SAMBA and 2 form factor auth
Hi All,
I havent heard a response back to my previous posts so I am now trying
from a "broader" topic.
What I have is the following:
A 2 Form Factor Token Authentication system similar to RSA SecureID
A Linux SAMBA 3.0.14a-Debian
I've got the two systems authenticating against each other with RADIUS
via PAM support. When I tell SAMBA to use this PAM support as well, I
see the

CryptoCard - PAM or RADIUS?
Greetings all,
I'm working on attempting to get SAMBA to work with a product line
called CryptoCard. I *should* be able to get it to work one of two ways,
either through the use of CryptoCard's provided PAM module, or through
RADIUS authentication.
Currently, I cannot seem to get PAM authentication to work at all. This
is what is in the 'samba' file for PAM:

PAM vs smbpasswd oddity
Hi Folks,
so now I've managed to trick the authentication server to caching the
one time passwords for me. I'm down to the last two problems:
1. Something odd that I've noticed is that when I use PAM authentication
Windows clients are outright refused. When I enable "encrypted"
passwords, therefor disabling PAM, I'm then able to log in but with the
use of static

Asterisk 1.4 and Cepstral
Greetings,
I've recently upgraded from Asterisk 1.2 to 1.4. I've been searching for
a solution, but am also trying the easy way at the same time. I've now
got David of Cepstral now speaking using app_swift from
http://www.mezzo.net/asterisk/app_swift.html .
The problem is, he sounds way worse than he did when it was asterisk
version 1.2. I'm seriously considering either

subsetting a dataframe
How does one remove a column from a data frame when the name of
the column to remove is stored in a variable?
For Example:
colname <- "LOT"
newdf <- subset(olddf,select = - colname)
The above statement will give an error, but thats what I'm trying to
accomplish.
If I had used:
newdf <- subset(olddf,select = - LOT)
then it would have worked, but as I said the column

Weird arp behavior
Hi all,
So, I've deployed Tinc in a non normal manor to which has been working
just fine for days up until recent. Here is a description of the network.
There are two VPN host controllers, A and B. All nodes have a separate
connection to A and B. Tinc has been configured to be in 'switch' mode
for both the A cloud and B cloud. On the back end, I have OSPF running
on all nodes and

So what if I can't dial out ... or in ... Asterisk just blows my mind!
I subscribed to this list for about two months before I began posting, so I've
got a buttload of email to sift through ... I'm doing this BEFORE I flood the
list with my inane questions ...
But here goes:
I read a reply from one guy to another about recording. The message included
this context from extensions.conf:

Dial plan constructions suggestions?
Can I ask for some advice on dial-plan construction please
I have setup my dialplan to use 9 to get a zap trunk, leaving everything
else for internal extensions.
However, this creates a problem in that my callerid is correct, but
doesn't work to re-dial the incoming caller. So if I simply click
"missed calls" on my Snom phone and hit redial then it tries to dial an

Auto-installing security updates?
I've been asked to think about setting up an installation for a recently-
widowed man. His needs are small - mail, Internet, on-line banking, basically
- but his wife dealt with all of it on her laptop and he feels very insecure.
It seems to me that CentOS would be perfect for him except for the need to
keep it securely patched. I'm wondering if it's possible to auto-install

"Please Press Any Key to Accept a Call"
Hi,
I'd like to add a feature to my asterisk system that tries to find a user among a couple of locations, and then goes to internal voicemail if the user doesn't pick up. (e,g, an internal extension and a cell phone). The catch is that I want the user to manually accept the call to prevent it from going (for example) to the voice mail on my cell phone.
Scenario

Tinc for gaming
Hi,
We are trying to set up tinc for playing lan games over the internet.
The three of us are running tinc, can ping each other and browse shared
folders. yes, windows :|
However we cannot connect because we don't show up in the game lobby.
The games usually require udp ports to be open, but I think these are all
open once we establish the tinc tunnel.
Also, testing with all computers in

dial plan logic
Just starting to enjoy the full features of asterisk, I do have a couple
questions though, that I can't seem to find answers for in the wiki,
just wondering if someone could light my way.
after a caller has made their choice of options in the dial plan, I
would like them to be placed on "hold" (music, not ringing) while the
system processes through the rest of the dial plan

Moving from Fedora -- Advice??
I'm running Fedora14 on all machines, including my wife's -- and
I'm the nearest (distant) thing there is to tech support.
She's far more likely to outlive me than I her; so I want to
install something requiring a lot less maintenance on her machine, so
that she'll have it and be used to it, years ahead of need.
I'm thinking CentOS 6, whenever it's ready, is

Yes, you replace <myups> with the address of your UPS, for example
"ups at 192.168.x.y". Are you using Dash or Bash?

"upstream testing"??
[Follow-ups set to gmane.linux.centos.general]
My wife had been running CentOS 6.4 almost since
its inception; then her PC broke down.
We got a PC from System76, and Ubuntu turned out
utterly unsuitable for us, as expected -- as bad
for us as Gnome3. (I had previously bought a System76
net book (starling iirc), and immediately installed the
then current Fedora; all has been

CentOS 6 and android connectivity (Nook)
So, I got my wife a Nook for her b'day. I just plugged it into my system,
CentOS 6.5, and what I see is /media/NOOK, and it shows 257k or so - yes,
k, not m or g. It's *not* seeing any directories, etc, and the small thing
I'm guessing is firmware, since even when I try mount -o remount -rw, it
is still r/o.
Googling, I see mentions of fsmtp, I think it was, and yum shows some mtp

Can I enter an extension to dial while voicemail is playing?
I have a very, very simple Asterisk setup in my house. I have a
Sipura 3000 with a PSTN line connected and one analog phone connected.
The [incoming] context looks like this:
exten => s,1,Dial(SIP/50,23,r)
exten => s,2,VoiceMail(u50@default)
exten => s,3,Playback(vm-goodbye)
exten => s,4,Hangup
As you can see, when somebody calls in if I don't answer in 23 seconds
then they are
