number. Sorry for unclear question below; what I was trying to ask is that given a worst case latency (which I'm asking in the first question) inherent in
